Night 49: Activities Shed

[ From here]Homura stepped not into the open hall outside of the Sun Room, or even a corridor one might expect to find when heading out of what had likely been an office. Instead, a sweep of the area with his flashlight revealed a small room with wooden walls, filled with items like those the nurses issues sometimes when the escorted the patients ( Read more... )

Homura was not the only one that found Hayashi's reaction worthy of note. The difference was, Teresa was pretty sure she understood what was behind it. Her eyes had narrowed just a bit as she glanced over at the youma before following Homura through the door. If Hayashi wasn't going to be able to control the demon inside her, the Number One would have to put her down. But for now... she'd watch and wait, making a mental note to pass what she knew onto Homura when she had the chance. The longer she was around Hayashi, more familiar her youki felt. Why was that?

"Ah," was all she said. Teleportation was an odd concept, as far as long distances were concerned. She understood short term near instantaneous movement. "I concur," she said, moving to open the door.

Scott continued to see no reason to complain as they made their way into what looked like a big sports shed, filled to the brim with all sorts of equipment. A big grin spread across the bassist's face. He wasn't exactly a jock (anymore, anyway; he totally had been in high school, at least, right?), but he knew stuff that could whack enemies across the head when he saw it. The rain outside could be heard much more sharply now, almost to the point where Scott wondered if the roof might not just give way and let all that water and wood fall right on top of them; that didn't seem to matter so much in the face of what they had found, though.

"Oh nice! Jackpot! Look at all this stuff!" Scott pushed past a few nets and bins of balls, gazing up and down at the huge variety of sporting equipment like a kid in an overused turn-of-phrase. Searching around with his flashlight, he soon came across a bin of something he had been hoping to find: baseball bats. Aluminum or wooden, a bat would be a lot stronger than his thin metal pipe ( ... )

“I played soccer in school, before I decided that I wanted to devote all my time to investigation,” Shinichi said with as much modesty as he could muster. He would’ve been lying if he said that Scott’s praise hadn’t helped his ego quite a bit. It was always nice to know that his skills were appreciated by random gamers he’d met about an hour ago ( ... )

The sudden change in Senna's demeanor had been startling, to say the least; it was more than sufficient to tear Hanatarou's attention away from the shelves of potentially useful equipment, and he'd only given a mute nod in response to her question before following along after. Hopefully she was okay? She might not appreciate being asked, but he couldn't help worrying.

He absently settled his bag back into place just before he stepped through the door, then found himself clutching the strap again until he found his balance on the other side. And found that he was... a little closer to the other two than before. This place (which had to be outside, judging from the rain pounding overhead, but hopefully not in town) was quite a bit smaller than the last room had been, and full of... wait, what?

"Is this...." He paused, glancing at Senna with badly-masked worry, then nodded at the contents of the small building they were in. "Uh, toys? Let's... keep going."

That wasn't a good expression. Senna looked rather sick in fact. Tsukasa bit his lip as she took the bag and headed to the doorway, wondering if he should say something. She looked really bad and it was the kind of thing that people did, wasn't it? But... but he didn't know her very well at all, just her name and nothing else, and he'd always been the one being comforted for things that had happened. He'd never been able to give comfort to anyone before, why would it be any different now ( ... )
