"AACHOO! Ahem!" The Head Doctor's slightly-better-but-still-congested voice came on clearly over the intercom. The sound of Nurse Lydia sighing and pulling out a tissue from somewhere in the background was also audible

Much to the nurse's dismay, Ranulf was particularly excited after hearing what the man in the box had said about dinner. Salmon? SALMON?! He was practically skipping! The "sausage" and "chicken tenders" had been good of course, but to be served salmon...
"Alex, please stop tugging so hard on my arm... AND STOP SKIPPING!" the nurse shouted angrily. He'd learned her name was "Florence" from the odd shaped rectangle on her uniform.
"Sorry Flo... but it's salmon! You heard it didn't you?! It's sa

622's hair was still damp, a weird feeling after a life so used to the sonic showers always used by the troops, but at least he was clean and feeling refreshed. He wondered if he was going to have another cellmate now, since Loz had disappeared so soon after he'd arrived. Hopefully the odd man was still alive, he hadn't exactly seemed the brightest.
He followed his nurse without comment, curiously looking into the cell once the door was opened. Well, this one certainly took first prize for most unnatural hair color for a human so far, which was certainly saying something.
His nurse gave him his tray of food and left, closing the door and locking it. Thank the Emperor, now I can eat. But he might as well introduce himself first. "I suppose you're my new cellmate, then." He held out a hand politely, "Stormtrooper Sergeant TK-622. I've been here for quite a while, if you need anything explained to you."
Still absorbed in savoring the cooked fish, Ranulf didn't notice the activity behind him. As a result, when the tall beorc male introduced himself Ranulf was frightened and nearly dropped his tray. His heart still racing a bit, the young laguz set the tray on the bed and faced the man to return his introduction.
"You startled me." he said, laughing a little and then grasping the man's hand with a kind smile, he replied. "I'm Ranulf."
He didn't know what a "stormtrooper" was, but the word "sergeant" sparked his interest.
"You're a sergeant? Are you part of a mercenary group?" he asked with a curious expression on his face.
622 blinked, confused at the startled reaction. "It's been a while since I saw someone so focused on the food here." Well, he might personally count, but he tried to never let that be to the detriment of his awareness.
"Pleased to meet you," he said politely, shaking Ranulf's hand before retrieving his own tray and starting to dig in with all his usual speed.
"No, I'm part of an army. The Galactic Imperial Armed Forces." Which... might take some explaining, depending on where Ranulf was from.
This fish again. It was healthier than what they'd had for lunch, certainly, but the spices used left much to be desired. The salmon should have been treated with a lighter flavoring - something that enhanced the natural taste rather than covered it up. ...Perhaps he'd been here too long if he was thinking of ways to improve the dinner. Since when had he complained about the taste of anything?
The dessert was sweet, at least. Sai set his on Honey's desk as he'd done before, leaving his tray on his own as he went to check the closet. It would be problematic if he told Usopp to come by and pick up his weapon only for it to have disappeared over the course of the afternoon. Thankfully, when he opened the door it was still waiting, situated behind his usual ninja attire. Now he just had to hope that Usopp didn't go out and try to take too much on with it.
He didn't change yet (no need for Honey's nurse to possibly take notice of that) but go ahead and start on his dinner. Years of training kept him from making a face at the
People were going to be coming here. Here. And expecting him to tell them what to do and where to go, and--
And they had somehow already reached his room without him realizing it and Hanatarou jumped a little as the nurse addressed him, bobbing a wide-eyed nod when she asked if he was all right. She didn't seem entirely convinced, but smiled and told him to be certain to get some rest tonight, then patted his shoulder and left him alone with his dinner. He stared after her for a moment before breathing out a long sigh, letting his shoulders sag as he turned toward the desk and slumped into the chair. Dinner didn't look all that bad, but he was, as seemed to be common lately, not at all hungry.
Still, if he was going to be running around tonight he had to. And especially if he was going to be healing anyone, he needed the energy for it. He stared for a minute longer, then picked up the utensils and started in on his food, cutting neat bites of fish and putting them in his mouth almost mechanically.
Sora couldn't help feeling unsettled as he headed back to his room. All that stuff going on with Neku sounded pretty serious, and Sora wasn't sure if there was anything he could do to help. He wanted to, but he didn't feel too comfortable targeting people who weren't his business. He felt conflicted enough about what he'd done with the Organization. On the other hand, Neku seemed like he really needed someone to give him a hand, and Sora wasn't sure if there was anyone else who could do that
( ... )
It was too bad that eating dinner didn't do much to occupy his mind, because as much as Hanatarou tried not to think about how nervous he was, that just seemed to make it worse. The door opening provided a welcome distraction, and he glanced around to give his roommate a smile that looked almost relieved. "Oh, hello, Sora-san." Now they could talk about something that didn't involve--
Or not.
"Er." He turned back to look at his tray, poking at what was left of his fish for a moment before taking a bite. "Well, um, some people were interested in helping. And, and they're supposed to be...meeting here. Tonight." Another pause, then he glanced over at Sora with a worried expression. "You don't, er, mind, do you...?"
The fish really was amazing. It had more spices and flavorings than Sora was used to, but that hardly made it bad. He tried to stop himself from shoving the food down his throat too quickly, since that was just bad manners, especially when he was carrying on a conversation with Hanatarou.
It sounded like the other boy had actually gotten started on putting his idea of the paramedic group together. Sora was slightly shocked, but mainly just happy to hear that. "That's great!" he exclaimed as he took another bite of the salmon, and then snuck in some mashed potatoes as well.
When Hanatarou asked if their room was open for a meeting, Sora quickly nodded. "Yeah, that's fine! I go out pretty much every night, so it's no issue for me." So long as no one took the stuff stored in his closet, Sora didn't mind. He was sure that his roommate wouldn't let that happen, though. Even if Hanatarou was soft-spoken, he would definitely say something in a situation like that.
The shower only provided a temporary relief, then the headache was back growing to full force the moment he stepped out of the hot water and steam. The salmon smelled decent enough, but at the same time, the headiness made his stomach flip flop. His appetite hadn't quite recovered just yet, and since there wasn't any Jim or Nurse Chapel to see him skip out on some of his own advice, McCoy decided to forgo it for the moment. A meal here and there wasn't too big a deal, as long as he caught up later

If he never saw Stein again, it would be too soon. That was a bit of a cliche, but Hayes was just too rattled to come up with an original way of expressing the disturbing presence of that person. And nothing had really even been done to him... not like ZEX, whose disfiguring wounds were still in the front of his mind
( ... )
The door opening and closing, signaling Mr. Hayes' arrival, rang through his head like a red alert. McCoy swore quietly under his breath and covered his eyes with a hand.
"You mind keeping it down, commander?" the doctor asked quietly, his voice muffled. He probably wasn't even being that loud, but it felt as loud as standing right in the thick of the engine room. It'd hopefully go away once he got some sleep, but now that he was lying down, he was finding it hard to fall asleep. His mind was working rapidly, going over today's events, that shift Venkman, the previous night, what happened to his Enterprise, where they even looking for him(?), their assignment this night. Everything that wasn't conducive to falling asleep.
What, should I breathe quieter? It was the nurse that had handled the door, and Hayes didn't think he even had the energy to do anything actually noisy. But that included sarcastic rejoinders, so he just mumbled a "Sure" and sank into his chair.
The smell of the fish hung heavily in the air, and at any other time would have been downright alluring, but with Hayes' stomach already twisting with dread, it was just further sickening. Still, he knew he needed to eat, so he picked up the fork and speared a chunk of fish. Then he regarded it sadly for a while. Then he put it in his mouth and forced himself to swallow it.
There was still a lot left, and he wasn't going to get through it all that way, so he pushed the plate aside and tried not to think about what he'd do if asked to go back there.
Maybe in the future he should keep track of the schedule and convince Yue to shift back the night before the shower shift. It was only fair that he had a chance to be himself (for no matter how accustomed he was to being in Yue's body, it still never felt the same) and it would save massive amounts of time in hair-washing. It seemed like whatever happened to one of them happened to both, so it would make sense that if Yukito had clean hair, then Yue would too. Right
( ... )
To be herded back to the sleeping quarters was to be an expected occurrence when the radiance of the sun would soon make place of darkness. Would the fallacy this institute retained during the day fall and make place for it's real nature, 'returning' it to how things were when Xemnas had first awakened here after the void
( ... )
Almost as though thinking about the roommate had summoned him, there he was. Yukito glanced over as the door opened and started to offer a friendly smile, but before he could Yue abruptly pushed to the forefront of their shared mind, gently but firmly taking control of his own body. It took a fraction of a second longer than it should have for him to respond, but he inclined his head slightly in a polite acknowledgment of the greeting. Ken had been close to Yukito's supposed age, but this person seemed a little older than that. And there was...something different about him. Yue wasn't certain just what, but it was sufficient to make him cautious.
He turned back to his tray again, examining the half-eaten meal with mild distaste. He didn't wish to reveal the fact that he and Yukito both were present unless it became absolutely necessary, but if so -- he would have to eat this food himself. An unpleasant thought, but it would lose him less dignity in the end. Many people here ate. Not many at all had been experimented on in this
The response to the Superior's greeting was hardly a verbal one, but merely a slight inclination of the head in acknowledgment. A gesture that was only the slightest fraction later than what possibly should have been the case, but it was hardly of any relevance. If Xemnas had noticed, he made no outward sign of it.
It would seem the other was not of the talkative sort, but the Nobody wasn't one to particularly mind. As he calmly began cutting a piece of his salmon - there was no rush behind his mannerisms - he took a moment to register what he had been told and what he had personally witnessed thus far. Danger was most certainly something that lurked within the darkness these hallways, and without the familiar surge of power to readily summon, acquiring a weapon appeared to be a main priority.
