Night 41: Recreational Field

May 30, 2009 17:40

[From here]Just as in the hallways inside the building, the field looked completely deserted. von Karma saw not a single person nor creature upon it. Far to the northwest was his destination: an old supply shed that contained items that he would find marginally useful to defend himself -- at least until he could acquire something better. As much ( Read more... )

[ from here--passing with permission]

The girl paused at the doorway, eyes scanning the area. Good thing she did, too, because there was a--

...Fuck. Was that a fucking car? Seriously? Talking? Man, someone watched too many movies.

Well, this was ridiculous. First thing tomorrow, Senna would find a different route to get to that town--shorter, and without an enemy almost every night. By the greenhouse, there was.... But that was for another time. She looked back, motioned silently to move around the border of the field, and started off.

Momo entered the rec field to find it empty. She paused and narrowed her eyes, scanning the area for anything. It was quite odd for it to be so empty. Seeing nothing, her sightless left eye keeping her from picking up the tore up ground, she started across to the wall.

Something felt off. She didn't know what it was, but her instincts were telling her to be on guard. She checked to make sure her sword was clear in its sheath. Just to be safe.

Lockdown let the human get a little closer before deciding to spring into action. Playtime again, He thought.

This time he decided to try something a little different. This time he transformed without coming out of stealth mode. The sounds of gears turning and metal shifting was sure to give his current position away, but oh well, perhaps it would scare the human a little.

Lockdown crept along as silently as he could, until he was almost right beside the human. He waited to see what she would do next before he made his move.

[Kino will be joining us soonish]

As soon as she heard the sound of shifting gears, Momo stopped and looked over in the direction she heard the sound coming from. She didn't see anything, which made little sense to her. Something that made that type of sound should have been visible.

Raising her hand to grip the hilt of the sword across her back, the shinigami narrowed her eyes. She wasn't a stranger to the ways kidou could hide one's presence, but unless whatever was making that noise had a soul, she wasn't sure if she'd be able to detect it with the institute's limiter on her.

Carefully, she brought the spirit threads of the area into focus, hoping to pick up where the bearer of that unnatural noise was.

[Noted]

It seemed that transforming in stealth mode had done the job. The human was clearly on edge now. Perfect.

Lockdown also noted the sword across her back. It looked like the same type that the female from earlier had used when she had tried to stab his windshield. No matter. A puny human weapon was no match for him.

Just as he had done with the last human he'd encountered, Lockdown reached down and grabbed the young woman, lifting her off the ground. He didn't reveal himself just yet, preffering to see her reaction first.

There were no giant birds out tonight that he saw. No fog, either. What he did see was a mechanized creature of sorts fighting a couple others. It was hard to distinguish who they were in the dark.

He wanted to stop and help them, but with his injuries he might be more of a hindrance than anything. If he could use his wings... but no. From what his roommate said about the birds targeting virgins, he could only assume that an angelic presence was what had drawn them out that night.

His best option was to leave the area - head for the other door as he'd originally intended.

[and I really hope you don't mind if he just hurries over a few feet out the other hall door to here while Lockdown is occupied...]

Valyn thought he was prepared for anything.

He wasn't prepared for a giant sentient construct of metal to bar their way.

"I...can't fight something made of metal," he admitted, wetting his lips in a clear display of fear. Monsters and creatures were one thing. He could use magic and his knife on them. Metal...his knife wouldn't harm it, and he couldn't use magic on it. Not unless he wanted to set himself on fire or worse.

He wasn't even sure it was safe to use magic in the proximity of the thing!

Valyn was nearly frozen with fear, something he'd be loathe to admit come morning. When Keman grabbed him he could only nod, snapping out of it enough to comprehend what the dragon was suggesting.

He didn't know if they could make it, but it was there only choice. He ran after Keman, lips in a thin line and legs beginning to tremble from fear and the cold.

Hitsugaya's eyes scanned the field for his friend, but he couldn't find her. Had he made a mistake? No, that couldn't be. He was certain that he felt Hinamori's reiatsu. While he had considered searching for her spirit thread, Hitsugaya's weakened, spiritual sense picked up a faint trail of reiatsu to the north. Because it was rapidly disappearing, like tracks in the desert sand, Hitsugaya suspected that Hinamori had used Kido. Since he couldn't see Hinamori, did that mean she was beyond the wall? Hitsugaya stealthily made his way over to check, the cool grass quietly squelching beneath his feet. If Hinamori had somehow scaled the wall then so could he.

Lockdown sped towards the white-haired human, his exhaust pipes producing smoke and his red high-beams washing the field and human in a wash of red light.

Hopefully this one wouldn't be fast enough to dodge him or otherwise get any ideas about trying to fight him. He also really hoped that this human had no powers, like the last one.

As he was bathed in a crimson light, Hitsugaya understood he had been caught. In the middle of the field, he was already too far from the main building to run back inside, and he couldn't leave Hinamori out here alone, possibly injured.

Abandoning his stealth, he ran towards the wall as fast as he could, adrenalin pumping in his veins.

Too slow. This damn gigai just won't move as I want it to.

Glancing over his shoulder, Hitsugaya saw the vehicle rapidly closing in on him, tires scarring the grassy field with burning tracks. There was no way he could make it over the wall in time unless he used shunpo, but Matsumoto had warned him about how limited their powers were. The young captain couldn't be sure if he'd be able to make it over the wall at this distance. Changing directions, he rushed towards the shed instead, since it was closer.

Lockdown slammed on his brakes and turned his steering wheel hard when the human changed direction, quickly turning himself in the direction the inmate was going and continued to persue him.

The muscle car then decided to change tactics and, without stopping, he transformed into robot mode and began running after the human, using the gained momentum to give himself a little "boost start". Since he was so much bigger and taller than the inmate, Lockdown had no trouble keeping up with him.

"Give it up, human, you can't escape," The bounty hunter shouted down at the human.
