The first sweep of his flashlight's beam revealed six beds covered by crisp white linens. Although he knew that the room's purpose must have been dark, there was nothing sinister about the space itself. A desk in the corner held a computer identical to the ones he'd seen in the library, but Mello didn't waste any time trying to boot

The driving voice broke off as soon as the door slammed shut. He felt it leave, washed away by a coldness that was neither pleasant nor unpleasant, and he sagged against the wooden door. God, this stupid place. He'd wasted so much energy on nothing. If Mello had cared enough, he would have considered the realization some kind of epiphany, but the thought was so saturated in indifference that it left his mind as soon as it surfaced.
His fingers were still wrapped around the edge of the pillowcase and the flashlight remained in his hand, though when he slid to the ground it rested on the tile beside him. Not like he needed it. Let something attack him. It wasn't like he could die here. He'd just wake up the next morning and do the same damn thing over again.

There was a light along the floor as Matt entered. A patient's flashlight, from the looks of it. The fact that it was on the floor wasn't a good sign, but as the young man shown his own light in that direction it illuminated a very familiar figure. Mello was slumped there. Matt was immediately wary. Whatever had hurt him could still be in the room. His light revealed nothing, however, and he rushed to the blond's side as the other two entered. Hopefully they could handle whatever it was if it showed. They were the fighters here, weren't they?
"Oi. Michael." Mocking his friend could come later. What had he been saying about going out alone? Hypocritical bastard. He grabbed the man's wrist to check his pulse. "What happened?"

Several tense moments went by as Sano moved around the room, shining his light wherever he could think of. He was silent while he searched, but after a thorough look (and ensuring that the air wasn't getting any damn thicker), he shook his head. "Nothing here. Think he might have run this far or something? Doubt the damn monsters would lose interest."
Sanosuke moved back over to Kenshin, but directed his next question to Robin. "How's he doing? Any way we can help?"

The chemical storage should've been just up ahead, not too far. If he remembered the maps correctly, that was, which, admittedly, was kind of fuzzy in his mind.
Well, whatever. If it wasn't at the door up there, then it'd be through one of the doors around here. Probably one that'd already been broken into. He'd gotten a late start tonight; no doubt, someone must've headed up here already.
It didn't matter too much. He just wanted to scope out the area.

Walking past his redheaded companion, Yuber glanced back over his shoulder as he murmured, “I doubt that transition would happen in our rooms between dinner and the beginning of the night period.”
No there was no way such a thing could happen. The fact that his Eightfold Rune was silent every minute of the day was sign of that.
Yuber’s gaze narrowed subtly at that thought before he slipped through to the next room.

Yuber found his attention drifting over towards the group as he stepped out from the storage room. He sighted the large spider approaching behind one of the other patients was difficult to miss, but given the fact that none of those threatened were contracted to him, Yuber turned his gaze away from the sight. Without so much as a second glance, the Black Knight began to head back to the door they first entered through to.
He had more important things to concern himself by anyway.

Moving quickly through the Decontamination room, Daemon led the way into the room where he'd fought the leftover with his father and Lucivar. Again, the room showed signs that they were not the first to come here this night, but luckily, the little box he though John might be looking for still sat on the desk against the far wall.
"Is that it?" he asked, pointing in that direction.

John fiddled around with the switches, hoping there was enough power for the computer to turn on. "Come on, come on," he said, hitting the power button. Nothing seemed to be working.
"Shit, it won't turn on," he frowned. "But it's ok. If I can get it back to my room maybe I can see if it will plug in. If not, I'll scrap it for parts."

It was a bit sloppy but John was able to wiggle the motherboard out of the tower. He wrapped it up in his t-shirt before placing it gingerly into the bag. "It's useless right now," he said to Daemon. "But if I can find some tools maybe I can rig them up to a monitor some night."
He threw the wires and the powersupply in the bag for good measure, nodding his head once he gutted the computer. John wasn't entirely sure why but just having the computer parts made him feel better.

She stepped into the room. It was almost anticlimactic, except that Ami could almost hear the screams echoing from the beds which lined the room. A tiny light in the corner of the room caught her attention. A computer! This could be just the thing I need! Maybe it had records of patients on it, or data about how they came here.
Ami practically ran over to it. Glancing around the room quickly first, she switched it on, her heart in her mouth.
Damn. Security protected! Ami's brow creased in concentration. She wasn't a hacker and she wasn't sure what kind of defence mechanisms were built into the computer. She looked around the room again and then back at the computer. The information was so close! Ami ran her hands through her hair. She didn't have the skills to hack into a computer, especially one with such an advanced security system. But the information in the computer could be about....the experiments. This was a much more plausible thought. Any information regarding all the patients in here and how they got here ( ... )
