As friendly as Leela had been, Rita was glad to be escorted away from her, for fear that some of that crazy might have been contagious. Abducted by aliens. Yeah, right

Not only did the nurse-woman refuse to respond to any attempts at friendly conversation, she persisted in using that weirdly wrong name every time she addressed Minako. As if the entire situation wasn't strange enough, being called "Annabel" made her distinctly uncomfortable. Who exactly was this Annabel person who was supposed to be sick, and why did this supposed hospital seem more like a...a kindergarten with dormitories? And was she really expected to make something out of the construction paper and glitter that the nurse had set on the table in front of her

And he said such nice things, too. What a sweet boy he was. Minako beamed at him in appreciation and flicked a stray lock of hair behind her shoulder again. Fortunate for her that she'd ended up with a friendly person to speak to immediately after showing up here, especially since not all of the others she could see looked quite so...cheerful. Or at least people she'd want to discuss this kind of thing with.
The mention of "complications," especially in that kind of tone and with that kind of look, made her wonder just what he'd been doing just before he showed up here. Complications were something she knew pretty well, especially when those complications meant, say, giving up on a normal life (and sleep, often enough) in order to defeat creatures most people didn't even know existed. Yeah, her life was pretty complicated. But she wasn't about to mention that to anyone, especially not someone she'd just met. No matter how cute or nice he was. And in return, best not to ask specific questions about him, if he had secrets too

All he could really do in response to her question was shrug. "I dunno," he answered. "I mean, I asked my nurse if a friend of mine had been hangin' around, and she said he was just gone for the day. He'll probably be back tomorrow to help me straighten things out." That was assuming that Mello could; Matt wasn't too sure he'd be able to at this point, no matter how kickass his connections were. Besides, this place didn't exactly seem like the type to be easily swayed, even by as big a name in the LA mafia as Mello. "Maybe my friend knows how I got here?"
Now that he'd heard more and more accounts of people just disappearing out of their beds at home and magically appearing here, Matt was starting to think about all the weird, off-the-wall stuff that had happened to him so far. Resurrection didn't really seem to be on the list of Things Normal Mental Hospitals Are Capable of.
Once again, unless they were all wacko. He liked to think they weren't.
"I think the more important question right now is... how do we get out?" Matt glanced

Normally, getting out wouldn't have been a problem. Normally Minako could have just transformed and dealt with any obstacles that way -- doors and walls didn't really stand a chance against the judicious application of a Love and Beauty Shock and then once out she could've figured out where she was and how she was going to get home. It wouldn't have been a problem.
Unfortunately, this was anything but normal circumstances and something was very, very wrong. She shifted in her chair with mild discomfort that had nothing to do with the molded plastic on which she was sitting, catching her lower lip in her teeth as she considered. At this point, her first order of business was probably to find Artemis or the other senshi. If all of them were together then someone could come up with something; they always did

Matt didn't quite look forward to waiting until tomorrow either, but he figured that what needed to be done needed to be done; it was strange, however, that Mello had just left him there, when the staff of this place were obviously under a misconception as to his identity. He couldn't have given up on the matter, though; no, that couldn't have been why Mello'd left for the day. He'd probably just gone off to figure out a better way to help while he still thought Matt was unconscious. The redhead just really hoped that Mello would bring a pack of smokes (or two) along with him when he returned in the morning
