Nightshift 20, Outside Room F1

Lust ignored the intercom for the most part. She was tired, her body drained and in need of rest. When the damned radio began spewing nonsense, she finally roused herself from bed. She retrieved her blades and slipped them on, realizing she had no plan whatsoever. She rarely did, but at least she generally had someone to meet up with. Not ( Read more... )

Haruhi was already waiting for Lust when the older woman emerged from her room. There didn't seem to be much to say anymore. Go around, find anything that could help, don't die. So she waited, giving Lust a little wave with her free hand, the hand that didn't hold her flashlight, waiting for Lust to take the lead like she liked to.

She also indicated her flashlight, letting the other woman know that she did not have to turn on her own. Conserve batteries, because they didn't know how long they would last.

"Ah, Haruhi." Lust inclined her head to the younger woman. Younger looking, anyway. "Did you happen to catch what the radio was babbling about? The damn thing woke me up." She didn't bother turning on her flashlight, aware that Haruhi's would give them enough light.

"It said that the dead speak. And there are seven of them, seven dead that will speak, if the radio man thinks anything like normal. Oh, and he warned us that nasty things are attracted by the dead. Not that I'm surprised, but I'm not thrilled at the idea of worse things out there," Haruhi related. She always listened to the radio for any scrap of information that might help. Though she had wondered about where the radio signal came from. Maybe they could get to the roof or... she shook her head. She needed to save these ideas for someone of a more thorough mind than Lust.

"The dead speak?" Lust frowned. "Does he mean those that are here that should be dead?" She knew there were a handful of them. She supposed she was one of them. But she certainly didn't have anything to say. "How odd. More riddles, I suppose. Do you think it's worth looking into?

[Coming from here.]

It was a slow trek from M2 to the F1 hall, what with having to carry a worn out II along with him (Luxord never did say he was winning an award for strength), but Aesop seemed keen on saying that 'slow and study won the race'. Clearly, the man never once dealt with a time limit before blood hungry demons bounded on him.

F3, F3… Had that not been what Naminé said during breakfast before that nuisance of a replica interrupted them? He was sure of it, truly... The Gambler glanced around the area, still cursing whom ever had the gall to steal his flashlight the first night he was there and his staggering inability to get around any faster. But F3 was right there, as promised. Sadly, he hadn't the hands to open the door at the moment. He said no words, merely nodded his head in the direction of the handle to Xigbar.

"Got it, got it." Of course, being dragged around wasn't a walk in the park either; his ribs were feeling sore from where Luxord's bony shoulders dug into them, his arm starting to fall asleep as it was slung across those self-same shoulders. A refreshing stroll, this was not. But for Xigbar, who'd been through much worse, it wasn't too bad.

He pried open the handle, shoving it with his free hand and wincing in pain. Still hurt, still achey. That would teach him to keep in his bounds.

Bony?! Lines, all lies! With the door open, Luxord wasted no time to slink inside, opening his mouth to call out the girl… who was not in her room. It felt as if a bolt of lightening has struck the Gambler, his mind's odd attempt at anger, surprise, or whatever it was trying to create making him crunch down on the candy cane in his mouth. She wasn't here! Where could she possibly have gone?! What if something bad did happen and-

Noticing he had been squeezing the other's wrist, he loosened his grip, quietly making his way over to the bed so II could rest there. Naminé had to be close by, shouldn't she? They didn't that that long, did they? Since they were here though, perhaps the files they took earlier would be here as well. They would be rather helpful in showing what exactly the doctors had on them, in any case, then he could find Naminé. Wherever she went… oh, she was not going to hear the end of this, not for a long time!

"Huh... looks like the bird's flown the coop. Told ya, X. And she knew I was comin', too; makes you wonder, don't it?"

Xigbar was just as shocked as Luxord was, but that hardly meant he was going to show it.

And now that the Gambler had released his death-grip on Xigbar's hand, he felt a little better. Sitting down was even better, and II quickly flopped full out, to put some ease on his aching back. And aching everything else. "So now what?"

((Coming from here. ))

Well, didn't that just beat all? Namine wanted to stick with a normal little girl instead of the Organization. And X was fawning over her like it was going out of style.

Maybe this place really did do funky things with the mind. Nobody was acting like themselves, except for those who were crazy to begin with. It made Xigbar wonder if that meant he was crazy, as he was just like his old, charming self.

...ugh. He needed to limp to the meeting, but he was so tired...

"Planning to do this all on your own, hmm?" As rude as the Gambler could be and was, it was just not in him to watch his… was II a friend? Luxord could not remember what, exactly, a friend was. But the Freeshooter was close to what that idea was, he supposed. And it wasn't in him to watch his supposed friends be murdered violently. maimed beyond recognition was fine, but dying just made him rather cross. So X trailed after the other with his hands behind his back, journal resting under one arm. "Did not tell you at least five times beforehand that there are some pretty hungry monstrosities around?"

As if noticing for the first time, the blond tilted his head. "What happened to your shirt?"

"Like I need anyone to help me?" Xigbar scoffed as he dragged himself along the walls, slow and pained but dedicated to going anyway. "I've got a weapon and I've got enough to move along, that's all I need."

Somehow, however, Xigbar was a bit relieved that Luxord had followed along. Not because he had an illusions about the other Nobody helping him out in anything, especially as he insisted that he was fine, but having someone to banter with made the journey easier. As arguing with oneself, in an asylum, would rather be a bad thing.

"And I still say that I can handle any creepy crawlies. I'm the Freeshooter, dude; if I can't handle a critter or three then everyone else is just sunk. 'sides, wouldn't be the first time something's taken a chomp out of me."

He stopped when that last question hit his pointed ear, and then he turned to Luxord and grinned. "Admiring the view? Hah, but that's my little secret for now. You're a sharp little tack, you'll figure it out."

Damn straight Luxord wasn't going to help, but he may as well keep company. No use in leaving the other alone.

"Oh yes, Xig. You are just full of inner strength and wonder. I can tell that in a few seconds, it will be just as if you ate your spinach and you'll tear out of here at super speed." The Gambler rolled his eyes, grinning slightly. Oh, sarcastic banter. He'd been missing that for the past couple of days. "I told you, we've not much of our powers here. I can barely slide cards around too long without becoming exhausted. It matters not to them who you were."

Luxord did not even give II the satisfaction of a response to that last comment… Well, puckering his lips in a mock kiss to the air, aside. Two could play it that way.
