There didn't seem to be any of the typical night-time traffic. It was a little weird, but then again, she had practically thrown herself out of the door this time. No wonder she'd managed to beat the rush ( Read more... )

Coming out into the main hallway, Hime spotted only one other. She was ahead of the flow of patients that had been present at the beginning of last night. Settling against the wall between the two doors leading to the patients rooms, Hime waited to see who would be coming by with one ear listening for more hostile approaches.

Now, where was someone that looked like she could use?

[Waiting for Sokka and Kagura(?)]

The mention of Kagura having died last night got Sokka to lose his attempted cheerful demeanor, "Y-yeah...," he said, looking down, "I'm... sorry I couldn't do anything. I tried, really...!" He knew Kagura had already said it was all right, but Sokka still felt as though he shouldn't have been so useless then. It wasn't right that she had been so hurt while he'd just watched and faded away!

Thinking about it now didn't help though, and Sokka tried to get away from even his apology by going back to the subject. "I'm not sure what I'll do. He was supposed to come by my room, or at least someone was, but it's been a while and no one showed up. If it wasn't him or his friends... I'd be a little more worried, but... I just don't know." Sokka scratched his head and sighed.

Hime made no indication of even noticing the apology; after all, it wasn't directed at her nor was it any of her concern at this moment.

"Something may have come up; this place does seem to enjoy springing surprises on one," noted the princess. "Was his reason for finding you very urgent?"

Regardless of exact qualifications, Sokka seemed able-bodied enough to be worth dragging along on their expedition, but if he was preoccupied with his friend or the matter involved, then that usefulness might become a liability instead.

"It's alright," Kagura replied with what she hoped was an encouraging smile. Frankly Kagura wasn't really bothered anymore with how she had "died" last night; although the issue with Yomi remained unsolved, but this wasn't the place for that. Not wanting to drag this issue out anymore for Sokka's sake, Kagura shifted the topic back to tonight's plans.

"Hime and I were going to check out the Doctor's offices, and see if we could find any information on what's going on. If you'd like, maybe you could join us?" Feeling slightly nervous, Kagura looked back and forth between Sokka and Hime, trying to measure their reactions. She didn't want to leave Sokka waiting out here by himself where he could be attacked, but then again, Sokka might want to wait for his allies, and Kagura also wanted to make sure Hime was okay with it. Hopefully, they would both see that three people in a group was probably safer than two.

"I... guess it wasn't," Sokka admitted though he actually wasn't sure. It was important enough for Shika to setup a meeting beforehand, but did that mean it was important? Sokka didn't know the other enough to know that much, and given how Shika'd been that day, there was no telling if he'd been getting important or non-important matters taken care of. "He was supposed to come, or at least send someone else, to come and get this," Shika held up the blade and tilted his head at it, "I might not know him all that well but... it's not like him not to have a backup in case something goes wrong." He didn't think. Shika seemed pretty resourceful, so if something had come up, odds were he would have found a way around it or at least have sent a note or something ( ... )

"Unless it has a specific purpose, I'm sure you can return the blade to him another time," said Hime. "If he can't make good on his meetings, that's his own problem. Besides, now we have a real weapon." Kagura's closet rod and Hime's knife were nowhere near as threatening as the blade presented.

"Then it's decided," said Hime with a nod. "We should move quickly; the night ends suddenly and without warning."
