Day 41: Women's Showers

May 15, 2009 13:54

Utena was very, very glad that the patients were finally being allowed to go to the showers. Even for a girl more used to sweating than many in her gender, two days without a shower was definitely enough to make her feel stickier and stinkier than she preferred to be. Especially after all the running around and tearing apart of rooms she, Celes and ( Read more... )

Getting the chance to shower was nice, but Ururu washed very quickly. She didn't want to spend too long inside, because she needed to talk to someone from Lost and Found. She wanted to make sure everyone was okay, and to let them know that she was okay too. Plus, she had to tell them that she wasn't going to be with them this night shift, and maybe the next. Ururu felt bad about it, but making sure Ken was going to be okay was important to her too. And joining the boxing club sounded kind of fun. Maybe some of her other friends would want to come too. Kurogane especially seemed like he wanted to hit things, so maybe this would be a better way for him to do that.

Making sure to get as clean as she could as quickly as she could, Ururu hurried out of the showers once she was done and dressed again, not even waiting for her hair to dry.

Though she had often made use of public bath houses in the past, Chidori was nonetheless horrified by the setup here. At least in a bath house one could wear a towel, have some kind of cover, and submerge in the water so that no one could really see anything. Here she was on display, and everyone could see her sickly body and judge and question and feel sorry for her.

Wanting none of that, Chidori instead washed her hair as quickly as she could without doing it damage, then scrubbed off and fled. It seemed as long as one got clean, the staff didn't care about how long it took. Good.

Finally, a shower! Juri ignored the public aspect of the shower, except to vaguely note Utena was there and move to the opposite end of the area, and got right to business. She knew she nothing to hide about her body, and she was far too interested in the soap and shampoo to worry that there might be danger here. And at least until she had her hair washed, she wasn't talking right away either.

This felt deliciously good after two days of being dirty.

Ugh, great. Shower time with the brats. Evangeline didn't exactly object to a chance to get clean, but she hated being split up by age. At least at Mahora there were an okay number of people who knew she wasn't really a kid. Sometimes that made it worse... but right now she really wished there was someone here who knew who and what she was. A little respect would be nice, and this shift seemed to have been designed purely to remind her that here she wasn't going to get a shred.

She edged over towards one of the older and less perturbed-looking bathers. Sure, she'd probably end up looking even younger by contrast, but she really didn't want to be around anyone who found the setup embarrassing, lest their reaction prove contagious.

When someone moved in next to her, Juri didn't desist until her hair was rinsed squeaky clean. The rest could be done more leisurely. She turned slightly toward the younger-looking girl beside her. "This is this dumbest place to meet, but hi." She wasn't the least embarrassed. "I'm Juri." She reached for the soap and started scrubbing her feet, lifting one foot at a time.

There was a sentiment Evangeline could bring herself to agree with. If she'd been in a really argumentative mood she could have thought up a few dumber places, or pointed out that the value of the meeting entirely depended on the meeting itself and not the location, or just gone with the usual and implied that it was even dumber because it involved Juri, but right now saving her abuse for the washroom in particular and Landel's in general was priority one.

"You can say that again," she said, halfway between plain old grumbling and wry commentary. "Evangeline."

Wasn't she just sociable today? Time for washing.

The first shift ended unexpectedly soon, and Naoto was quite irritated about it. They hadn't finished talking! Kanji was here and she needed to finish explaining what was going on, and relay all the imperative information he needed to know, and--

But her nurse would have none of that. It would have been easy enough to accompany each other into whatever room they were being pushed to next, but this time, it was different. Mostly because, as the nurse decided to inform her, it was time to clean up in the showers. And not just any kind of showers, no; it was the open kind where everyone was in it at the same time with absolutely zero covering whatsoever, which meant anyone in it could see you, and...

It was impressive and record breaking just how quickly Naoto's face paled when she learned of this, making tiny steps backwards away from the showers and towards the exit. Ohhhh no, she wasn't doing this, she couldn't do this, it was utterly embarrassing amongst every other similar adjective she could think of. "I- I'll have to do this ( ... )

Anise was fuming when she left the cafeteria. It was unbelievable that anyone could be so weird, so rude, and so stupid! What was the guy's name? Kitamoto? Minamoto? Some foreign name that she couldn't be bothered to remember. Maybe he'd just get eaten on his first night, and she wouldn't have to think about him again.

After talking with a guy who had as many crumbs flying from his mouth as he did words, Anise felt more than ready for a shower. She felt dirty just thinking about it.

Once she was in the shower, Anise was less than graceful as she lathered shampoo in her hair vigorously. Despite making the process more forceful than was necessary, the girl's frustration soon subsided, and by the time she finished washing her hair, she had calmed down significantly. Right, there was no use getting worked up over something so stupid.

The girl finished washing up quickly, though she realized she was actually starting to get used to this whole public showering thing. Or maybe she was just becoming more confident? A subconscious result of ( ... )
