Mello turned right and started down the hallway closest to the stairwell he'd used to reach the second floor. Before him, everything was silent, though the bulletin had told him that past the wall to his left, people were being tortured and used as experiements.
He mentally shrugged as he moved down the corridor, focusing on the white

Out of the room, away from the torture chambers, Okita felt a little safer. He knew he shouldn't feel that way, but as long as he could get away from the broken vial and the rotting corpses, he was better. Out here, he could breathe - the endless dark was comforting. Staggering out into the hall, Okita hit the opposite wall and slid down it.
What had he done? What was happening right now inside him? His right hand ached and he looked down at it, blood and glass shards mixed with sludge and burns and - God, he was a mess. He didn't want to be found now. If no one was waiting for him, then he didn't want to be seen. Pushing himself back to his feet, he managed to get a yard or two up the hall before his legs gave out under him and he hit the floor. He just had to wait until morning and things would be-- they'd be worse, but he could put all of this out of mind.

Hijikata skidded to a stop as he saw the door swinging open, second on the left. Someone had already--
Swinging open. Someone had come from the inside. His gaze tracked to the other side of the hallway, to a shadow darker than the hall's gloom -- a figure. Huddled in the shadows, curled against the base of the wall-- Hijikata knew him instantly, though he didn't know how he knew in the dark, with hair matted by some vile liquid, skin streaked with something else black in the shadows.
"Souji. He sank to his knees next to the younger man, hands reaching out to grab Souji's shoulders, then hesitating - there was the smell of rot and worse, yes, but under it he could smell smoke and the too-familiar tang of fresh blood. Souji was injured. Without knowing where or how badly, he didn't dare a touch that might hurt him worse ( ... )

Kenren's eyes widened when he saw Okita, covered in filth and fuck knew what else, huddled against the wall and looking nothing like the man that Kenren had met and fought side by side with. It made his anger burn hot at the thought, his expression darkening into one of pure rage. How dare they do this to them! How dare they break warriors who were brave and strong!
He turned to Junior, slipping easily into the mindset of General, something that he hadn't used in a long time. He gestured to the open door to the corridor where the MU sessions took place before turning back to the others. "We'll go get Homura," he said, an order more than a suggestion. "You stay here. If you can, try and get some cleaning stuff from the pharmacy. It should be mentioned on the maps."
With that, he turned on his heel and stalked off through the door, determined to retrieve Homura no matter the cost.

Kaito knelt next to Okita and Hijikata, gritting his teeth. Finding Okita had been easier than he'd expected, but what had the staff done to him...? How could they...
He looked up when one of the other men, the one he recognized from Homura's room his first night at the Institute, said they were going to go get Homura. "Good luck," Kaito told him as he and another headed through the door.
Returning his attention to Okita, he wished he had brought some sort of medical supplies with him... Making a quick trip to raid the pharmacy as the other man had suggested sounded like a good idea. He glanced around the hallway. There weren't any monsters in sight, but... The blonde man who had told him about Okita had warned that there were nasty ones in the area.
"Hijikata-san," Kaito said in a hushed tone, "should we take Okita-san somewhere safer?"

Yuber momentarily paused just beyond the broken door to his right as he glanced down the adjoining hallway. There was something obviously happening in that direction, but from what he could sense, it was hardly anything that he found interest in. Turning his attention back to the hallway in front of him, Yuber knew he’d been in this direction a few nights earlier, but he also knew that there was a good stash of weapons and such just ahead.
Smirking softly he continued on through to the next hall.

The corridor just outside was empty when they emerged from the MU hallway. The others were gone, which Kenren hoped meant that they had managed to get Okita off to a safe place, rather than that they'd been attacked or had randomly vanished. He didn't like the random vanishing bit. That was probably what unnerved him the most. Dead was dead but disappeared was more worrying.
He looked both ways along the corridor, helping Homura move along with them. "The Sun Room halls are next," he said in a low voice, more for Homura's benefit than anything. "It might be guarded but we'll see when we get there."

The redhead hovered near Homura's other side, just in case he needed any more support. He was grateful that Kenren was letting them know what was coming up, though. He hadn't been up to this floor before, and didn't want to take the time to look at his map. But just so long as they got there, he could worry about the layout later. "Like I said, I'll cover you if it's guarded. Just get him to the chapel."

Empty hallways still. Reno twirled the knife absently as he walked along.
Chrissake. This was so insanely dull. He always started out the night preferring nothing get in his way, but no more than halfway through, and he was usually actively looking for something to kill.

“That would depend,” Yuber murmured as he slipped through to the next hall.

Valyn's pace was increasing, and the muscles in his back and arms were visibly tense and tight with anger and determination. He stalked the hallways, jaw almost aching from the force of clenching his teeth together.
He couldn't remember quite when he'd felt as angry and full of rage as he was right now.
