See, Dahlia was perfectly fine with the idea of going back to the asylum and working out an escape from there. She was fine with running around behind sweet little Sync to wherever he wanted to go, just so long as she had something to shove into the danger if she had to.
Unfortunately, there was a difference between last night and this little trick.
Last night? She was safe. So long as she had big, strong Kibby to back her up, anything that came at her just wouldn't be there, or at least it would give her enough time to run away. This? This?!
Really, she didn't notice Sync's own argument with those... (she would say zombie, since the description fit, but she wasn't saying the z-word. It was ridiculous) walking corpses, since one decided to come up on her side, too. It was grabbing at her arm, yanking her towards it with its teeth bared inches away from her skin. Ugh, this stupid, disgusting thing was-You know what? Appearances be damned. If anything, Sy was going to get eaten anyway, so why bother in front of him anymore? Dahlia
( ... )
Like Dahlia, Sync hardly noticed the redhead's presence as he continued to slam the creature's head onto the counter. It was only until the thing was still did he shove it away, quickly spinning around and delivering a hard roundhouse kick to its face into another pair that had been approaching him.
In a way this sudden fight was more exhilarating than he ever would've imagined, and in his excitement he rushed forward and delivered a hard uppercut to the nearest monster. He felt the rotten skin slip up against his own, and a feeling of elation soared up inside him when he heard a loud crack, indicating that he had shattered bone.
It was only until he temporarily cleared his path did he remember Dahlia, whipping his head about when he heard a loud clang and caught sight over as she sneered at her target.
"You looked like you were enjoying that," Sync started, his wide smile betraying him even as he tried to sound calm.
Well, it looked like her suspicions were founded after all. She'd say she was impressed, but really, it was just nice to have company who could take care of themselves. The fact that he had been playing her like she was playing him just annoyed her.
"Ha! Look who's talking!" Dahlia tossed some hair over her shoulder- Where those things still coming?!
They were bigger than she was, no surprised, but that didn't mean she was afraid of them. She wasn't afraid of ANYTHING. Yes, yes, try to bite her. Try it after she slammed that skillet straight up and crushed your rotten jaws in! Try to grab her when she broke your wrists! Just try it!
She managed to make her way to where Sync was, taking care of the things in her way when she had to. She grabbed a package of knives and tore it open, taking the tools and wrapping them in cloth napkins before shoving two in her sweater pockets. The last, she just carried in one hand, skillet in the other. Everything else that was sharp and useful right by her just got tossed into a knife bag and slung

"Does it look like I'm denying it?" So it looked like Dahlia wasn't 'Little Miss Airhead' after all. Ha! That didn't mean he thought of her as an equal, but at least this meant he found someone that might actually be of some use. Of course there were plenty of other people in the institute like that, and so he was prepared to sacrifice her for his own sake if need be

After a few minutes of shoving his way through crowds of zombies with his Tasty Burger tray, Porky finally made it to Kitchin Fixins'. Thankfully, there didn't seem to be as many zombies in here, but the store was by no means empty. Then again, if there were less zombies, then that meant that other patients had been here...and that meant that there might not be any lighters left for Porky to steal!
Worried that his trip had been all for naught, Porky ran to the counter of the store. After all, that's where the lighters always were, right? Up by the cash register? Oh, God, Porky hoped they were there. He didn't have the time to search the entire store.
"Success!" Porky shouted in delight as soon as he saw a stack of lighters under the counter. Without a moment to spare, Porky grabbed five lighters at first, and then decided to take the rest of them with him, half out of caution and half out of spite for the other patients. Besides, it was finders keepers, right? It's not like anyone had bothered to help Porky when he

[From here]Alfred had found his way to the kitchen wares store shortly after he'd eaten lunch. He'd wound up spending the majority of his afternoon browsing the store's selection. It wasn't as though he could purchase any of it, given his current situation, but it was comforting to fall back on things that were familiar to him. Alfred had circled around the store several times - glancing outside at intervals - and was starting to wonder when they were going to get back on the buses as he watched the sun sink lower in the sky

Once Anise was in the store, it was immediately obvious that it wasn't any safer inside than it was outside. The moans and groans of the undead were unmistakable, and the floor was littered with smashed up boxes and broken floorboards. "They came through here too!?" Anise gasped, looking at one of the holes in the floor.
There were sounds of feet dragging against the floor, and they grew closer with each passing second. It hadn't taken long for the monsters roaming the aisles to notice their entry. They needed to get their hands on some useful stuff, fast! Anise backed up a little as she scanned the store for what she wanted. There was a big mess of boxes over where the knives were, so that was an obvious place to start looking.
Being somewhat inexperienced with bladed weapons, though, Anise hoped she could find something a little more suitable for herself.
Leonard stepped into the store behind the girl, shutting the door and immediately scanning the area for a defensive position and a weapon. "So it would seem," he said, answering the girl's question. The rank smell that had pervaded the air outside was in the store, as well. Looks like this place isn't entirely safe, he mused. A pounding came from the door behind them- Fuck.
"We need to move," he said, taking a few steps into the place. "Let's find anything we can use to defend ourselves, see if there's any survivors, and get the Hell out of here." Surely there's an area safer than this out there, but I'd rather not risk looking without something hard or sharp in my hands.
The side of the store featuring knives and other indoor wares seemed a mess. Don't care if it's by looters or zombies- either way, the destruction looks bad. His eyes caught sight of one of the shambling monsters coming from one of the aisles. "Company. Great." Another emerged behind the first, both moaning as they neared Leonard and his ward
( ... )
If nothing else, Anise was quick on her feet. As soon as the aisle she had her eyes on was no longer blocked, she made a dash for it. Fortunately, the creature that had wandered out of it was distracted by the man with her, and didn't have time to react when she ran right past it
( ... )
The zombies thankfully ignored the small girl and kept coming toward him; Leonard hadn't put much thought into what he'd do if they had turned their decomposing bodies toward her and followed her into the aisle.
Both zombies reached Leonard at almost the same time- one made a lunge for him, but Lenny was much quicker than the shambling man, ramming the sharp edge of the spatula into his throat. The weak, rotting flesh gave away quickly, causing the monster to crumple onto Lenny. He'd only shoved off the first zombie as the second reached him, grasping for his arm and gnashing gnarled teeth. The beast's mouth didn't make it to his prey's arm and Leonard slung his arm out, flinging the monster into a rack of spices and jars.
The first creature was still alive, gurgling on the floor through his damaged neck as his body twitched. Leonard felt a brief pang of remorse, but pushed that thought out of his mind- I don't know where the hell these things came from, but I'm not letting them get me, or anyone else, if I can help it.He

The inside of the building was as putrid as the blotches of rotten flesh dotting it. Sebastian was not particularly impressed by the numbers of corpses still wandering in it, but one look at the store's wares and it was clear how useful this stop would be. Shifting to the side as another corpse lunged for them, Sebastian tucked his master close and started towards the shelves.
Ciel's uncovered eye widened as he was lifted up from the ground and into Sebastian's arms in what was undoubtedly a very humiliating and awkward position for him. Regardless of the threat or not, he refused to be carried around like a dainty young maiden who was incapable of losing her own legs to run.
"Sebastian!" he protested, turning slightly red-faced as he was whisked away from the creatures, "I do not require you to carry me to safety! Put me down this instant!"
He just hoped nobody else was paying attention to catch him like -like this! They'd probably already aroused enough suspicion earlier with Sebastian's behavior on the bus ride. Plus all that sneaking around and hiding behind the bushes together to talk might have given away the wrong impression
( ... )
Luckily for Ciel, it wasn't until the two of them were "safely" in the shop that the butler had remotely enough room to set the boy down. The corpses were beginning to surround them again, but there was neither alarm nor smugness on Sebastian's face when he looked up at the surrounding shelves and discerned accurately that they were in the silverware section.
Pulling out a drawer containing sets of forks, spoons, and butterknives, Sebastian wasted no time in picking a fork and sending it flying straight into the forehead of a corpse that'd been threatening from behind them before whirling around and finishing the job with a kick. With the shelves on one side and the corpses on another, it was starting to look as if they were going to be backed into a dead-end. Pocketing more silverware, Sebastian shifted to step between his master and the corpses, buying Ciel time to pick out a weapon as he aimed the silverware at the approaching corpses, wave by wave, one by one.
They were still coming from every direction, bearing down on them with their rotting teeth and their grubby hands. Ciel managed to duck in time to avoid being impaled by any of the silverware, but it only managed to slow them down instead of killing them entirely. He opted for something sharper and deadlier for himself, grabbing the first butcher's knife he could find. Unfortunately, he'd overestimated his own strength in wielding it and clumsily threw it, the knife ending up stuck to the floor rather than the chests of any of the creatures
