[from

He headed for the door to the cell block exit, keeping alert for any monsters that might be lying in wait. They usually seemed to take a few minutes at least to start attacking attacking, but that was

"You didn't have the flashlight on. Can you see in the dark too?"

So he wasn't the only one. Scourge would have to keep that in mind--the darkness couldn't hid him from everyone.

There were two people in this hall. S.T. breathed a sigh of relief as he edged past them, his flashlight still dark.

The men's hall was fairly empty; this early in the evening meant that many hadn't made it out, concerning themselves with nightly plans, or their increasingly cold meal. Celes flipped her torch as she waited, catching it end over end. The poor thing was beginning to fade finally, as Celes had mostly depended upon other sources of light to travel.
She would wait one half-hour for the men to appear. If Dias failed to bring his men, she would go to the next block and the next after that before returning to meet Hughes.

Well, Dias had apparently lucked out - either that, or he and Celes thought alike. Either way, they'd both picked the same hallway. "It's me," he called to her as he approached; it was dark, and she was a warrior, and under such circumstances approaching unannounced wasn't a good idea.

His shoulder guards were perhaps even more impressive than her own on her armor back at home (at least she hoped it was still unsold. If Locke had gotten itchy for funds...) "You look... nice." Well, at least between the two of them, they weren't particularly overdressed. In fact, Celes even felt somewhat confident in her abilities this evening. The small, dark, red stone on her necklace caught the dimming light from her torch as she crossed her arms.

"The others may be at the other hallway," he remarked. "I suggest we wait for them here for a few minutes, to see if they come to join us; if not, we can go to them."

The hallways had the normal ebb and flow of traffic now. Time had hung suspended at apogee for a long moment, while he had slipped down the halls between flashes of a strobe light. Now it was more disco at the roller rink, with flashlight flickers chasing each other down the halls.
The pill bottles were still rattling. He stopped to perform a minor adjustment. The sheaf of paper he'd tucked in his back pocket fluttered out as he squatted. Good going, S.T. You had all day to write these up, and now you're scribbling directions in the dark. Some day, he'd stop procrastinating the necessary paperwork. Some other day. Maybe eventually they'd be able to do it all via computer and save trips up and down the stairs with the recycling ( ... )

"Hey, Sangamon. Got any drugs? Pens? Guns and swords? While you dig those out of the scrotal sacks you call your pockets, I have an interview to conduct! Wait here!"
And then Spider was gone again and the hallway's ambient crazy levels dropped back to normal.

Spider came skidding back into the corridor, riding through the halls on a cloud of fury and profanity.
"FUCK THE MOTHERFUCKING NOT-FUCKING-BEING-HERE-WHEN-I-TAKE-THE-DOGFUCKING-EFFORT-TO-FIND-OUT-WHERE-HE-FUCKING-SLEEPS SHEEPRAPING GOATBOATING HITLERSUCKING NOSEJIZZING INCEST FESTIVAL!"
He stopped and caught his breath, not bothering to wipe the residual rage-saliva from himself and Sangamon.
"Did you find those drugs I asked you about earlier?"

It only occurred to Adachi after he ran into another hall that he had no idea where the fuck he was going. There were a couple of lights bobbing around in the darkness, headed for what he guessed was the way out. If he remembered right, at least, everyone who was brought in to this area was a guy. So if he went out the way he came in, he could find his way around from there, right?
...Where the hell had they gotten the flashlights from, though?
