Losing one's head was certainly a unique experience. So few knew that for a few seconds, after having been decapitated, there was still consciousness. During those few seconds, the average person, especially a human, would think some kind of amazing revelation occurred, as if the decapitated finally understood the meaning of the universe or why they had existed at all.
The sad thing was, the truth was far from that. The only thought that went through a decapitated's mind during that moment was, 'Oh shit, I've lost my head. Damn.' Or ( ... )

Shiba Kuukaku blinked in confusion as she stared up at the unfamiliar ceiling, trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
She last remembered scolding her brother after one of his 'trainings' before getting back inside to get herself some sake. So why had she suddenly awakened on a thin mattress in a room that was...obviously not part of her damned house? Hell, this didn't even come close to her tastes. The room was sparse and only reminded her of some infirmary. Only she couldn't remember getting hurt. And she wasn't stupid enough to drink so much sake that she couldn't remember what the hell had happened to her some night previous.
So what the hell was up with this bullshit?
"Hey!" she called out, voice sounding demanding and not all that pleased. "Someone tell me what the hell's goin' on here!"
A second passed. And another. Silence. Either someone did a damn good job of ignoring her, or there was no one around. But she wanted answers, and she wanted them now. If no one was going to show up and tell her ( ... )
