Nightshift 36: F21-F30 Hallway

Oct 28, 2008 10:38

Falis was ready to go as soon as the doors unlocked. Spear tied across her back with a torn sheet for easy removal, three stakes hanging from the braided bandoleer about her waist and sword in hand, the bounty hunter's armory was back to where it had been before she'd fought the demons. The stakes were spaced out far enough that they wouldn't ( Read more... )

Well. Night had fell again, so Senna guessed she should get moving. She grabbed her flashlight and spear and left her room. There was another girl in the hall, but it looked like she was looking for someone else. Senna didn't know what room Signum was in, so she settled with leaning against the wall opposite from the doors to wait.

She really hoped that she didn't make a fool out of herself tonight.

Signum really needed to have a conversation with her roommate that lasted longer than ten seconds some time, but that was apparently going to have to wait until she'd had a decent day around here. It wasn't as though she hadn't, before, but recently it was just one thing after another... and stressful days left her with no desire to do anything but throw herself into the night's work. Even this mission, which with Fwiffo's inclusion in her team felt like some kind of set-up, was a welcome respite from the question of what she should have done, and should now do, with Momo.

The knight took a bit longer than Senna to leave her room, most likely on account of the amount of equipment she had accrued during her time here, and was pleased to find her new subordinate waiting for her outside. That much, at least, had gone according to plan...

"Senna?" The knight asked, all business. "I'm Signum."

A girl approached her and introduced herself. Cool. Signum wasn't some old lady.

She pushed herself off the wall with a grin. "Hey." Hopefully Signum wasn't like Hitsugaya--she'd hate to have to play submissive and polite for another night. "Where are we headed to tonight?"

Signum, after that last revealing message from Fwiffo, had only the most minimal expectations for her team and was for her part content just to find Senna where she'd said she'd be. Having her own weapon was a bonus.

"We're to leave the Institute and head south, investigating any sites of interest we find," she answered Senna. If nothing else there would be the town, and in particular its gun store, but she considered them scouts first and looters second and intended to learn as much as she could about the intervening terrain.

"After we find our last member," she added. As things stood she didn't want to take him along, but she'd at least take a look at him first. There was always the possibility he'd been exaggerating...

Hokuto managed to be dressed and ready to go just before lights out; so, it was another experimentation night. At least that meant fewer monsters. And, one plus side to being so weak magically is that I never have to worry about being taken myself. Unless they found a way to enhance power, which... didn't seem all that farfetched, but she had enough to worry about without imagining even more problems.

Like the fact that Momo was now blind in one eye, and there was little chance she'd learned to compensate for it already.

She whispered a prayer for luck, grabbed her shovel, and went out the door.

Rinali made her way quickly to her old hallway. Looks like Allen wasn't here yet, which was a good thing. She waited by her old door and scanned the halls, looking for Allen.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Allen said as he jogged up the last few paces to meet her. Why was she outside the room? He was a little confused, but didn't say anything about it.

"Is everything okay?"

"Hi Allen," Rinali greeted warmly. "Everything's fine! They just moved me today. I'm in F11 now, so I just had to run over here so you wouldn't worry."

That made sense, he supposed. Though it was worrisome that they'd changed rooms. People had gone missing so they had to make up for the change in space, didn't they. But Rukia was really strong! There was no way she'd give in to this place, he was sure of it. So where then had his friends gone?

"Oh- That's alright. I um... I don't know if you saw the bulletin boards, but it doesn't look like we really have an assignment tonight," he told her. This morning was a blur and he honestly couldn't remember if he'd even signed up as usual.

"Any ideas?" he asked hopefully.

She never came.

It wasn't like some (fortunate) nights where she came in and slept, leaving Yukari undisturbed. She simply never walked through the door, truly leaving Yukari on her own.

The lights finally flickered off and the intercom crackled to life, and for the first time since she woke up here, Yukari felt like she was actually ready for the night. Sure, the day did take a toll on her, but she could manage to set those feelings aside; with her 'roommate' disappearing like this, though, it actually left her relieved about everything. It was a wonder how and why this happened-- maybe one of the staff members would know.

All in all, it was good, because Yukari had a good handful of stuff to deliver. Opening the closet door, she sighed; three table legs, two brooms, the obligatory flashlight, and she told Renamon she'd keep her radio on hand... Oh brother. This was going to be a challenge to get this to Adelheid's room on her own, not to mention she knew she was going to look pretty silly trying, but...

Let's see. She could ( ... )

Falis didn't have to lay in wait very long. In fact, she'd only seen a few people pass her unnoticed position, Hokuto among them, before she heard Yukari's door open and the girl walk by. With her arms full of... table legs? Falis actually cocked her head and gawked a little as Yukari passed by. They weren't even sharpened. What was the girl going to do with them, give them to Fido to chew on or something? They wouldn't even make a decent bludgeon - too unwieldy and unbalanced ( ... )

As she moved to Yukari's dresser, a part of her didn't quite want to arm the girl. If she was right about 'Danielle', then there was a high probability that Yukari might turn or become a ghoul. That wouldn't so much be a problem for her, but it could potentially put her client in danger. What the hell was she thinking? If Yukari was going to turn, she'd be dangerous to Amada with her bare hands and fangs. The stakes was there... just in case Yukari wasn't going to turn; she'd need protection ( ... )

Ururu wanted to sleep. Everything felt so heavy when she tried to move, and the room wouldn't stay still. Whatever the nurse had done to her, the tiny girl was struggling to keep her eyes open, and to put one foot in front of the other without feeling like she was about to fall over.

She couldn't sleep. She had to find her friends. She had to do something for Skuld. She had to help.

Ururu didn't have a flashlight still, but even if she had, she wouldn't have been able to use it then. Instead, the girl supported herself on the wall, the nice solid wall that wasn't moving so much as the rest of the hallway was, and that she could lean on as she headed down the hall.

She could make it to Shiki's room. Ururu knew she could.
