Nightshift 34: Stairwell by Nurse's Station 1-B

Nny stayed behind GLaDOS until they reached the stairs, at which point he moved up front to provide light. It seemed unusually empty, a fact he welcomed. Hopefully the second floor would be empty, or at least emptier than the first. He angled his flashlight upwards and ascended the stairs.

GLaDOS approached the stairs and came to a stop. Her memory, usually flawless data (unless it had been entered wrong) abruptly failed her. She couldn't quite recall ... couldn't quite remember ...

But that was a human failing. A worthless human failing. And she, despite all appearances, was not a human quite yet.

"We go straight, initially. There will be a turn somewhere, and we'll take that. It should lead down a hall to the kitchen." It was a bit of a maze up there, reaching the kitchen itself, weaving through doorways and rooms and fighting off the enemies likely to be there. "It might take some time."

A turn...somewhere. That was helpful. He looked back down at her, brow raised. "Some time?" Odd. It hadn't taken much time to reach GLaDOS, and unless the second floor was just bigger than the floor...

What was he thinking? That was completely possible. He was still in dream territory, after all. At least, he thought he was. He couldn't be completely sure.

"Are there monkeys?"
