Dayshift 22: Chapel

Feb 18, 2007 01:58

Claire woke up in her room just like before, with little idea of how she actually got there. This time, though, she noticed something different about the room. There was another young woman, a blond, sleeping in a bed across from her. Before questioning that, though, she made sure to hide the items she'd gotten that night in her closet, shutting ( Read more... )

The chapel had not been a conscious choice for Aya, but he didn't bother correcting the nurse who seemed content with his decision. The gray legs of his pants flapping against his ankles, slippers slapping against the polished floors rhythmically as he walked after her towards the chapel.

The name she used for him was completely unfamiliar, and nothing in this place ringed a bell.

"Excuse me.." he addressed the nurse again. "Could I use the phone?" If this was some kind of Kritiker facility, Mamoru would still be waiting for a report from him.

"Unfortunately that's not possible," she gave him an apologetic smile and then led him through the chapel doors. "Enjoy yourself, mr. Seto."

Then she was gone, and Aya was left standing right inside the chapel, bewildered and confused out of his mind. What the hell was happening?

And again. Kurama was tempted to groan out of sheer annoyance. They had finally been starting to get somewhere when he suddenly ended up in bed again. And not his usual bed, apparently. There was another bed in the room, though unoccupied and neatly made. As if no one had slept in it yet ( ... )

Aya had been studying the chapel, trying to decide whether to feel utterly freaked out or just assume everything was fine and Mamoru would contact him soon. He felt a bit dizzy, probably a combination of painkillers and sedatives, not an unfamiliar mixture from his previous visits to hospital. His unconsciousness seemed to think fighting was only rational solution when the doctors wanted to strap him to the bed to patch him up.

He frowned as the fact that there were no crosses in the church registered in his brain, and blinked as Kurama addressed him. "I might be lost," he admitted, measuring the other redhead with his cool gaze. "Could you tell me where I can register out from here?"

Obviously his mind had decided to feed in for his delusions for now, ignoring the fact that this odd church was filled with other people dressed in the same kind of uniforms as he was and some of them seemed just as out of it as he himself.

"Register out?" Kurama repeated, giving the other an odd look. Yes, definitely someone new. He smiled, though there was a hint of sadness in at. Mostly from having to inform this person of the hell he'd just been thrown into.

"I'm afraid that's the question we'd all like to know. I assume you just got here this morning?" Kurama took a seat in the nearest pew, patting the wooden bench next to him. "You can join me if you'd like. I'm sure you have questions."

So at least there were others to share his misery. Walking bags of meat and blood, at least. Innocent bystanders who he could fall back on should the staff refuse to provide him with sustenance. He'd stalk one of the weaker ones, yesssss. Ones who would not be missed when he devoured them completely. He would be looking out for such people now.

Alucard decided to linger around the back, taking a seat in one of the pews. Curious that his feet didn't start smoking though. Or any of the adverse effects he would suffer when setting foot on holy ground. The reason made itself clear when he looked around, there were no images of the Cross, Christ, or anything else remotely Christian. The stained-glass windows were nice to look at though. What kind of church was this?

A cult's?

Hmmm. Nothing yet. If they were just dragged here to listen to a damn announce ment about room mates...Alucard would have better things to do. Outright attacking would be out of the question, he would be overwhelmed in under a minute.

So in the absence of any interesting events, the vampire decided to lie down. And take a brief, quick nap.

Otacon arrived in the chapel with the same goal as Snake, and was at least pleased to find that the second floor layout corresponded to the area he and Fox had covered during the Nightshift. He'd heard talk about the hospital randomly changing, and witnessed it for himself this morning when he'd woken up in a completely different room with two beds instead of one. His new roommate had still be asleep when his nurse grabbed him just as he'd moved out of bed (how did they manage that?), and offered the choices of location ( ... )

"I'm all the way in M1. My roommate was still asleep when I woke up. Looks like we're in different patient blocks now." Otacon had paid attention to the room numbers this morning, and was fairly confident about this, and that he could find Snake's room if needed.

The chapel was steadily filling up. He wondered how many were here for faith, mapping, or the Head Doctor's "very big surprise." Otacon studied his friend, counting on Snake to keep a look-out for any signs of the surprise-he was always perceptive, and Otacon didn't expect the loss of an eye to change that.

"No other visions?" He tried to recall what Snake had told him before everything went dark. "You're sure it was a shot they put in your brain? What part? Mei Ling was always working on cerebral nanotechnology, and the doctors here certainly know something about it if they could remove the Codec and Soliton Radar before we came here."

Unmistakably dubious, Dean’s features revealed any and all bewilderment he attempted to conceal. In the time he’d followed the nurse, he’d elevated his shirt to his upper abdomen to stare at the unscathed skin beneath it, ogled yet again at his hands and forearms, and covered up his ongoing bafflement with a small cough and an anxious hand travelling through his hair ( ... )

Rein had watched the man's movement up the aisle with some curiosity, wondering if he might intend to address them while they were gathered and relatively poorly-supervised, but his panicked survey of the room and the morning announcement of names suggested another, correct motive- trying to make sense of a sudden appearance here. It had been strange enough for her, and she was used to her endless series of deaths and awakenings ( ... )

The ‘young man in the middle of a panic attack’ didn’t stir for a few seconds, gaze prolonging its route athwart the ceiling. Painfully vigilant, emerald eyes settled on the stranger with crutches. As a rule, they’d then avert to observe an angle of her figure (since she was relatively attractive), except disorientation prevented it at present.

“Where are we?” The question itself was simple enough, but attached to a faintly quivering persona, it’d be tricky to provide reassurance sufficient to lavish his petrified state.

Where’re Sam and Dad where’re Sam and Dad?

The more speculative answers to the question that sprung to mind did not strike Reinforce as likely to be helpful to someone in his condition. She'd keep things simple for now.

"It's supposedly a psychiatric hospital, but all the patients just appear here." What happened at night, the darker truths, could come later, after he'd calmed down a bit. If she could calm him down... she'd left Hayate crying in the end, she remembered sadly. Rein glanced back at the pews. "...come sit down and I'll explain what I know." She would have offered a hand, but the crutches prevented it.

Once again, Ari woke to find himself staring at the ceiling. Normally, he would have lounged in bed for a bit, but he was still worried about his friends. Qui-Gon had said he was ok, right? And his friend looked ok. Epros, though... The boy felt bad for how he had shouted at him. He'd appreciated Epros' concern and protection, but he'd been so worried ( ... )
