So now it was night, and the question remained-- where was she planning to go? Okay, so there was another question about the ring that she'd found sitting in her desk drawer all innocent-like and normal. But that was kind of part of the first question, so Minako decided it would fit there.
Right, then. Where was she going to go with the weird teleporting ring thing? The last location she'd been in in "this world" (what a weird thought that was) would be the big muddy hole in the ground, and she couldn't see any point in trying that out. At all. Still, though, her innate curiosity wouldn't let her just leave it in the drawer; she pulled it out and, after a moment's consideration, slid it onto her finger.
She frowned at it a moment longer, wondering just what the doctor-man on the intercom wasn't saying about it, then finally gave a mental shrug and dismissed it for the time being. Minako took up her coiled whip and flashlight, bid her roommate a cheerful farewell and admonition to be careful, then headed out into the hallway. Time
( ... )
At least Minako seemed like a fairly nice roommate. Even if she did miss the others. It would be really sad if she ended up vanishing too, just like the rest. When night arrived, she picked up her things, tying the extra bat to her hip with the pillowcase, carrying one slightly damaged aluminum bat in hand, along with her flashlight.
Ritsu, she knew, was still around, or should be at least. She'd seen him just earlier today. And Bridget...? It'd been days since she'd seen or heard from him. He wouldn't have left, not without saying anything, of that much she was sure.
She made certain to leave a note on the door for Badou, just in case he had time to stop by and pick up the assortment of sweets she'd stitched during arts and crafts today. One more glance behind her and she was off.
Surprisingly enough, Callisto's roommate had been taken away for the evening. One would think if the Head Doctor wanted to pit someone against the other patients he'd choose a victim who wasn't addled in the head already. (Then again, their brainwashing techniques probably made that issue null and void.) She'd made no attempt to stop them, nor was she interested in searching for her roommate once the doors had been opened. The former warlord had her own business to take care of, and the two of them had never been particularly close anyway.
Taking the radio, as little use as she thought she'd have for it, and the flashlight, she headed out into the halls without another moment's thought. She might have been away for a time, but the locations of various rooms in the building were still fresh in her mind. She wouldn't have to go far to get outside - it was getting past anything that might have been set up as a guardian there that would be the trouble.
Even without her roommate in the room, Tifa kept her complaining to herself, even though she wanted to groan so badly. It was not going to help the pain go away, and actually the reverberation of the groan could make her nose throb harder.
Maybe I can steal some more of those pills while I'm out...She was already going to steal some garbage bags, a few prescription drugs wouldn't hurt anyone. Standing up on the linoleum floor for a moment to clear her swimming head, Tifa moved to the wardrobe and pulled out only her materia. She didn't really have anywhere to equip it though
( ... )
"Tifa! Hey, hey. I was just about to come see you."
She studied the older woman critically, and, despite the dim lighting, winced. Tifa should not look like she'd just run headlong into an oncoming bus. It was, like, against every law of nature. "Wow, you really did a number on yourself, didn'tcha?"
How much would Clear Tranquil be able to help? She'd saved Sano with it, him and his stupid punctured lung, and it'd worked reasonably well on Kenshin and pretty damn good with Shinichi… It was hard to say for sure. Still, anything would be better than nothing; running around at night with a broken nose would be a serious pain in the ass.
Since hanging around in the hallways never sat well with her, Yuffie backed into her room, gesturing for Tifa to follow her.
It was pretty hard to be cool with a busted face and an anticlimactic story behind it all. All she could do was smile with humor she didn't feel and scratched her cheek. "Yes, yes I did. I don't recommend it..." As she drew closer with her own light, Tifa noticed Yuffie wasn't wearing the usual grey uniform. It was a wave of nostalgia that punched her in the stomach and left her mouth hanging open in the doorway. "How... how did you get a hold of those clothes?"
She had been here the longest of them all, so perhaps the ninja had found out where they held all of their absconded clothing. It would be extraordinary really, she was already tired of wearing pants and the way they dragged against her legs. There was a reason she went with skirts
( ... )
"Oh, these?" Yuffie bounced on her toes, and then twirled. "I found 'em in my closet one night. I got another outfit, too-this one came second. No idea where from, 'course; that’s one of Landel's M.Os. Weren't there in the morning, but when I came in for dinner… poof! There they were."
One hand planted casually on her hip, Yuffie hopped back to friend's side to see what she was wowing at. The origami? There was kinda a lot of it by now. "Neat huh? I didn't make it all, but you hang around here as long as me, and you start picking up bits and pieces," she explained. "I've got all sorts of stuff. Pens, glitter, colored paper for origami, pipe cleaners for lock-picking, knives, candy…" And a mysterious ring which doubled up as a personal teleporty-thingie. That too.
Teresa was not fond of the idea of having to work with the youma again, but she respected Homura enough to know he probably had a reason for it. At the very least, he'd listed her first and she knew the most of the area they were headed into. She was not normally one for group tactics - one of the reasons she was rarely ever used in a group hunt of an Awakened. It wasn't as if she ever needed the other hybrids to deal with any of them. And yet she was capable if she wished to be.
She just preferred to run solo; group tactics and leadership was Irene's thing. Still, this put her in charge in her mind.
Taking up the familiar weight of her claymore, Teresa hooked it on the metal bracket behind her, the light but durable frame resting comfortably on her shoulders. Flashlight in hand, she left to meet the others.
Another day, another complete waste of time. They'd managed to get almost nothing done and she hadn't even seen Sasuke for the last couple of days. It was really starting to get depressing! Not that she was about to let it get her down, but a girl could only handle so much! Not to even mention how much the bulletin seriously was failing as a means of communication. Dogs, frogs, slugs, cats, even turtles were more reliable. Now she was stuck; another night and no plans at all! Even if Shikamaru said she shouldn't go alone, she wasn't about to spend the night in her room! That was just a waste!
She dressed quickly, feeling much more comfortable in her own clothing, then filled her pouches with the medical kit, her kunai, and the other assortment of items she'd collected, just in case. Once she had everything ready, she set out. If she was lucky, maybe she'd run into someone she knew. Then she wouldn't have to put up with a lecture on going alone.
At this point Evangeline was pretty much leaving her room each night out of habit, and maybe a little bit of superstitious fear that if she stopped one day the door would stop unlocking and she wouldn't even have this minor release from the all-too-familiar dreary boredom of imprisonment. Then she would probably have to... talk to her roommate or something. The girl carried those stylized knives that screamed 'ninja' and enough other kit that they could probably talk shop or something, but kids were kids and Sakura looked like a kid to Eva
