Day 21 - Music Room

Jan 22, 2007 12:13

Lust was rather loathe to leave her lunchtime companion when the intercom chimed on. But there would be plenty of time to continue their conversation later, when night fell. Whatever pangs of guilt she still felt were ignored and crushed down - she had nothing to feel guilty for! These human emotions were beginning to get on her nerves. Again ( Read more... )

Kaoru picked up a triangle and sat in a corner of the room. He'd wanted to talk to Tamaki, but his friend had immediately headed for the keyboard and...it seemed unfair to disturb him. Besides, Kaoru knew Tamaki would attract attention. He always did. And that worried Kaoru even more. After Tamaki and Hikaru had that little spat, Kaoru realised that maybe their group wasn't that strong out here. Maybe the bonds could easily break. The twins could be easily replaced. He needed to know that Tamaki would be forgiving with Hikaru, should anything happen. If Kaoru was hurt...someone had to look after his brother ( ... )

...except by his brother.

Hikaru had taken to following Kaoru around like a puppy, and was even more clingy after his little fight with Tamaki. It wasn't his fault, really! He'd only been concerned about the Lord, just as Kaoru would have been. He just...couldn't show it very well.

The Host flopped down next to his twin and picked up a recorder, hooting into it but not really creating a tune.

Kaoru looked at his brother, unimpressed. He help his triangle up and dinged it without a smile. And then he shook his head.
Hikaru made it impossible to want to be anywhere but beside him.

Kaoru sat up and held his brother's hand.
"Promise me you wont fight with Tamaki? I know he makes it difficult sometimes..."

All the twins had ever wanted was to protect him. Sure, they poked fun sometimes but... it was an affectionate thing. Kaoru felt far more for Tamaki and Haruhi than any of the others. That's why the twins got at them so much. Just because... they could. Because they wouldn't be turned away and shunned. Usually.

"Tamaki's smart. He's making lots of friends..." Kaoru continued, looking at the blond and his new blond friend. Or Fiance. Who knew. Kaoru was jealous of Tamaki's way with people. Just as he had made a new friend at night, he went and insulted him the very next morning.

"He'll get out of here. And... if we were separated... you'd need someone to watch your back."

Hikaru gave the recorder another decidedly tuneless TOOT in response to his brother's ding and then set it aside. Useless instrument.

He shifted a little and leaned into Kaoru, a familiar position from when they watched television or played a video game together...but instead of a screen, this time they were watching other patients file into the music room and clump up into little groups of two and three.

The Host answered his brother without taking his eyes off of Tamaki on the keyboard (who would expect anything else), playing for that crazy blonde girl he had kissed who had kissed him at breakfast. "I promise," he muttered, watching an old guy try to butt in. "I was just worried...it didn't come out right. He's going to get himself killed if he doesn't watch it."

Hikaru tore his eyes away from the extremely mismatched blond trio and turned his attention to Kaoru. No one knew his brother better than he did, and vice versa. He knew that Kaoru was jealous, just like he knew that it rained during Tsuyu. The slightly older of ( ... )

That conversation went nowhere. The Gambler looked slightly dejected by the time the nurse had pulled him to the Music Room, what with the annoyed frown plastered on his face and his arms crossed over his chest as they were. He had at least managed to perk their interest. Still, it was all and all another pathetic waste of time. Unfortunate; he'd need to be more careful.

This was one bet II was not going to win.

He needed to concentrate. He needed to relax and figure a more logical plan than just 'pull at who looks most desperate for information'. More than that, he needed to think on just how he would orchestrate it.

Without giving a second glace to the others in the room, Luxord found his eyes oddly drawn to the… little piano of some sort to the north of the room. Well, it looked like a piano, but it seemed to be missing a bit of its… dimension.

It didn't seem as different from a normal piano, but it was missing its pedals. He wanted to find himself a chair and play a song he'd heard in visit to one of the worlds. He wasn't the ( ... )

[Alright, that's enough glaring. Time to move up three threads and fix this.]

Claire was still between bolting and sinking into the floor when the red haired stranger and walked in on the conversation. She was actually thankful for the distraction, but was quickly dragged away from the table anyway by a stressed out looking nurse.

There weren't many people in the music room yet, so Claire wandered around by herself looking at the instruments. She'd played recorder in grade school and learned basic piano for her music course, but she'd hardly taken the study seriously. Instead, she took a CD player from her nurse and headed to a comfy looking couch to relax.

Darman picked up one of the tape players. It had a pair of two buds on a cord attached to that and was palm sized - about the size of a datapad, he supposed. The nurse who had escorted him took a moment to explain what it was, smiling warmly at her charge:

"That's a cassette player, Daniel," she said. She took his hands in hers and showed them where to go, what to press to make the device work. "This is to play the music, this to pause, and that is to stop."

The clone stared at it, fascinated. "So I can listen to music for..." Darman searched his memory. "Recreation?"That's what it's for," the nurse smiled, looking at Darman almost as if she pitied him. The clone missed it, too busy turning the cassette player over in his hands and examining the casing. "I'll come pick you up in a bit. Play nice with the others ( ... )

Claire wasn't too into the music playing. This was Earth, right? Hadn't anyone heard of The Killers? Clap Your Hands Say Yeah? Sighing, she took off the headphones and turned her attention to the other couch. RC was there, inspecting a cassette player as though he'd never seen one. Then again, she thought, it was possible he hadn't.

She walked over and sat down next to him. "Hey there," she said, then glanced down at the object in his hand. She wondered if they had things like this on his world - she'd never really bothered to find out (again, Zach's area of expertise and not hers). "I guess they don't have cassette players where your from, huh?"

Wesker had been uninterested in lunch, wondering if perhaps skipping a meal would bring about any noticable changes, like his enhanced senses returning. So far he had yet to notice any progress, but he had eaten breakfast.

Unfortunately, he would have to eat as much at dinner as he could, to ensure his body had the fuel it needed for him to regenerate. When he spotted Claire sitting next to RC One-One-Three-Six, he made his way over calmly and sat down next to the two of them.

Kiden could control time, Claire could Regenerate, Obi-wan could move things with his mind. What he wouldn't give to be in the head doctors position, with so many unique 'patients' running around like this.

Wesker nodded his hello to the two of them, folding his arms over his chest quietly.

Darman looked up. The Earthian girl Claire had wandered over, moving to sit down next to him. It was close, but not umcomfortably so - although he still hadn't gotten used to nonclones getting this close to him and him not having his armor on. He still felt ridiculously naked.

"They don't," Darman said. He glanced down at the cassette player, having just figured out that the buds were labeled R and L (right and left, he supposed) and were probably supposed to go in one's ear. Sticking foreign objects into one's ear didn't strike him as particularly intelligent though.

He glanced at Claire, and tried not to stare too much. Compared to Etain, her face was distractingly symmetrical, and utterly different compared to his Jedi friend. "Do you know what's inside this? Or what materials are used to make it ( ... )

Kairi barely had a chance to eat her food when it was apparently time to move on -- not that she minded, anyway. The food was questionable looking. She soon found herself being ushered the the music room, and, like the good girl that she was, chatted happily with her nurse until the room was finally reached ( ... )

Having gotten it into his head to find Kairi and get her room number, Sora was left with a bit of a dilemma when he had to choose between the Sun Room and the Music Room. Which one would Kairi have decided to go to? On one hand, being able to bask in the sun would be a lot like home. On the other, having music playing was a luxury they weren't entirely used to.

Seeing that she was fairly new to Landel's, she would probably go with the default and head to the Music Room, right? He could only hope.

Luckily, it seemed he knew his friend rather well, as would be expected seeing that they'd been together since childhood. He felt sort of bad for interrupting her when she looked so relaxed, but the truth of the matter was that she was in danger and he had to be sure he could keep track of her.

He drew toward her quietly and placed his hand gently on her shoulder. "And you said I was the lazy bum," he teased.

Kairi had been listening to the music and thinking. OR rather, she was remembering. It had been so long since she was back home on Destiny Islands with Sora and Riku ... maybe they would finally return home after this? They deserved that, right?

"And you said I was the lazy bum."

At Sora's voice and soft touch, Kairi smiled, her eyes remaining shut. "Okay, I admit it ... I'm lazy too. But you're the master," the girl told him with a playful tone, and she opened her eyes soon afterwards, flashing him a bright smile.

The smile was returned with equal brightness and the boy maneuvered so that he was sitting somewhat precariously on one of the chair's armrests. There wasn't much room for him to sit next to Kairi without it being... well, too close for comfort.

"What, the Keyblade Master? All right, maybe," he consented. "But you used a Keyblade, too!" Not that she'd had it for very long, but for the purposes of his argument, he had to bring it up.

Of course, their playful banter could only go on for so long before he'd have to go onto more serious topics, but he'd wait just a little longer.
