At least on this side of the institute there were no angry giant robots that changed into automobiles.  Of all the weird monsters, that was definitely one of the strangest.

He glanced over the field, just to make sure it really was safe before crossing it, heading straight for the wall at the other end.  It would be a pain climbing it ( Read more... )

Sora thought they had made good time, all things considered. There was still a chance something would stop them here, but he was hoping that if they didn't delay too much then nothing would bother them. He followed after Allen, taking a quick look around and noting that it didn't seem like anyone had been here before them. He wondered if any of the other patients had actually been able to get past that car...

Like Allen, Sora wasn't looking forward to putting his wounded body under the strain that climbing the wall required, but there wasn't really any other choice. Once he reached the bottom of the north wall, he glanced toward Allen. "So how are we going to do this?" Usually they gave each other boosts, and he figured they both probably needed that since they weren't in the best shape right now.

Allen paused when they reached the wall, giving it a worried look. If they were both sporting injuries, this might be a bit of trouble. He looked over at Sora, still trying to be polite.

"You can go first, I'll help you up," he insisted.

"I'm fine, really," he added, just in case that wasn't enough. At that, he crouched slightly, putting his hands out, ready to give Sora a leg up.

Sora didn't really have any problem with Allen's suggestion. As far as he could tell, he was the one who was more injured, so it made sense for him to be the one who went up the easier way. Besides, one of them was going to have to do it, and they might as well not waste time bickering over it.

It actually kind of reminded him of when he, Goofy, and Donald had all balanced on top of each other in order to reach things that were too high for any of them to get to on their own. It usually resulted in them collapsing into a pile on the floor, which hopefully wouldn't happen with him and Allen. That would hurt.

After throwing his flashlight and cord over the wall, Sora hiked himself up onto Allen's hands and then reached for the top of the wall, pulling himself up with some strain. It worked the muscles in his shoulders and back, pulling at the wounds there, but he grit his teeth and worked through it until he was up on the top. He precariously reached down toward Allen in the hopes of helping him up as well.

It wasn't too difficult to push Sora up, though it was more effort than he remembered. What would hurt was straining the muscles on his chest when he climbed up after. It was troublesome, but when Sora reached down, he took hold of the other boy's hand.

He did his best not to pull too hard, but he winced when the motion pulled at his stitches. Once he had a hand on the edge, he hurried to pull himself up and over. There was a groan as he reached the top, but at least they'd made it this far.

"That was harder than I remember," Allen said with a sigh as he sat up, looking down at the area just beyond the fence.

It was chilly outside and she hugged her arms to her chest as best she could while holding the flashlight. Stupid weather. The walls were within sight though and no obstructions or weird genjutsus that weren't really genjutsu.

For a ninja, leaping from tree to tree was as normal as breathing. But here it was like carrying around some of Gai-sensei's lame-ass weights around no matter where they went. Maybe Rock Lee could still cope, but for her it was impossible!

Ugh, well a stupid wall wasn't going to stop them. She took a running start and jumped up, managing to catch the edge and land gracefully at the top.

"Let's go!" she urged the others on.

Jiraiya smirked and supposed he was next. Just like Sakura, he took a running start before jumping, easily puling himself up to land on the top a few feet away from her. If only he had his full abilities, he could've jumped from where he had been standing before and easily landed on the wall.

He glanced back at Naruto. "C'mon kiddo, you're next! Bonus points if you manage to knock me off the wall!"

Of course, he was only joking. Hopefully Naruto realized that. ... Otherwise, this was gonna hurt.

Naruto chuckled at Jiraiya's tease, taking a few steps back before running up and grabbing the edge of the wall as well, hoisting himself up the rest of the way. He looked back at the Institute, shuddering slightly in the cold night air and just at how creepy the place looked.

While Sakura was tempted for a few seconds to take Jiraiya up on his offer for bonus points, at least the old man had lifted Naruto's spirits some. He was laughing in a genuine sort of way and if she was really honest with herself, seeing Naruto at ease made her feel a little better too.

Not that she liked him or anything! He'd just matured a lot and it was respect, that's all! Respect!

Something close to a genuine smile crossed her lips, but it was gone a second later as she hopped down from the wall.
