[from here] John turned the knob of the door and was surprised to find that it opened easily. "Perhaps our luck has changed," he said, giving Wolfram a smile as he stepped into the room ( Read more... )

"Insurance? What's that...?"

Wolfram resisted the urge to sit down, but he did hold his injured wrist close to his body. He didn't think it was broken, but it was definitely sprained as far as he could tell.

Trying to distract himself from it, he glanced over at what John was looking at.

"Letters... Wait... didn't the radio say something about... Maybe?"

Although now he couldn't quite remember what it was. Considering that he'd just been knocked almost senseless a few minutes earlier, who could blame him?

"It's not important," John said, not really wanting to explain what insurance was to someone who had never heard of the medical system before. "Let's just say it's frustrating."

He moved his flashlight around before turning to Wolfram, noticing that the boy was holding his wrist gingerly. "Are you alright?" he asked, concerned for his companion overpowering any thought about what the radio may or may not have said.

Wolfram glanced down, assessing himself. Well, his head still kind of hurt, but it was no longer throbbing, and he was fairly certain that he didn't have to worry about losing his dinner now. He was tired, and sore, and he was pretty sure that there was still a long ways to go before the sun rose.

But he simply nodded, closing his eyes briefly before looking towards his wrist. "I'm... alright. It's not the worst injury I've ever had. I'll wrap it when I find something useful."

Something didn't feel right in this room, but maybe that's just how it was all over this building. He tried to keep his guard up, listening for anymore strange sounds.

"We should wrap it now," John said, opening his pillow case and reaching inside, pulling out his sweater. "We might not get another chance. The least we can do is put it in a sling."

John tied the arms together in a double knot before handing it to Wolfram. "That should at least help a little," he shrugged. "I hope that's not the arm you usually hold your sword in."

From Here

Winry pointed her flashlight around, regarding the small room with a critical eye. There were bits of cobweb, which made her raise her eyebrow in disgust. As messy as she was much of the time, she really hated when things got left alone long enough to attract spiders and such; she'd had too many bad experiences with dusty tool shelves and their inhabitants in her hair. It wasn't really a fear; just grossed her out. A lot.

"Ew, don't they clean this place?"

Bridget followed the light of Winry's torch, thinking it wasn't too bad in here. Then again, after some of the places he'd seen before, nothing was really too bad.

"Maybe the rooms change at night like everything else here," Bridget offered. "Maybe it's clean during the day and .... messy at night." Seemed possible, if a bit odd.

Kagura wasn't particularly excited about the room either, but she was glad to be out of the eerie hallway. For some reason, the rooms felt a bit safer. She wasn't excited, however, to see the cobwebs littering the place here and there. Really, how long had it been since they'd cleaned this place out?

She took a few more steps inside. It looked like this was something like a mail delivery room. There were cabinets and letters scattered around, but something seemed off about it all. "Nn... but Hatori-san's office wasn't messy at night when I saw it. He keeps it really clean."

Kagura sighed and started perusing the letters. Normally, she wouldn't be so forward, but... maybe they could at least find something worth finding. Like a letter marked with the date, or a care package with something useful.

"I don't know if there's going to be much of anything here," she sighed, setting down the small stack in her hand and glancing around for anything else.

While the spider had resigned itself to spending the rest of the night resting and nursing its wounds, it appeared that the humans were definitely on the move tonight. Surprised that its webs didn't alert them to any danger, it once again prepared to hunt.

Three on one made it a little more cautious, but all of three of these humans were fairly small - easy pickings.

There was one who was seeming to take the lead, as she had already started looking around. The spider traversed the ceiling, prepared to try that same method again. It was just that this time, it didn't plan to let them escape. Once it was right over her, the spider let itself fall directly onto the girl.
