Nightshift 36: Waiting Room/Lobby 1

The room he found himself in was as dark as the hallway before had been and his primitive light source offered little by way of illumination. He could make out a range of chairs and small tables arranged around the walls as well as several racks containing numerous magazines, all dating from Earth in the 21st century.

"I'm either in the past or someone has gone to a lot of trouble," Brainiac 5 wondered aloud. "The former seems more likely, but why would someone bring me here? Not to mention how." Time travel, while not impossible, was uncommon; as far as he knew the Legion were one of the few groups to have ever achieved such a thing and they had only done so thanks to his own discoveries which had led him to create the Time Sphere technology. Another person having the same technology and being capable of abducting him from the midst of his... difficulty with his ancestor (his stomach twisted again and he tried not to think about that any further) was incredibly unlikely. For starters they'd have to be a 12th level intellect like himself, which was unlikely to the point of being almost impossible.

"It's time I got to the bottom of this," he said, eyes narrowing as he took note of another door, the only one other than that he'd used to enter. There was little point in remaining in this room, so he boldly continued, pushing open the door and shining his light in the room beyond.
