[from here]This shinigami moved out into the hallway at the end of the women's block. It seemed she was moving faster than the others given how empty it all seemed. She shot a quick look down both Signum and Skuld's hallways as she headed to the door to the outer hallway. She paused at the door, listening for sound beyond it, before opening it

Okay. It looked just like it had during the day, only darker. Night, darker, made sense. Nothing sinister so far. There was only one door in this hallway, so Rose headed towards it.

The hall was empty. She thought she saw movement nearby, but it was already gone by the time she looked. Elincia walked quickly across the dark hallway, on the lookout for anything dangerous. There didn't seem to be anything around. Feeling slightly braver, she walked slightly slower towards a door she saw at the end of the hallway.

As soon as she stepped outside her door, Harley clicked on the flashlight she had found hidden under her pillow. A part of her wondered if it had been there the whole time, but now wasn't the time to think about such things. She had to remember the path she had tried memorizing on the map.
She followed the hallway all the way down, just as she had the other nights. It was somewhat easier with a flashlight, but also a lot creepier, too. It wasn't so strange since she was actually more used to working in pitch black. Harley turned and moved quickly toward the big door along the far wall.

Melissa didn't even need to scan the area to know that Lia wasn't there yet. She leaned up against the wall next to the bathroom door, closing her eyes and just hoping that Lia managed to get there soon. The last thing she needed was some ape monster to attack her right there and then, when she only had one arm and nothing to use as even a makeshift weapon.
Remembering suddenly how monsters' minds tended to be completely nonexistent, Melissa's eyes snapped open and she stood up straighter. Nothing was going to take her by surprise.

As Lia turned into the hall connecting the branches of the women's cell block, she looked carefully down along the halls. She'd learned the night prior that the beasts present seemed capable of masking themselves from psychic detection, and so the only warning she'd have of their presence would be through her physical senses. It made her uneasy. It was dark, even with the hand-light, and the shadows pooled and lingered oddly. There were too many places to hide.
On her second pass, she spotted Melissa, and headed for the other woman. She kept her pace just slow enough to avoid sacrificing quiet for speed. "It sounds as though we'll have extra obstacles tonight, if that bastard doctor's taunts are to be trusted," she murmured as she came to a stop just a little more than an arm's length away. "Finding a weapon is sounding better and better..."

"In other news, the front door was open last night," she murmured in return. "Apparently, that's never happened before. It wasn't possible to climb over the walls before last night, either." She didn't know what was going on or what the doctor was planning, but if the front door was unlocked, that's where Melissa thought they should head.
"Where could we find weapons?" The mental block would be relatively easy to break with enough power, but power was precisely what Melissa wanted to save for right now. Ironically enough, asking questions was easier at the moment.

"The greenhouse, perhaps. There are some gardening implements that could be used offensively if need be. Or we could search the kitchens for a knife or two, if they haven't had the sense yet to lock them up." Lia glanced upward and added, "There's a kitchen on the second floor. It was locked, but we would likely be able to force the door."

Karla turned at the end of the hall of rooms, following a mental map to find her way out of the block. She stopped in the larger hall, watching people milling about, with...
Balls of light? Those weren't witchlight. They didn't even resemble Landen lanterns or candles. She stayed where she was, considering this confusing problem of light where there shouldn't be light and wondering what else this place would come up with to mess with her.

"There you are," Lucivar said, glancing around Karla for any signs of trouble. Thankfully, there didn't seem to be any monsters around and his tension eased somewhat.
"Have you been bothered?" he asked swiftly, already beginning to fuss over her. "Tell me if anyone has thought to attack you and this pole will be so far down their throats that they'll be digesting metal for weeks."
