Night 37: Ballroom (basement)

Dec 19, 2008 20:10

[from here]The ballroom was just as Beatrix remembered it, all marble with its fountains and the silver wall sconces with lit candles. As the Bride descended the stairs, leading the two assassins the bitch, she kept her sword at the ready in case there were enemies lurking amid the very large room and it's flickering light ( Read more... )

Though Ophelia technically took orders from the Organization, she was used to being the leader when assigned to group work, and thus was used to quickly acting in the group's best interest without direct orders. At least, when it was necessary to do so, anyway ( ... )

HK followed the meatbags into the large hall, eyes immediately clamoring at him like he usually did to everyone else. Ow. Going from low-light and infrared vision to lots of illumination from open flame hurt. It was like that time there'd been a botched attempt at repairs on his memory cores and he'd ended up spasmodically poking himself in his eye sockets.

And mention of former abilities enhanced beyond the meatbag norm just made him a little more irritable at the moment. "Commentary: Yes, quite a lot of beings have been deprived of their normal strengths, abilities, built-in weapons systems and technologically advanced chassis. Suggestion: Rather than make all of that more apparent by standing here whining about it, we pick a door at random?" The entire Dayshift was time that could be spent standing around whining about things. HK only did that on occasion. When there was a truly excellent reason to do so.

"If I had my full powers, the entire staff would have been dead within minutes of my arrival," SubZero commented. Even then, only because he would have to actually run through the hospital to get to them all.

Brute force wasn't the greatest thing in a fight, SubZero had learned that. "Lets go that way," SubZero suggest, pointing to his preferred door to avoid any further delay. He thought it was east, but he couldn't be entirely sure.

"Enough," Beatrix said in a cold voice in response to both Ophelia and SubZero's statements about their lack of abilities. HK-47 was correct; it was pointless to lament about the things that have been taken away from them.

"I agree," she said next, moving to the eastern door. She then shot a glance back at Ophelia. "Bitch, get up here and grab a hold unless you'd rather be the torch bearer."
