Nightshift 36: Patients' Library

[from here]

When he entered the dark library, Yue was grudgingly glad that Ken had made him bring the flashlight along - he'd never been in this room before even in the daytime, and darkness made the unfamiliar layout all that much more dangerous. Anything could be lurking in the deep shadows between the shelves, including a sentinel that might normally dwell in the Sun Room at night.

The guardian paused close to the door for a moment, concentrating in an attempt to sense the familiar magic that would signify the Book's presence, but there was nothing. That didn't necessarily mean anything; he'd been tricked before (and if his roommate was to be believed, last night was one of those times) and hardly dared to trust his abilities any longer.

Either the Book was here or it wasn't, and the only way he could be certain was to actually look for it. Yue shook his head once, forcing himself to focus and ignore Yukito's inquisitive concern, and moved toward the closest shelf without speaking a word to the one following.

yue, subaru
