The week was almost over, and hopefully the next would be back to normal; Makiko rather disliked having her routine disturbed, even when said routine was as newly established as this one was. All of her annoyance disappeared, however, as soon as she heard the news that morning. Dr. Burroughs had apparently left, her patients distributed among the

It did mean he didn't get a hell of a lot of time to mull over what had gone down last night, with Ruby especially (and crap, he definitely had to find her before the day was up to talk about this), before his nurse cheerfully delivered him in front of an office door. One of the doctors' offices, apparently. Which...well, okay, so maybe this wasn't ideal, but there could be worse fates in store. He'd only have to spend some time talking, right? He could talk. He could talk real well, actually. He'd had his share of school counselors and teachers who asked too many questions. And yeah, it sounded like these doctors were all more suspicious than not, but it didn't seem as if anyone came out of these sessions missing a limb ( ... )

"You would be Matthew Derringer, correct?" The doctor's gaze flicked briefly from him to one of the files before her, then back up again as she gestured toward the chair in front of her desk. "I'm Dr. Kisugi. How are you feeling today?"
Outwardly she was all business and no sign of emotion. Inwardly, though, her interest -- and accordingly, the ever-present hunger -- had flared significantly as soon as she'd laid eyes on the man. There was a certain family resemblance, complementary cracks in the facades of the two brothers, but in this one there was even more ( ... )

Time to see for himself, he supposed. At least he already had a heads up about what his so-called life was like after living through it for twenty-four hours. The way it all touched on pretty much every single trigger in his actual life, no, he wasn't surprised Dean had been thrown for a loop when he had no idea what was coming. Even now-it was obvious someone had done their homework on the patients here, and if that thought wasn't uncomfortable, nothing would be ( ... )

She had found a new subject of interest, one Michelangelo who shared powers that were interesting both in their similarity to her own and in their differences. She had obtained some new clothes - well, it was an incomplete outfit, but oh well. And she had been allowed to sleep in as well. To add to this, today she got to do something newCheerily following her nurse, Yukari walked down the hall with all the doctors offices, smirking as she passed the one where she had cornered Sheena. Ah, memories. How vivid now, how vague and fleeting they would become. But enough of the past, now for the present ( ... )

She glanced down at the file again, absently riffling through the pages until she reached the end, then picked up her pen and uncapped it. "Good morning, Violet," she replied, her tone entirely neutral. "I'm Dr. Kisugi. How are you feeling today?" Best to start with the preliminaries, then see if she wanted to go anywhere from there. Perhaps she would. Perhaps not.

"I'm feeling well, thank you," she said politely. Then without so much as a change in tone or expression, she added, "Much better than I was three days ago."
For a moment, the corner of her mouth may have twitched up with what was a smirk, or maybe it had just been nothing more than a nervous tick. Yukari couldn't resist seeing how her doctor might react to that little jab - though bringing up that day did open her up to certain risks...

"Were you somehow feeling worse then?" the doctor asked, returning her attention from file to patient once more. Might as well humor her and see where it led.
