here It didn't take long to see that the room numbers didn't go low enough over here. Well, hell. Of course he'd have to run halfway across the damn building.
It did make sense that the inmates wouldn't all be kept in the same place, but talk about irritating!

The walk felt shorter than it had the past few times, likely a result of his studies of the maps yesterday and this morning. This hall was thankfully empty as well--or, at least, much emptier than it was his first night. As he walked Bruce felt the beginnings of a sort of familiarity with these halls; it was an ambivalent feeling. On one hand, it was good thing he'd largely adjusted to these surroundings; on the other hand, the thought of getting used to living in the Institute, of developing any sort of numbness to its horrible reality...the thought made Bruce sick. It was irrational of him to think that something so small and insignificant could feel so much like a sort of defeat.
The darkness must be affecting him more than he'd thought.

This was one of those hallways that Scar traversed every night, so even with his night-vision not as good as it should be, he could easily find his way with his flashlight switched off.
Lust certainly had a point with certain things becoming a routine. Even certain aspects of this institute were becoming normal, though Scar was sure of the fact he wasn't going to get fully used to this body. It would be worrisome if he did...

It was a simple walk, just down the dark hall and across through another dark and empty hall, and then out into the larger hallway. He'd been in ships far more complicated.
It didn't make the halls any less inhospitable and dreary.

The hallway was nearly empty tonight, as it usually was, which was fine by Phoenix. For all the talk of new patients, he didn't see anyone standing around and looking lost, either, which was a second relief. He knew he'd feel some kind of obligation to stop and at least point any new arrivals in the direction of someone who knew what was going on and would make sure that the newcomers made it through their first night in one piece. If doing that made him late a second night in a row, he'd never hear the end of it.
As if Edgeworth and his primers have any room to talk.
He stuck his head out the door to the next hall and made a few quick sweeps before deciding that it was also empty. Satisfied, he stepped through the door and made his way toward the northern door.
