Day 48: Doctor's Office 3 (Dr. Kisugi) [Second Shift]

Mar 07, 2010 23:46

The week was almost over, and hopefully the next would be back to normal; Makiko rather disliked having her routine disturbed, even when said routine was as newly established as this one was. All of her annoyance disappeared, however, as soon as she heard the news that morning. Dr. Burroughs had apparently left, her patients distributed among the ( Read more... )

Oversleeping might not have been the best way to start the morning, but honestly, with the way things had been going lately? Sam figured he was entitled.

It did mean he didn't get a hell of a lot of time to mull over what had gone down last night, with Ruby especially (and crap, he definitely had to find her before the day was up to talk about this), before his nurse cheerfully delivered him in front of an office door. One of the doctors' offices, apparently. Which...well, okay, so maybe this wasn't ideal, but there could be worse fates in store. He'd only have to spend some time talking, right? He could talk. He could talk real well, actually. He'd had his share of school counselors and teachers who asked too many questions. And yeah, it sounded like these doctors were all more suspicious than not, but it didn't seem as if anyone came out of these sessions missing a limb ( ... )

The new arrival was male, which eliminated Violet as a possibility. This, then, must be the anticipated arrival, the younger Mr. Derringer. Makiko finished the last paragraph she was reading when the door opened, apparently not in any hurry at all, then lifted her head to greet her patient with a calm, professional, and almost completely neutral expression. She allowed perhaps a hint of a smile, though -- there was no reason to seem completely unfriendly at the first glance.

"You would be Matthew Derringer, correct?" The doctor's gaze flicked briefly from him to one of the files before her, then back up again as she gestured toward the chair in front of her desk. "I'm Dr. Kisugi. How are you feeling today?"

Outwardly she was all business and no sign of emotion. Inwardly, though, her interest -- and accordingly, the ever-present hunger -- had flared significantly as soon as she'd laid eyes on the man. There was a certain family resemblance, complementary cracks in the facades of the two brothers, but in this one there was even more ( ... )

So it was her. Well. That was...interesting. Dean hadn't been able to tell Sam much about his doctor; all Sam got out of him was that she was someone to keep an eye on, which, frankly, pretty much everyone fell into that category in one way or another.

Time to see for himself, he supposed. At least he already had a heads up about what his so-called life was like after living through it for twenty-four hours. The way it all touched on pretty much every single trigger in his actual life, no, he wasn't surprised Dean had been thrown for a loop when he had no idea what was coming. Even now-it was obvious someone had done their homework on the patients here, and if that thought wasn't uncomfortable, nothing would be ( ... )

It was likely that Eric had mentioned her to his brother, especially since he'd been rather interestingly annoyed by the ordered sedation in Doyleton last week. Why, she wasn't entirely certain -- there had been mechanical problems with the buses, she'd heard, and they were delayed, which meant that by the time patients returned to the Institute he should have been back to normal. Or what passed for normal with him, rather. He seemed the type to have complained to others who would listen, and his own brother? Makiko had guessed there was a strained relationship between them, but not so much so that they wouldn't speak at all ( ... )

Yukari was pleased this morning.

She had found a new subject of interest, one Michelangelo who shared powers that were interesting both in their similarity to her own and in their differences. She had obtained some new clothes - well, it was an incomplete outfit, but oh well. And she had been allowed to sleep in as well. To add to this, today she got to do something newCheerily following her nurse, Yukari walked down the hall with all the doctors offices, smirking as she passed the one where she had cornered Sheena. Ah, memories. How vivid now, how vague and fleeting they would become. But enough of the past, now for the present ( ... )

Ah, and here was Violet. A quick glance established Makiko's level of interest in the woman (though she reminded herself not to judge too quickly, as even the less fascinating could become more so given time and prompting), and the doctor inclined her head slightly in greeting. Most of her patients weren't quite so cheerful, when they arrived; perhaps this one enjoyed her delusions? Or was there something else to it?

She glanced down at the file again, absently riffling through the pages until she reached the end, then picked up her pen and uncapped it. "Good morning, Violet," she replied, her tone entirely neutral. "I'm Dr. Kisugi. How are you feeling today?" Best to start with the preliminaries, then see if she wanted to go anywhere from there. Perhaps she would. Perhaps not.

Ah, so serious. Yukari hoped she didn't stay that way. It would be quite boring then, and the youkai was actually not intending to stir up trouble now for her own amusement. Well, they'd see how long that lasted - either of their good behavior, that was.

"I'm feeling well, thank you," she said politely. Then without so much as a change in tone or expression, she added, "Much better than I was three days ago."

For a moment, the corner of her mouth may have twitched up with what was a smirk, or maybe it had just been nothing more than a nervous tick. Yukari couldn't resist seeing how her doctor might react to that little jab - though bringing up that day did open her up to certain risks...

Three days ago? Makiko raised one brow slightly in silent inquiry as she glanced down at the file. No, nothing significant there, as she'd thought -- there was a vague note about some brief "improvement" a few days prior, but nothing to indicate that Violet should have found that somehow amusing. Or, well, whatever that was supposed to mean.

"Were you somehow feeling worse then?" the doctor asked, returning her attention from file to patient once more. Might as well humor her and see where it led.
