Day 23: Men's Showers, Evening Shift

Apr 14, 2007 09:40

His nurse had babbled like usual all the way to the showers, asking if he wanted a haircut (no), if he'd made friends (yes), and if the young man he'd been sitting with was one of them (definitely yes). It was annoying to play the cheerful patient role, but it made sure she didn't ask too many really invasive questions. Ritsuka had to remind ( Read more... )

Kazuo hadn't done much after his card game with Penelo; lunch had been eaten in solitude and he'd had time to think about everything she had told him. What Ari had said about monsters had been true, so, if what Penelo said was also true...that put this place in a whole new light, and he wasn't entirely sure what to make of it yet.

The nurse had taken him to the showers, and he was adamant he did not want a haircut, but he looked forward to the bath. Kazuo was rather fanatical about being clean, and even on the island had found ways to do so. He was grateful to finally have a shower, since he wasn't sure what had happened to him between the blackout on the island and awakening here. After carefully folding his clothes, he went in.

There was only one other person there at the moment. Kazuo had never been good at introductions or small talk, but if he was going to play this game, he'd play it right. "Hello," he said after a minute of silence.

For a moment, Ritsuka didn't know he was being spoken to. He blinked and looked up at the other boy, not sure why someone would suddenly come up to him in the showers of all places. Still, it wouldn't do to be rude and so, motioning to the shower next to him, he said, "Hello. Please, go ahead."

More people were here now so it was harder to think, especially with the ruckus Tamaki and his friends were making. Ritsuka grabbed the shampoo and started in on his hair, idly noticing that the bandages that were usually scattered here and there were gone. It had been awhile since he had no cuts or bruises while showering, and idly wondered how long he could have been "asleep" before coming here. The other boy didn't seem like a huge talker, but polite conversation was only to be expected once it had been initiated. "So, what's your name?"

"Kazuo Kiriyama," Kazuo replied haltingly. He was starting to wonder if he was making the right decision; this was hard! "I'm new. You are?"

His eyes narrowed slightly in annoyance. He hated noise, espeically when he was trying to do something relaxing. He tilted his head toward the group making all the racket. "Are they always this loud? It's rude."

"Aoyagi Ritsuka - nice to meet you. I'm new, too. I arrived yesterday." Even if Seimei said not to make friends, conversation was alright, wasn't it? Besides, he couldn't snub a guy when he started talking to him. It just didn't seem right. Ritsuka shrugged his shoulders, rinsing his hair before looking back at the other boys in the shower. "I have no idea if they're always this loud. They're friends in their own world, but I don't know them all that well."

Tamaki was his roommate, but other than their talk last night they didn't really know each other, and he only knew the twins in passing and from the bulletin board. The brief meeting at breakfast hadn't really told him anything about Hikaru, and he hadn't seen Kaoru until now. He did remember something Tamaki had said about the twins though... "Those two, the redheads, like to tease their friends - at least, that's what I heard. Hitachiin Hikaru and Kaoru, and the one who ran off is my roommate - Lord Suou Tamaki."

As was to be expected, Hisoka was not happy at the prospect of showering in the least. But rather than take his anger out on a nurse and be drugged for who knew how long, the boy forced himself to calm down and allow the nurse to escort him to the showers.

He would not be drugged this coming Nightshift. He would not be drugged this Nightshift. He would notThe manta did nothing for the nausea and panic steadily building up inside and for a moment Hisoka cursed Tsuzuki's arrival to Landel's. If he had not shown up the boy would have no problems not being active for one night, but now... The shinigami promptly snuffed these thoughts as his nurse attempted to help him undress and on instinct the boy snapped, quickly moving away as he swatted at her hands ( ... )

Communal showers?!Those words raced through Larsa's mind as he was escorted from his guardian and new friend, dread spread over him like a wool blanket. If there was something the child would rather have without it was having to share the same space with other naked boys in an attempt to clean one's self. The very thought made him blush, yet try as he might he could not convince his nurse to consider otherwise ( ... )

(After watching the 'unfold', Larsa is completely traumitized and staggers out of the Showers and into the Sun Room.)

Hikaru had mixed feelings about bathing in public. He knew that some commoners went to bath houses regularly, that their apartments were too small to have more than a sleeping area and a toilet and MAYBE a tiny kitchenette, and that they had to look elsewhere for a place to keep clean, but he had never run into that problem. The bathroom that he and Kaoru shared was bigger than some houses, with a marble tub that could easily double as a small swimming pool. He had bathed with his brother on several occasions, but...other people? No, that was an entirely new experience, and one that he wasn't sure he welcomed.

He folded his clothes and took his towel, unsure what to really do. Eventually, he settled on taking a showerhead well away from the others (though he did want to talk to Ritsuka at some point), angling himself a little more modestly so that he faced the wall, and focused on getting clean.

Tamaki was actually looking forward to a shower. He didn't mind public bathing too much - though he hated that all the soaps were generic. And maybe he'd feel better after a nice hot shower. They did do wonders to clear the head, after all!

He noticed Hikaru-or-Kaoru already there, and no one else that was on his list of People To Talk To. he wanted to talk to Ed, of course, but until the other boy showed up....

"I really am sorry," he said, approaching his friend, a towel wrapped around his waist. It didn't matter which twin it was, just that he apologized. They both deserved it, after all. "I wanted to say it in person. I know I acted like a jerk, and I'm sorry."

Hikaru had changed costumes around Tamaki enough that he felt decently comfortable around him. Of course, being in boxers was pretty different to bathing in the buff, but his other interactions with people had been been while wearing clothes, so this was a little easier. He acknowledged the King's arrival with a nod and continued focusing on soaping up. The shampoo wasn't the nice stuff he was used to, which was a little off-putting, but it smelled okay. Kind of fruity.

Tamaki's apology took him by surprise. Feeling suddenly and inexplicably guilty, Hikaru looked away and scrubbed his chest for a minute or two before answering, "You don't have to apologize." It came out as a mutter, meaning that the young Lord wouldn't be able to rely on the difference in the twins' voices to tell them apart. It was bad enough that the water had plastered his bangs to his forehead.

"Yes, I do."

He wasn't sure which twin he was talking to, but it didn't matter. Impulsively, and to emphasize his words, he reached out and hugged his friend, tightly. Ignoring that the twin was naked and Tamaki was only wearing a towel. It was one of the twins, after all. The rest of the Host Club, they were like family.

"I do," he repeated. He knew that he did. He'd been a jerk, and he'd messed up, and he felt badly.

Sasuke's nurse told him, in tones of great excitement, that the showers might be a bit off-putting for shy types at first, but they were a great opportunity to make friends, and that Sean should really try to talk to some people while he was there ( ... )

It was quite a surprise when Lee was told that they would be taking showers together. The only reason it bothered him was the fact that it was crystal clear that they made sure to monitor all of them together ( ... )
