Day 36: Courtyard

Oct 17, 2008 20:06

Scar didn't have to think long about which direction to be escorted in for the third shift. He didn't quite enjoy the human activities these nurses forced them to do, so it wasn't much of a surprise that he soon found himself sitting on the grass in the courtyard ( Read more... )

Now, that had sucked Desian ass. As entertaining now as the mental image of Kratos covered in orange juice was, the ensuing argument was not. It was a good thing Raine had shown up or she might have just given Kratos a face-full of cereal or something else in the middle of all that. It wasn't her fault he was the current embodiment of betrayal to her, reminded once again how much it hurt to be betrayed when Soubi did it to her ( ... )

"Just over the board," Sheena replied. "We had a small ninja village pride war. I haven't met her yet."

"We compromised," Sheena replied. She then stepped closer, completely unafraid of any possible punch, and set her jaw. "You know, if you want information, you should try to be more conversational about it. Just cause we're under the sun doesn't mean you get to shine the metaphorical light in my face and try to make me sweat. Cause it ain't gonna happen."

She hmphed and crossed her arms over her chest again. "And why don't you recommend I meet Yuffie? She sounds fun."

If Sheena was intimidated, it didn't show as she narrowed her eyes and thrust her chin up at Rude in defiance.

"You're full of shit, you know that? She may have betrayed you or someone you know, but she sure as hell didn't didn't betray Wutai," Sheena stated. "Ninja that betray their village do not speak it's name much lest boast about how awesome it is. Her Leviathan would have denied her respect if that had happened, as any summon spirit does to those that break their pacts."

She flexed her fingers down at her side. "And of course ninja are 'untrustworthy'. You know... we cultivate that image for a reason, buddy."

It seemed Rude realized he'd gotten caught and, was that a smile? Had that been some kind of test? Geeze, he was a confusing, quiet guy with eyes she couldn't see. She was half-tempted to snatch the sunglasses off his face just to see if he was looking at her breasts.

"Well, yeah, she is," Sheena replied, agreeing with the brat part. She indentified with Yuffie to an extent given they held similar positions in their respective villages, but she could see why people would find her to be a brat.

Since he changed the subject, Sheena stepped back out of Rude's personal space. "Just about everything, as far as the summon spirits in my worlds go," she answered. "I'm the only summoner to be born in the last four thousand years, and have formed pacts will the spirits of all eight elements. Why do you want to know?"

Sheena noticed the tensing of the muscles around Rude's neck and rolled her eyes. "You know... I don't bite. Relax or something. Sit down."

And with that suggestion, the ninja dropped herself down on the ground, shivering once at the cold from the grass. "Yuffie said there were sixteen of them, which I found weird since there aren't sixteen elements." She wiggled her toes in the grass completely relaxed. "And I don't think learning about the summon spirits is going to help figure out why we're all here since somehow this place had cut me off from all my pacts. I can't feel any of them."

Heh. Rude looked a little flustered. Did he think she meant... no. No he didn't. He better not have. Sheena's cheeks turned a little pink and she looked away for a moment before returning her attention once the minor blush was gone.

"Well... they're the embodyment of each of the eight elements," she said with a shrug. "Fire, Ice, Wind, Water, Earth. Lightning, Light and Darkness. They each have their own personalities and knowledges and expectations."

...and he wasn't saying anything. Man, this guy just didn't understand the whole give and take of conversation etiquette. Sheena leaned back so she was propped up by her forearms, closing her eyes as a gust of wind whipped through the courtyard, enjoying the moment of connection with it.

"Undine is the spirit of water, Efreet is the spirit of fire, Volt is the spirit of Lightning, Gnome is the spirit of earth - really annoying by the way, the Sylph are the spirits of the wind, Celsius is the spirit of Ice, Luna is light and Shadow is darkness," she recited off, somewhat distracted by the wind.

Every time the wind swirled around her like that, she hoped she'd hear the whispers of the Sylph. Sadly, their voices were silent.

The ninja opened her eye and looked over again. "Uh... I call them to my aid through my connection to their particular mana. I use an invocation as the focus for the mana - like a spell."

She smiled whistfully. "The really pretty glyph forms on the ground right around me that glows brightly. It's neat!"
