[from here]Even though Archer didn't really feel energetic tonight, he might as well make this quick. There was no sense in wasting the nightshift's time ( Read more... )

[from here]"What the fuck," S.T. whispered, and shut off his flashlight before stepping out into the rec field. He kept his eyes on the wall and away from the fight. Like avoiding panhandlers. If you didn't look at them, you could keep your guilt for being able to afford an apartment and food and booze to yourself. He jogged along the side of the building, taking deep gulps of fresh air ( ... )

[From hereDean didn't like it, but he had to turn his back on whatever it was back there and go the other way. A part of him was convinced it was someone, not something in trouble back there, but the other part, the part of him raised to do whatever it took, the part that kept thinking about Sam despite his attempts not to, pushed him to put the sounds of flapping behind him and head for the door at the other end of the hall. His job was to hunt evil, but his first job, the one he'd throw everything away for, was to take care of Sammy. If he was around here, Dean intended to find him, hunt or no hunt ( ... )

[ Leaving the shed with a bat]

By the time he came out with his new weapon, Dean saw he was the only one on the field. The two shadows of what he assumed were people were gone and it was quiet again, that kind silence that seemed too heavy. Gone, too, was that furry dark shape the people had been standing over: either he'd been seeing things, it got up again, or they took it with him. Glancing back, he saw walls surrounding the field - he could try to scale them but after hearing about Sam's story about being stuck in that ghost town, he wasn't so sure that was a bright idea. Getting past the walls didn't mean he could escape.

Instead, Dean turned and trudged back across the soccer field. There were two doors and, reversing his mental map, he headed for the one he didn't come through earlier. As he came closer, he saw someone was leaning on the door's frame.

Nothing looked... immediately deadly, as Usopp stepped outside. He exhaled breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, and slowly walked towards the now-familiar wall. He'd climbed over it the very first night he'd been here, and been back and forth over it so many times since that it was almost nostalgic.

How long had he been here? Luffy had been here two weeks when Usopp arrived... and Usopp was sure he'd been here at least two weeks, or about that... People being taken away must not have anything to do with how long they were in the Institute, considering how long Roy seemed to have been around and how briefly Nami had been with them. But he wasn't working on mechanics of how the place worked. That was what people like Nate were doing.

He was working on making things to make other things go boom. That was what he could do best. He looked around again before scaling the wall, hoping to see Brook coming out of one of the doorways.

Brook was still humming lightly, though shakily as he exited the building and, for some reason, made sure to close the door behind him. He didn't want anything too nasty trying to follow, but it was also proper manners not to leave doors open as well!

Being out of the hallway did do to calm his nerves, and it didn't look like there was too much danger about. That was always good. Of course, the shed had yet to be entered, and Brook wondered if he could just stay near the shed in hopes of meeting his friend. Yes, that would do. His humming turned stronger as he started for the small building.

Seeing Brook actually appear on the scene was a big relief, although the unmistakable figure promptly started walking away from Usopp and the wall, across the field and towards the sports' equipment shed. Had Brook forgotten which shed they were going to, or forgotten they were meeting, or..?

Usopp hurried out onto the field, jogging but trying not to run too fast, as though that might summon monsters out of thin air. "Brook! Brook? Broo~k! Where are you going?" He'd spent so much of the night in his room already, he was a little afraid of missing out on seeing the gardening shed entirely if they got too side-tracked. Not as afraid, though, as he was of continuing to travel alone at night.

Actually, Brook was only aware of there being one shed on the premises, so no, he'd not forgotten which shed he was to be heading for, he just hadn't been told that there was another as the true destination! Really, they would have had a good laugh if they'd been at two different sheds all night, but it was better that Usopp had spotted him. Company was much better than a good laugh any day.

"Eh?" Brook's head turned at the sound of his name and, upon spotting Usopp, he raised a hand to wave. "Yohohoho! Good evening Usopp-san!" he greeted loudly, no thoughts for keeping his voice down lest he draw out monsters for it. "I was looking to meet up with you, of course! You did say you were heading for the shed, did you not?"

What a joke; he wasn't going to be wasting anymore time pussyfooting around with strangers.

Reid was a lazy sprinter, but he was fast enough, and after tucking the flashlight in his jeans, he jumped up to meet the lip of the courtyard wall near where it met with the outer one, hardly needing a boost up from the ivy. The throb of magic was good enough. So what if he was beginning to reach for it more regularly than normal. Wasn't that normal? All day, it was locked down inside him, and even at night, it was like being a preteen all over again...

He wanted his normalcy back, as much as a Son could be normal. Nothing wrong with that. His Power was a part of him. Despite whatever Caleb said, holding back in this place was drop dead stupid--they needed it. Or he needed it ( ... )
