Allelujah continued along the corridor, retracing the path that the nurses had brought him along earlier that day to speak with the doctor. He'd just raid them tonight, unless he came across a convenient source of fire which he could use to burn the place with. Douse it in alcohol maybe, to make it burn better. And maybe, just maybe, there would still be damage in the morning.
The morning... they'd have to be in the same room again, she and him. He hoped that she was unhurt and he hoped that she would vanish or die like the others and the conflicting emotions, bleeding through him from Hallelujah left him more confused than before.
The hall they reached was pretty empty as far as he could tell. But at least that meant the door they might find wasn't far either. He watched the hall with a careful eye as he waited for Ran to follow.
It seem empty enough, but she wasn't about to trust to that. This was as far as she knew the last door worth trying on this floor. All of the others seemed to be possible to open using brute force. If the key turned out to be useless then she would probably have to hurt something. Finally they reached the door and Rangiku pulled out the key, sliding it into the lock. It fit in there at least and with bated breath she turned it.
Nothing.
With a hoarse noise of frustration, she pulled the key back out and stuffed it back into her pocket, resisting the urge to throw it across the hallway in frustration.
"It's alright darlin'. Still plenty of rooms left to check," Gin could see as well as hear her frustration, but there was no point in getting upset so early. There were still plenty of places to check. Each failure needn't be thought of as such, just as one step closer to the end goal. Even if the end meant the key went to nothing at all, it was still an interesting game, all things considered.
Rangiku sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly as her anger dissipated. "You're right," she said, running a hand through her hair and closing her eyes for a moment. It was pointless getting angry and frustrated over this, it wouldn't change anything at all. It would just make her less effective if it came to a battle. "Sorry." She smiled weakly at Gin and then headed off towards the stairs.
Kurt scanned the hallway again, pulling the sheet over his shoulders a little. It was dragging on the ground, to cover his legs, and he thought for a moment that maybe it would be easier to move if he just... ditched it.
Not without warning, though. And Tony was right behind him. Sloughing off the sheet without some sort of speech would have been a little... shocking, he thought.
