[from here]Sheena slipped the coupon book into the back pocket of her pants and wandered down the road. It was good to see the familar sight of an inn, but she didn't have any need to go inside; she was full of energy but she'd keep it in mind if she exhausted herself playing tag later on

He stepped out onto the man street of the town, every fibre of his being wanting to shield in an unknown place which was most likely enemy territory, but he forced himself not to, remembering too well how drained he'd been after shielding last night.

He looked through the people unloading from the buses for either a familiar friendly face or at least someone who didn't look like they wanted to kill him. It was sad how few of those there were at the Institute. Nervously, he tucked his hair back behind his ears yet again. He needed something acceptable to tie it back during the day, because he was getting seriously annoyed at having to keep it out of his face all the time. That and keep pulling the loose heavy jeans back up his nearly nonexistent hips.

Wait, did that make him a toy person, then, if he was in the town, too?
He walked absently along the street. Not that he was lost, mind you, because lost implied he couldn't find where he was going. In this case, Wash had no idea where he even wanted to go. So not lost.
Fortunately, there was someone else here who looked a bit out of sorts himself, and Wash was always up for bonding with those in similar situations. Made him feel less alone.
"Are you looking for someone?" he asked.

He slipped the coupons into his pocket and jerked the annoying jeans upward once again. Then he hugged his bare arms for warmth. "Did you have anywhere in mind to see today?" He still half-hoped for the bookstore and wanted vaguely to get near to where Badou and Artemis were going to meet for lunch.

"I don't want to kill you," he replied, figuring that assurance took priority over his name. "I'm Wash, by the way."
Anywhere in mind to see...he felt like a tourist. He wished there was a brochure and a map and big red circle that said, EXIT HERE. Failing that, he had no idea what he wanted to see.
"I have nowhere in mind," he said.

[ From here... there was a basement? Huh, he'd never even thought about that before. Had Hakkai? Probably, which meant he'd have to go there sooner or later. Sooner, hopefully. Would Sanzo want to go again? He considered it while languidly following Sanzo ( ... )

The monkey had trotted up behind him, finally catching up and slowing enough to walk alongside him. Sanzo gave him a side-wise glance. Again, the chimp was being pretty damn obvious. It was either the bullshit line he'd fed him that tipped Goku off, or he noticed something.
"Just a room that I need to check out later, that's all." And that was all. Sanzo was giving Goku the best 'drop-this-right-now' look he had. He hadn't found the sutra or Hakkai last night, but something was accomplished. Whatever it was, it had two security measures in place.
Hopefully that hairy son of a bitch wouldn't be blocking the way again.
Dealing with an opponent like that wasn't something Sanzo wanted to ever have to repeat. It was one thing to go against someone stronger and bigger than you. Another entirely when they could just take bullets and not go down.

For some reason, he decided to go along with Sanzo's look. Possibly because he knew Sanzo so well, or possibly because he knew he would feel the same way if the situation were reversed. And, really, if he thought about it... Sanzo was hurt, that was pretty much all he needed to know. He'd definitely find the person responsible, that was certain, but there was another certainty: Sanzo would hurt them far more than he could if he got the chance.
"Okay, but take me with you." Sanzo probably wouldn't have any excuses not to, especially if "nothing happened". It wasn't like he wouldn't tag along should Sanzo decline.
Sometimes being stubborn was really helpful.

"You have a sister?" she asked curiously, glancing over at him as she headed for the small shop he'd pointed out. Maybe from there, she could keep an eye on who got on and off the buses...

Celes strolled up the street, not bothered by chill in the morning air. It surprised her that more people were not out on the street; had it been Vector's plebeian regions or Doma's small towns, there would be a hurry of morning activity as the market prepared to open, the smell of fish in the air of South Figaro was even missed. Celes walked down a block, her hair whipped in a strong, chilly breeze. Perhaps some time alone would help prepare her for the evening.
