Lockdown checked the map again with his flashlight. He was almost where he needed to go. Hopefully Starscream was still holding out. Lockdown knew that he could always find another employer if something happened to Starscream, but that did not mean he would not try to hold onto the one he had now.

He went over Starscream's instructions ( Read more... )

Lockdown picked up his pace, in a hurry to get back to Starscream so he could treat the former jet's wound and continue their mission. He'd be damned if he was going to come all this way just to quit. He needed Starscream to traverse this place.

Endrance swept his flashlight across the dark hallway. There was some noise coming from one hallway over. He hoped he wouldn't run into what was causing the commotion. He didn't particularly want to run into a monster, not while he was still unarmed. With any luck, his luck would hold out, and he'd be able to get himself armed before he ran into any of the creatures running around this place.

There were things going on in the hall to the west- disturbances that were definitely outside the realm of "patients" merely interacting with other "patients." B thought that, given the route that had lead the two of them to where they were currently, his target was likely to continue that direction, but even so....

B finally decided to approach Blue Hair, emerging from the darkness and sidling into the space on the man's left in near silence, close enough that there would be little chance of failure to notice, but just far enough away that the risk of collarbone-abuse and other assaults were kept to an acceptable minimum. He had learned his lesson from the night before. Or maybe not. After all, he was doing practically the exact same thing, and he still started off with a question, voice low-

"Are you actually wandering around this place alone?"

Endrance started, almost jumping at the unexpected sound of the voice behind him. He whirled around, a few rose petals swirling around him, and found himself staring at a dark-haired, freckled young man with dark circles under his eyes and messy hair. "Have you been following me, then?", he asked, glaring at him as he spoke. "I'd...thought myself paranoid. I see I was incorrect..."

He sighed, folding one arm over his chest in an overly exaggerated show of exasperation. "If you must know...I don't work well in large groups...particularly with people I don't know. So yes, I am exploring this place by myself for the time being."

B's eyes followed the descent of a flower petal with his eyes, then another, before studying the man's body with intensity, attempting to determine where they were coming from as he was being talked at. As a side note kind of thought, he imagined that their conversation was being put to paper, and decided that this man's speech would waste a lot of ink in ellipses alone. How horrible.

"Of course I was." It was a vague relief to receive confirmation that his unwanted presence through the previous stretch of time and halls hadn't gone completely unnoticed. He may have considered considering reconsideration of his choice of person to stalk follow if there had been no signs of, as Blue Hair (or rather, now that he was directly in front of him, "Payton Reynolds") had put it, paranoia. His next statement came seamlessly after the first- "I was concerned for your safety." It was a lie, of course. B didn't try at all for eye contact at the moment, and shifted a hand in order to test one of his fingernails on his teeth. After a thoughtful ( ... )

Lying around doing nothing was not in Leon's nature--he'd never had leisure time before, and wasn't about to start trying that now, when there were things to be done. He'd get bored, frankly, if he just stayed in his room every night--sure, he could sleep, but with the days being as frustratingly aimless as they were he couldn't bear letting the nights go the same way. So even though he had no particular interest in escaping this place--what did he have to go back to, after all--Leon went out every night that he could.

Leon followed Ren's gaze--the name came back to him, after a long delay--and frowned slightly as he caught sight of those same too-low flashlight beams. Right, this was why he hadn't liked Ren in the first place--he was a meddler. "... Don't even think about it."

Funny, why did he keep being told that? It was the same sentiment Melissa had displayed, with almost the exact same words. If they can’t handle themselves, it’s their problem. He’d spent decades bathed in blood, then decades more watching passively as humanity killed itself, raped its world, gave birth to youkai, and made the existence of Ojou necessary. He’d drawn out the most twisted secrets and watched souls curse themselves to damnation, again and again. And again. And now, in this strange place, he kept being warned not to extend a helping hand by children. Definitely funny ( ... )

Leon wasn't heartless, he really wasn't. If Ren managed to get himself in deadly danger tonight, Leon would help him without hesitation--but Leon was a soldier and knew that it just wasn't feasible to help everyone and still accomplish what needed to be done. The task had to come first, and haring off after every single person in danger, especially in this place, would result in never accomplishing anything. So he kept his priorities in order, risking himself only for those for whom he was responsible at the time--his travelling companions.

"Hn. I'm holding you to that promise." Though, really, Leon had serious doubts about Ren's ability to keep a promise like that. No point standing around arguing about it, though. "We should keep moving, before whatever it is down there decides to take a look over here."

Spider mounted the last step and trudged into the hallway, carefully studying the people around him without really acknowledging them. Journalistic instinct. He continued to speak as he crossed the hall.

"When people say they feel like a kid again, some diseased little bird tells me they think that's a good thing. The only good things about my childhood were the STD immunities I built up and the fact that eventually the scabs fell off and it ended. And now, it's like I'm a kid again. New place, no money, and then you die. Fuck this."

And now, another hallway. He could really use a cigarette.

Spider came screeching and squeaking into the main hallway, cackling as he went. He needed to pick up as much speed as possible, because some kind of shit was going down in the hallway up ahead. Nothing that his DOLLY OF DESTINY could not handle! Where were his hands? No, those were his teeth. AND AWAY INTO THE DARKNESS!
