Day 46: Doctor's Office 10 (Dr. Burroughs) [Fourth Shift]

Dec 26, 2009 05:13

Well, that could have gone better, but, from the patient's file and the track record here for stubborn patients, it could have gotten a lot worse. Jacob was wary, understandably, and didn't want to cooperate in terms of speaking personally. He was avoidant and shy, but had enough control over himself to not give into whatever alternate personality ( Read more... )

Talking with Alex over lunch hadn't been what Jason had expected, as far as he'd had any expectations at all. He still wasn't sure what to make of the guy. Something about him made Jason wary, though it could just be that having been caught lying once already had reminded him he should watch his step. Although, Alex had gotten in contact with Drake which could cause problems with him if they met up. But little Timmy would have his own problems to deal with soon enough ( ... )

Jason sauntered in as the doc opened the door, gaze flicking around to take in the room and the doctor herself. Pretty boring all up. The poster on the wall was odd but that was it. The doctor herself didn't look like anything special - young, not unattractive, average build. Unless she was a metahuman he could overpower her easily enough if he had to. He was unarmed but Jason knew his own strength, knew that if he wanted to he could kill her with his bare hands. It was strange then, that he was being left alone in an enclosed room with her. The nurses had only seen his disappointingly brief fight with Harley but from the lecture he'd received this morning and the state both he and his roommate were in they had to be aware of what had gone on last night. So it seemed a big risk to leave him alone with her ( ... )

For being stubborn, he was playing this awfully smart. No signs of shyness or resistance, no severe hesitation. He was still eying her like a target, which was fine with her - she could take care of herself surprisingly well. The real problem would be his safety if the orderlies were slow at her call.

Her face briefly paled at the realization that she was thinking of hurting someone, none the less internally boasting about how well she could do it. Goddamn it...

She took a swig of her coffee before setting the mug down again. If he was going to play smart, she didn't have grounds to sugar coat anything. Maggie picked up the file, his file, and casually flipped through it. "Files aren't that conclusive. They only tell you an outsider's perspective and no matter how close you can get to understanding what's going on, there's no better source than the horse itself." She paused, peering up at him from the folder. "If you'll pardon the analogy.

"So how about it? At least tell me what's on your mind?"

Hadn't they tortured his mind enough for one week? Scourge had no idea if they were going to be doing Torkulon-style therapy or a special brand courtesy of Dr. Landel, but either way he wasn't going to let them take him again without a fight. Strange, how threatening his life made him roll over like a scared bumble-puppy but threatening his mind made him ready to coat his hands in crimson human blood--if he had the courage to actually face Lugnut after yesterday the larger Decepticon might have actually been proud of him ( ... )

Maggie had seen terrifying things. She'd seen demons, the source of her nightmares for years, the mutilated bodies of innocent people (some of them even being her patients), and, on top of it all, her father trying to make her into another him. She saw the worst anything could ever give her the second she closed her eyes and the reasonably paralyzing and insomnia-inducing fear of letting something evil loose the minute she started to dream. She knew scary ( ... )

The abrupt, screeching halt of enraged gears was evident on Scourge's face as his stalwart expression of anger dissolved to confusion. He'd had a rebuke all planned out for when she called him that disgusting human name and here she'd gone and called him 'Scourge'. It had to be some sort of trick--or was she one of them? Maybe she was brainwashed too, like Lockdown and some of the others had been, and was really someone completely normal underneath that veneer of being normal. Maybe she knew who he really was but couldn't help being in an office chair in a suit drinking whatever that funny smelling earthy brown water stuff was.

"No, I don't want to sit down. I don't want to be in your stupid squishy office at all," Scourge growled, attempting to compensate for his previous lack of scary Decepticon dignity. He pointed one pink claw at her. "And if you try messing with my head like they did yesterday I'll tear your face off."

"Squishy office." That was a new one. She could hear Tracy laughing about it already.

Instead of talking in circles further about how he should sit down, Maggie just listened to the man with clinical interest. "They?" Did he mean those 'monsters'? ...No. If he was pointing his anger at her, he had to be thinking of a staff member. From his attitude now and what she read in his file, it was obvious he got rowdy and had to be sedated. She'd have to double-check with the nurses, but for now she needed to know his own views on the matter. "What happened yesterday?"
