His nurse had babbled like usual all the way to the showers, asking if he wanted a haircut (no), if he'd made friends (yes), and if the young man he'd been sitting with was one of them (definitely yes). It was annoying to play the cheerful patient role, but it made sure she didn't ask too many really invasive questions. Ritsuka had to remind

The nurse had taken him to the showers, and he was adamant he did not want a haircut, but he looked forward to the bath. Kazuo was rather fanatical about being clean, and even on the island had found ways to do so. He was grateful to finally have a shower, since he wasn't sure what had happened to him between the blackout on the island and awakening here. After carefully folding his clothes, he went in.
There was only one other person there at the moment. Kazuo had never been good at introductions or small talk, but if he was going to play this game, he'd play it right. "Hello," he said after a minute of silence.

More people were here now so it was harder to think, especially with the ruckus Tamaki and his friends were making. Ritsuka grabbed the shampoo and started in on his hair, idly noticing that the bandages that were usually scattered here and there were gone. It had been awhile since he had no cuts or bruises while showering, and idly wondered how long he could have been "asleep" before coming here. The other boy didn't seem like a huge talker, but polite conversation was only to be expected once it had been initiated. "So, what's your name?"

His eyes narrowed slightly in annoyance. He hated noise, espeically when he was trying to do something relaxing. He tilted his head toward the group making all the racket. "Are they always this loud? It's rude."

Tamaki was his roommate, but other than their talk last night they didn't really know each other, and he only knew the twins in passing and from the bulletin board. The brief meeting at breakfast hadn't really told him anything about Hikaru, and he hadn't seen Kaoru until now. He did remember something Tamaki had said about the twins though... "Those two, the redheads, like to tease their friends - at least, that's what I heard. Hitachiin Hikaru and Kaoru, and the one who ran off is my roommate - Lord Suou Tamaki."

If he had not shown up the boy would have no problems not being active for one night, but now... The shinigami promptly snuffed these thoughts as his nurse attempted to help him undress and on instinct the boy snapped, quickly moving away as he swatted at her hands ( ... )

He folded his clothes and took his towel, unsure what to really do. Eventually, he settled on taking a showerhead well away from the others (though he did want to talk to Ritsuka at some point), angling himself a little more modestly so that he faced the wall, and focused on getting clean.

He noticed Hikaru-or-Kaoru already there, and no one else that was on his list of People To Talk To. he wanted to talk to Ed, of course, but until the other boy showed up....
"I really am sorry," he said, approaching his friend, a towel wrapped around his waist. It didn't matter which twin it was, just that he apologized. They both deserved it, after all. "I wanted to say it in person. I know I acted like a jerk, and I'm sorry."

Tamaki's apology took him by surprise. Feeling suddenly and inexplicably guilty, Hikaru looked away and scrubbed his chest for a minute or two before answering, "You don't have to apologize." It came out as a mutter, meaning that the young Lord wouldn't be able to rely on the difference in the twins' voices to tell them apart. It was bad enough that the water had plastered his bangs to his forehead.

He wasn't sure which twin he was talking to, but it didn't matter. Impulsively, and to emphasize his words, he reached out and hugged his friend, tightly. Ignoring that the twin was naked and Tamaki was only wearing a towel. It was one of the twins, after all. The rest of the Host Club, they were like family.
"I do," he repeated. He knew that he did. He'd been a jerk, and he'd messed up, and he felt badly.
