If this little jaunt was any indication, he'd have to recalculate his stamina and other physical statistics; either that or he was just out of shape. He hadn't done a lot of honest to

The hall looked entirely clear. Suzaku wasn't sure if this was a good sign or a bad sign, but the faster they got wherever they were trying to go, the better. He stayed on the alert as he stepped out into the hallway, remaining in front of Lelouch for the time being, until he was sure there wasn't a zombie cat springing at his face out of the darkness. "Do you want to take the lead again?" he asked, keeping one eye on the hall as he glanced back at Lelouch. Now that they were in an open area, it would probably be better for him to stay where Suzaku could see him.

Suzaku rather doubted Lelouch would put his own knight through his cute little version of "due process," but once again, he was entirely within his rights to do so. Suzaku's life effectively belonged to Lelouch. Still -- wait. "Executioner?" Suzaku nearly laughed. "I'd like to see you try." He was once again completely avoiding the issue, not to mention that he wouldn't ordinarily say such things to Lelouch, but the issue wasn't something he considered open for ( ... )

The top of the stairs was quiet as it’d been for the last few times he’d come that way; not having looked ahead, he pausing, cocking an ear to listen for anything out of place. He didn’t hear anything aside from a few voices, and although it was dark, he wasn’t totally blind, especially with the faint sheen of starlight coming from the sun roof to help mark his position.
Nothing here, either. No hulking shadows detaching themselves from the rest with a maniacal laugh. Just him. But knowing the area, he probably wasn’t the only prisoner wandering around.
He never was.

Renamon found herself blinking. It didn't seem like it was the temperature of the area that had rose, but her own instead. She was uncomfortably warm, and felt somewhat light headed. Was this from one of the combatants? Or just the injuries coming more to the surface? In case of the latter, Renamon wouldn't bring it up. Perhaps it would subside.
The Digimon eyed this hallway, too, pausing for a second. "Escape isn't a successful use of time," she explained. "Even running as far as one can outside past the walls, they will wake up in their beds in the morning. Personally, I believe that the key is inside the Institute--either down below, or the higher paths up above that haven't yet been explored." She glanced once at the girl, then stepped forward to continue walking. "Everything's hidden here. The answers are quite as easy to find as one would think."

If the surprise fever hadn't been odd enough, the fact that it disappeared once he got further down the hall left Harvey completely stumped. Logically, it had to have some connection to where he'd been, but...
Had that monster been causing it? He didn't even know how that would figure, but people weren't supposed to look like that and they weren't supposed to hover and dogs weren't supposed to move when they were already rotting and horses weren't supposed to be able to give people intense hallucinations.
Harvey paused, let out a breath, and recollected himself. Yes, things here were beyond strange, but he needed to stop gawking at everything and just keep moving. He had no idea why things like that existed here, but they did, and he was just going to have to deal with it ( ... )

The two of them were speaking too quietly now for Matt to hear, and he'd probably only been lucky enough on the staircase because of the way sound easily carried. He cursed just under his breath, watching carefully for monsters as he kept his distance and thus hopefully adding to the illusion that he wasn't actually following them.
They were probably just doing something boring, like gathering supplies. It figured.
