Nightshift 49: Doctor's Office 4

Well, this was less exciting than he'd hoped for. HK examined the empty office, even the ceiling, hoping that something would jump out and make life more interesting. "Observation: It seems these jumps are truly random." And... lacking in inspiration. I was hoping for targets!

Lugnut stared around, as well. "It's... an empty room," he stated, unhelpfully, with a little frown, then snorted. "Hmph, I suppose it would befit them to disorient us."

"Observation: The head meatbag mentioned some sort of reconstruction. This might be related to it." Who rearranged their house by breaking the spacetime continuum?

"It might be," Lugnut agreed, then, because he could, suggested, "Do you think the... transportation is tied to the doors? Perhaps we could avoid it by going through the walls." He hefted the axe, and added, "Putting holes in their walls might be an annoyance to them, as well."

HK blanched slightly at the threat to the axe's health and welfare. "Observation: We could also continue attempting to use the door. We might be able to get to areas that are otherwise inaccessible, possibly even the third floor." You know, where their BODIES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE.

[ From here]

Homura would've thought himself prepared for anything before his group passed through the doors that should have led to the Sun Room. But when he instead saw an empty space significantly smaller than where he'd intended to go, that assumption was immediately challenged. What sort of game was Landel playing at now?

"Emergency reconstruction--was that how he put it?" So now Landel had decided to rework his prison, as if they didn't face enough obstacle between the limitations of time and strength. "It seems we'll just have to keep going until we come to something useful."

Walking from a hallway into what was supposed to be a large open room into a small room was not something Teresa was prepared for. Instinctively, her hand went up to grip the large metal length strapped to her back in case there was an immediate threat. Seeing none, she let go and stepped around so she could keep Hayashi in the corner of her eye.

"This should not be possible."

The basement sounded good to Yomi, since--if it could be said she was focusing on any one part of the building--her interest lay there. As not one line of talk exactly needed a response from her, she kept it simple and gave a nod. “Gotcha.” It was fine if Homura didn’t expect titles, and it was fine that he was assessing her. She was doing the same for her own reasons, too.

An atmosphere of suspicion and appraisal between the three of them was more relaxing than the alternatives.

Likewise, her desire to stretch her muscles, to drop the pretences that surrounded her for a time and live in a moment of unfettered violence made her wonder if something would be waiting for them inside the Sun Room. One of Landel’s night time horrors, a fellow prisoner turned enforcer. Something promising. In crossing the threshold, however, she was to be disappointed, at least to that end.

Curiosity over how they’d suddenly gone from the lounge to some unknown room easily outweighed any longing for a physical encounter. This in its own way was a ( ... )

That Teresa and possibly Hayashi might not have understood what had happened wasn't a thought that initially occurred to Homura. Once he realized, however, he chuckled slightly, turning to face them both. "Teleportation is how we refer to it in my world. Basically, it's the ability to move instantaneously from one place to another, quite possibly over great distance." And a power Homura himself once utilized quite frequently, hence his relative calm in regards to the situation ( ... )
