Day 46: Breakfast

Dec 12, 2009 11:15

For the second time, Rika found herself waking with a start. She blinked at the grey light streaming through the windows, and looked across the room. Anise was still asleep. So. I'm still here. Let me just check...Rika put on her slippers and walked over to the desk, checking the drawer and breathing a light sigh of relief. Good, the knife was ( Read more... )

Well, that had gone better than expected than a night including a brainwashed, belligerent Cybertronian and a large cat-human-thing. 'Sfinks'? Certainly a species he'd never heard of before. Oh well. If it was constrained enough by either rules or stupidity to give shiny things rather than attacking as it obviously wanted to when given a correct answer to a riddle, he saw no reason why it should be deemed a threat.

HK poked at his food as usual, eating just a bit more than was absolutely necessary for function (the 'waffle' things had sweet stuff on them), waiting to see what sort of entertainment the day would bring.

[Closed to one GLORIOUS DECEPTICON!]

Lugnut hadn't even managed that properly.

He lay dully in his berth, staring at he wall and ignoring the piercing complaints and cajoles of the nurse. Who cared about the humans? Nothing he did would free him, so why should he cooperate?

Still, after a few minutes, it became more wearying to listen to it than it was to cooperate, so Lugnut dragged himself upright and wobblingly followed when she pulled him. He felt achingly empty, without Megatron, without Blitzwing, without even that coward Scourge or the Maximal...

The nurse, once they reached the refueling area, forced a tray piled with food into Lugnut's hands, then left him standing there, staring with bleary red eyes into space.

Methinks an infusion of further gloriousness is in order for the emocon! arc_wrench December 12 2009, 20:58:37 UTC
HK found himself rather distracted by noticing Lockdown (Lance, still? He hoped not) being attacked by someone. Whoever that was would soon be meeting the pointy end of a hypo full of sedatives. That would be amusing to watch.

Oh, and there was Lugnut, looking... less than GLORIOUSLY DECEPTICON. He tried to look noticeable. And like a good candidate for Decepticonishness.

LUGNUT IS NOT EMO, HE'S... okay yeah he's an emocon. hailmegatron December 12 2009, 21:08:54 UTC
After a few moments, Lugnut vaguely noticed HK-47 looking at him, and looked back, sparklessly.

... Did the bot want something?

Lugnut made his way slowly over, sitting unsteadily across from his fellow robot.

Frankly, Recluse couldn't have brought himself to care about anything that had happened last night. Landel's gloating had just been irritating, and since Marcus hadn't responded to him again yesterday, he'd decided to simply stay in his room and work on fabricating more weapons, and preparing more rust and aluminum powder for thermite. At least it was dark and no one had bothered him, which was exactly what he had been wanting recently, beyond the continued wish to be back within the bounds of the country he ruled, quashing whatever rebellious sentiments that might have sprung up if his absence had been for any considerable length of time. It was impossible to tell, what with the oddities of dimensional travel.

So now, he had his daily pounding headache thanks to the bright lights and all the irritation that came with it and the closeness of other people, but at least his night had been somewhat productive, unlike all the other nights he'd had to spend with Marcus.

Blinking her eyes awake, Falis stared at the ceiling as whisps of memories flitted through her mind. A brother named David. Some game called soccer. Being terrified of herself, of hurting others. Just wanted people to like her and afraid they wouldn't. Rose.

Rose. Rose was such a fucking pansy Falis was disgusted that any kind of magic could make her that pathetic ( ... )

"And a good morning to you," Recluse replied, utterly deadpan. "Arachnos had developed several specific restraints for magic users, which were quite effective. Unfortunately, I have none of them here."

"So, you had some problem yesterday beyond the mass brainwashing?"

"Fuck," Falis replied, stabbing her waffle viciously. And here she'd been hoping Recluse would have something up his sleeve to make it easier for her to deal with the magic just so she could enjoy killing whatever fucking witch did that to her.

"No, that's the problem. I am not a fucking spineless child that's scared of her own fucking shadow," she growled. "That was some really powerful magic to make me think I was some kind of delicate flower that was terrified I'd hurt someone. Give me a fucking break. Someone like that isn't worthy of my crown, much less my damn title."

Sakura woke sluggishly after a good night's rest. Who the hell wanted a good night's rest! This is bullshit!! She tore her sheets before violently throwing them to the ground. Just what the hell had they done?! She didn't remember being taken for brainwashing or a genjutsu or even some kind of rare body invasion jutsu, it was none of that! So how had they done it? Just the thought of prancing around yesterday as some vapid, air-headed, bratty teenager was enough to make her ( ... )

[Oh hai! From here]

The room was filled with people, but the nurse loaded up his plate and led him toward one in particular: an older girl with a reddish forehead. She seemed vaguely familiar in a way he couldn't place, but then, he didn't always trust his sense of recognition. Because she was wearing the same grey stuff, she probably wasn't one of the nurse-like people, meaning that she might be able to help him. Without looking at his food (and without really looking at her forehead, no more than a glance), he started, "I'm looking for a girl, about my age and she's maybe this tall--" his hand's height didn't indicate much since he was seated "--with purple marks on her cheeks and her hair's kind of brown but a tiny bit red and shortish--" another gesture "--and her name's Rin. Have you seen her?" He wanted to finish this as quickly as possible. He had to finish this as quickly as possible ( ... )

Sakura narrowed her eyes as she looked up at her visitor. Seriously, who the hell didn't get that she was giving off enough stay away vibes to rival even Sasuke? She gave him an appraising glance and took the description into account without having to think much about it. She paid attention and she hadn't seen anyone that matched the description. But given his second question, it was just as likely that he was new and probably pretty confused.

Great start to a great day, she was sure. After giving an audible sigh, she gestured to the chair across from her. "You're new, right? I haven't seen your friend, but sit down, this is gonna take a minute and you really do wanna hear it."

"Uhm..." The way she phrased the question made him uneasy, and it showed. "New? I mean, I don't know where I am, but I can't stay here." 'New' made it sound like she expected him to be around for a while, and that definitely wasn't all right. Still, he sat down across from her, eager for any information. The more he could find out, the sooner he could get out and back to what needed to be done. Obito couldn't stand thinking of what might be happening to Rin while he was sitting in some safe-seeming room with a bunch of people he didn't recognize, possibly not even in the same country, possibly not even conscious. He tapped his plastic fork against the edge of his tray impatiently, but it didn't seem to be a hint directed at Sakura. Obito's expression was determined, but the anxiety behind it was very poorly disguised ( ... )

Usopp was really not fond of that ceiling voice now. It didn't help that he had absolutely no recollection of walking from Sai's room back to his own room, or how he'd fallen asleep before jerking awake to the voice again. Asking if his roommate had passed the night all right, and what if anything he'd learned about this place, was not an option as the nurses didn't take long to show up in the room and start herding their patients out for breakfast. After remembering what Sai had said about nurses turning into horrible monsters, Usopp didn't argue a bit, even at being called Terence ( ... )

The night had been short, as was terribly expected, however it allowed Brook to still feel ready for the morning once it arrived. Brook greeted his nurse warmly and was questioning her about the possibility of friends suddenly wanting to be called by other names when he was left in the cafeteria by his lonesome. He didn't understand why the nurse suddenly vanished on him all the time, but he supposed it was because they wanted him to eat rather than gossip with the staff ( ... )

Usopp blinked at the sound of his name called across the room, then looked up from his waffles in confusion as a strange man wandered over. Looked up, and looked up some more. Tall... perfect afro... and 'yohoho'ing.

If they had been friends before, it wasn't any wonder why. He'd be the spitting image of Brook, if Brook had a face. Usopp had the lingering feeling he'd narrowly avoided a skull joke told by himself to himself, yet wasn't sure he wanted to.

"Hi! I just got here. Or got back. I don't remember anything, anyway, um..." Usopp didn't have to gesture for the other man to sit down, as he'd done so already, so he just went back to work on his waffles and glanced over at the man, waiting for a name. Could two people who were so similar exist? Well, it had to be possible, if you had time travel or multiple worlds and crazy things like that going on. Sai had even said something about people coming back from the dead.

Got here or got back? Did he mean...? Oh! So like Cloud and Zoro then! Brook laughed again. "That seems to be happening an awful lot lately! Yohohoho! But then I suppose that makes it all a bit easier to understand!" Even if he still didn't all the way understand it still. How people were pulled from their world and drug here was beyond him as a start, but now for people to be taken from other times and places...

Ah, that reminded him! Instead of starting on his food (he'd get there eventually!), he pointed a long finger at his face. "Ah, you know who I am this time?" he questioned, not quite sure. Usopp had greeted him here, as had Zoro before, but when both had been here the last time, neither one had known him! Sanji had been the only one who had actually known his name as well!

Minato was awake before he opened his eyes. He found it difficult to move, as if his body rejected the idea of leaving the bed. It didn't take long for him to remember why; through a painful haze, he recalled being pulled out of his room, dragged down the hall and up the stairs, and then ( ... )

Last night had been... well... incredibly uneventful. Nothing at all had happened, and despite himself, Souji had not stirred from his bed all night. He felt horrible about it this morning; he'd expected to get more done, and what if Kanji had been left alone? Ah, he was a terrible team leader nowadays ( ... )

His nurse had explained away his headache as him falling out of bed and hitting it hard against the side of the bed frame. While Minato had silently taken those lies in, he knew all too well that the nurses wouldn't acknowledge what he had gone through last night. He wondered just how they could do such things.

Minato kept his eyes on the ground in front of him as he walked, as that helped keep his headache to a minimum. However, a different ache caught his attention as he walked through the cafeteria, and he glanced to one side to see Souji beside him.

"Rough night," he sighed, watching the nurse in front of him. She seemed relieved that someone else was talking to him, moving to one side so he could access the food line.

By this point, Souji was used enough to the headache that he barely acknowledged it. He adapted pretty quickly, and it was only a dull ache anyway. He was more concerned about Arisato- it took him a moment, but when he realized that he was probably just making it worse, he started to sweat a little.

"Er, am I making it worse?" He tapped the side of his head, certain that the other boy would know what he was talking about. And if he was, he wouldn't mind giving Minato some space. ...well, he might, a little bit, because it was frustrating as anything to be unable to help someone who clearly needed it, but he would.
