Nightshift 34: M61-M70 Hallway

Aug 14, 2008 19:51

Both nightshift and his Noah kicked in after what seemed like forever. Tyki slicked his hair back and grabbed his things before stepping into the hallway. It seemed he was pretty early considering no one was around just yet, but that would mean no one would beat him to the kitchen, right ( Read more... )

So the defenses were down, huh?

Kurogane wasn't so sure he wanted to venture that far away from this place just yet, annoying though it was. It was doubtful that they could escape completely within the night - the magic in this place probably extended well beyond the walls - and anyway, there were things that needed answered from this place first. The basement was still something he'd yet to reach, so he'd be heading there again, this time without any hindrances. The Princess wasn't there anymore, and the idiot would be stupid. No reason for him to deal with either of those problems at the start of this night. They'd surface in the morning if there had been problems.

Probably.

Sighing, he left the room with the Basement as his only destination.

Like hell Conklin was going to sleep tonight. No, tonight was a night for action. The only problem was that he didn't know quite what he was going to do.

Maybe I can waltz right out the front door.

Snorting slightly at the thought - how likely would that be to work? - he grabbed his cane and radio, tucking the flashlight into his cane hand. Time to go.

As per usual Siegfried took the torch, pipe, and maps before he left the room. He debated taking the radio, but decided to leave it behind this time. If anything happened he would still be aware of it, even if it was through the Head Doctor’s retorts.

No use crying over spilled milk or whatever.

Reid wasn’t the type to ask for help, and so had spent dinner in silence with his roomie. Wasn’t like the guy was very good company anyway. And Reid wasn’t about to ask to hang with the guy just ‘cause he’d lost the gift the dear, sweet doctor had given him, like he was too much of a pussy to go out without one. Monsters or not, the dark didn’t scare him.

It’d be a pain in the ass to wander around without a flashlight, but he’d have to take it in stride. No way in hell was he going to sit out the night, or even try in vain to sleep. (Like that would happen.) He’d take the sleep deprivation. Changing into his street clothes, he said goodbye to his prison cell for the time being.

Maybe he’d get lucky and stumble across a tossed out light. Even without batteries, Reid thought his Power’d be enough to jump start one…

Without his tools and machinery, this was all very difficult work. Citan would have given anything for more than just a scalpel and a flashlight. But without anything else...

Well, one did what one could. Now all he needed was something to work on.

Flashlight and scalpel in hand, he headed out into the hallways.
