There was that line again... that story that the disappearing patients were cured. No way. Maybe--maybe--they could be brainwashed for long enough to get them out of the way, keeping them asleep or something until the Institute could march them out as 'proof' and scare the patients. Usopp wasn't sure of even that much, but maybe it meant Nami was somewhere in the Institute. It wouldn't explain how Sanji and Zoro had disappeared and come back with more memories, though ( ... )

Sousuke was definitely in better spirits than the previous night. Perhaps he was starting to finally feel some sort of rapport with his fellow prisoners and patients, thanks to Allelujah. It was a little scary how they understood one another so implicitly.

But now, he had an apology to make to Usopp.

"Good evening, Captain," Sousuke said, saluting as he came into the room. His nurse, a little exasperated, set his meal down and left. Sousuke remained standing in front of Usopp.

"I apologize for the state I was in last night," he said, hands clasped behind his back. "It was unprofessional."

Having Sousuke not collapse or ask about the sweet mysteries of life was at least a nice improvement over the previous night. Their little act was getting so familiar that Usopp was starting to feel as though he'd never get caught, which paradoxically made him certain that any time now he would be for sure. And then die.

At least looming death wasn't anything new. Usopp nodded seriously in response, but didn't stand up in response. "This place has a way of draining the spirit of anyone, and in a confusing situation... I'm glad you've come back to yourself, Sergeant."

He wondered if--but Sousuke always seemed to have plans for the evening. Usopp thought he might be able to talk Sousuke into joining him some night, if it weren't for the fact that it'd be even worse than his act already was and it would probably not take long in the actual field of battle for the real Captains and the Captains Usopp to become clear from one another.

"Yes, sir," Sousuke said, saluting again. He moved to his desk and began cutting apart his chicken. Two weeks and still no sign of tampering, but he couldn't let his guard down.

"How has the production of weapons been going along?" Sousuke asked. "I have an excess of weaponry, if you require something."

The day had been entertaining enough, even if he'd spent much of it napping. As usual, he started on the ice cream first, and in Xelloss's opinion it was perfectly sensible. Not as good as Saillune's, but still good, and it'd be a pity for it to melt while the chicken was being dealt with.

Xelloss wondered if he'd start to gain weight from bad eating habits if he stayed here long enough. Lina and her friends never seemed to, but they burned up a lot of energy with magic (along with generally being frantic forces of destruction whether well-intentioned or not) and aside from nighttime, Xelloss's lifestyle had been a bit sedentary lately. Maybe he should start volunteering for fighting groups more, pretend he used to be a masked hero named The X and wander around with a makeshift costume.

His roommate might not see the humor in that.

The conversation Marcus had with Stefan put him in slightly less of a good mood than usual, but at least it was time for dinner, and it wouldn't be long until night.

"Hello, Xellos," Marcus said as he sat down to his dinner. First he would need to check on Logan, then head out to meet another recently arrived hero. Stefan's comment was just a little bit concerning, even if he had been joking.

"Hello! Did you have a nice day?" Xelloss didn't particularly wish so, but didn't care too much if he had. Marcus did seem a bit subdued, though honestly, Xelloss found him to be disappointingly difficult to rile up in general. Still, they didn't spend much time together, so they should make the most of that, shouldn't they?

"Do you want your ice cream?" Xelloss asked, finishing off the last bites of his own.

"I wouldn't call it nice, but I've had worse," Marcus replied. Today had been a bit more worrying than usual, but nothing too horrible had happened. It was probably just the calm before the storm, though, he expected his night to get much worse when he got Logan's report.

"Yes, I do want my ice cream," Marcus stopped eating his chicken to take a bite of the ice cream. Not the best ice cream he'd had, but it was still good.

Sakura had to admit, she did feel a little bit better after talking with Himura. He was pretty nice for an old guy, though admittedly, he didn't look all that old. Maybe it was just the way he talked. Or maybe he was using a jutsu like Tsunade-sama to keep himself looking young. It didn't seem to fit, if Himura was worried about looks, he probably would do something about that big scar on his cheek, but she supposed it was a possibility.

At any rate, she just had to hurry over to the entrance to the Sun Room once night came. Himura was right, she'd just have to show Sasuke that she really could be useful. And if he kept doing stupid things, maybe she really would give him a few hard knocks.

That shower had been nice~ Then again, in Hanyuu's opinion, this whole day had been nice. She'd slept through most of it, but that was beside the point! The game wasn't yet over, and she was sure they would be the ones to win this time.

Between that thought, Rika's return, and the fact that she'd be getting another flashlight tonight, Hanyuu was in a very good mood. And considering how mopey she'd been during previous days, that was saying something.

The spirit smiled at her roommate, although it disappeared again almost immediately. This girl wasn't Shana... Hanyuu hadn't seen the redhead at all today, but she had thought that was because Shana had left the room before she woke up. Given the Head Doctor's words though, did that mean Shana had disappeared like Rena..?

"Um... A-Are you my roommate now..?"

After losing two meals today to Uchihas, one dumped on Itachi's head, and one unfinished because really how could she eat with all that stuff going on with Sasuke there anyway? Sakura was pretty hungry. She was just making her way over to the nearest tray of food when another girl was ushered in.

She looked shy in the painful sort of way and Sakura tried not to look too scary. She wasn't that scary, was she?

"Hi," she tried first, "I'm not sure what you mean. The nurses took me here after the last shift. I didn't even know we had roommates."

If the nurses had brought her here, then maybe that did mean Shana was gone... That was a sad thought, but Rika had returned after disappearing. And Hanyuu had already decided that there was no proof that someone died when they disappeared. Hopefully that meant Shana was okay, wherever she was.

If this girl was her new roommate, which looked likely, then that meant Hanyuu should probably try to get to know her. The spirit was slowly getting better at talking to other people, but it was still startling to walk into a room and find someone you didn't know.

"We do have roommates," Hanyuu said with a quick nod, "But I didn't... know I was getting a new one. N-not that I mind! Because I really don't, I just... u-um... Auauu..." She really did need to work on her conversation skills. "I-I'm Hanyuu.."

On the plus side, Vlad hadn't noticed Danny posting any requests for help in committing suicide this evening, which left Vlad's on evening free. Free for him to decide what to do, and free of listening to the boy complain about everything imaginable while they tried to make progress. Granted, they never did seem to get very far ( ... )

Vlad couldn't help noticing the change in his roommate's demeanor from the moment Qui-Gon entered, and hesitated before turning, watching Qui-Gon in return with a curious expression. The meal could go cold, and it wouldn't be any dear loss, but he didn't seem to speak very often with his roommate and he did have to admit he was a bit curious about the man, who always seemed busy but was quiet about his activities.

Quiet until now, at least. His attention fully on Qui-Gon, Vlad crossed his own legs, leaning an elbow against his desk table. Such a stoic expression... "Certainly. What do you need to speak about?"

The day had passed quickly and in confusion. The game itself wasn't totally unfamiliar, but the more he read, the more he realized he didn't understand, and that was disturbing. At least tonight he'd have plans, but an entire day passing was also disturbing. He'd woken up in the morning, it had seemed, so he didn't exactly know what the passage of time here was like in relation to his proper place and time, but it was still too much time wasted.

Without weapons or his body in working order, the threat of 'monsters' was more serious than it should have been. Since his human body seemed to be the most functional part of him, keeping it in order by eating was still important. As he sat down to eat, this time asking for water instead of letting the nurse pick out milk for him again, he looked around at the room more clearly, remembering what he'd been told about the flashlight. There were two beds here; someone else would be quartered with him.

Ice cream. The food here was decent, but it was the deserts that were really worth mention. Rare, but really damn good.

Junior was expecting a new roommate when he got back to his room, but it was kinda surprising to see that it was the kid he'd been talking to at lunch. Lucky, really. Now he could get a name and finish some explanations, if the kid wanted to hear it. It was always best to go into night as prepared as possible.

"Oh, hey there," he said, giving the kid a wave. The redhead headed over to his desk and starting in on his meal, dessert first. Man, how long had it been since he'd had ice cream and chocolate syrup? "Looks like you're my roommate. How was your day?"

It was a surprise to see the same person he'd spoken with before, who'd given him information about this 'Institute' and its workings earlier at lunch. Was this a coincidence or deliberate? It didn't matter, he decided, it was convenient anyway to have someone he was already familiar with.

"My day was too long and confusing," he answered honestly, not pausing to offer friendly hellos. "I tried to communicate with the Cooking Club. Otherwise, I've done nothing but sleep and eat, and try to understand what can be done to go home." It wasn't acceptable, but what else could he do? He'd head in whatever direction was needed, if he just knew where to focus his energy. "Tonight the doors will unlock and we will fight various types of monsters, even though I've been changed." He'd stated it, but it was a question of sorts. At least that wouldn't be unfamiliar, but he wasn't used to being weakened like this.

Right to the point, just like before. Oh well, he could probably get used to that. "At least you've gotten a start, though?" he offered. "I know you need to get home as soon as possible, but the day takes some getting used to. And I'm guessing you got an assignment from them, right? That should help."

Junior took a big bite of ice cream, and paused for a moment as it went right to his head. "Anyway, yeah." He nodded. "The intercom goes off again, after a little while, and the doctor sounds different. The doors'll unlock after that, and we're free to head out and do our thing."

He paused, then snapped his fingers. "Oh! I forgot to mention this earlier, but sometimes they come to take people away for the night. For like, experiments and stuff."
