Day 32: Sun Room (4th Shift)

May 24, 2008 18:58

It was rare that Homura's nurse try to persuade him to a scheduled activity, but then, it was rare that Homura didn't go. But the demi-god had plans, and the poor woman had little other choice but to leave in a huff as he once again settled himself near the bulletin board in the Sun Room ( Read more... )

No room number for the Princess. That knowledge, or lack thereof had Kurogane sighing as he entered the Sun Room. He hadn't been able to come up with anything for how little time there had been, but there wasn't much that could be done now. He didn't want her leaving her room for any reason, nor did he want her letting her door open so they could find her. The hallways were too dangerous, and there was no keeping monsters from entering a room, even if they were supposedly "safe".

As usual, he picked an empty couch and slumped into it. His plans had changed again now that the Princess had shown up. More things needed to be considered, like if the Kid and Mokona really were in the basement. He knew without a doubt that Mokona was somewhere, but as for Syaoran... he could still be stuck in transport or something ridiculous, not even in this world yet and no guarantee that he would show up. That was not good. And then there was the other option: that Syaoran was here, but was being held somewhere for torture ( ... )

[Waiting on the thief Mello]Sai's nurse was silent as she led him straight to the sun room after lunch, not even asking if he'd rather go elsewhere. Perhaps it was a sort of punishment in her eyes, though he couldn't care less. The few disappointed glares she aimed his way indicated how utterly put off she was that he'd gotten himself into trouble enough for a sedation. He knew it broke his good record. Would it be worth trying to gain it back ( ... )

When everything went perfectly Mello loved the sensation of thought, of feeling his mind move so quickly and precisely that it balanced like a gyroscope atop his consciousness. He was no closer to achieving his goals than he'd been at breakfast, but now he was certain they were within his reach.

He latched onto two conversations as soon as he entered the sun room, then reviewed his future plans as he skimmed the message board. This time, he wouldn't let himself fall asleep. There was too much to accomplish.

And he'd start by reinforcing his relationships with his current allies.

If Mello noticed Sai's dazed expression when he dropped onto the couch beside him, he gave no outward indication. "How's the door coming?" he asked.

Mello was one of the last people Sai needed to be speaking with while slightly uninhibited. When he looked over, however, dark eyes partially obscured by his bangs, it was with his usual smile. "Hello, Thief."

He had to take a few seconds to think over what the blond meant about 'the door.' "Ah. Righ'. We haven't gotten much done on that." If he thought this the slightest bit troublesome, it was impossible to tell.

"How're you?"

Well, that was unexpectedly blunt.

It didn't take a genius to see that something had been done to Sai, most likely something chemical. Mello shouldn't have been surprised that he'd get himself sedated--after all, he'd responded with swift violence when he suspected Mello was a thief--but based on his stoic demeanor, it was hard to believe he'd participate in a fight that he knew would end like this.

He let the accusation pass without comment.

"I'm fine," Mello said with a quick nod. "You seem kind of tired, though. Everything okay?" 'Sedated' wasn't the best word to use, but surely Sai knew that Mello knew something was off about him. Pretending not to notice would have seemed even more suspicious.

Like hell he was going to be spending any time in a room that contained musical instruments. Asch much preferred spending his time in a more quieter setting--especially since he still sported a bump on his head from getting whacked with that flashlight last night. Adding music (or people who only thought they could play music, as he assumed would be the case) to the mix would likely only result in a headache.

That was the major factor when the God-General chose the Sun Room over the Music Room. The former choice was bound to be quieter in the end, and it was certainly emptier than usual. Not that that was a problem; quite the contrary, actually. The redhead had no complaints about the room in that regard. It would lower the chance of having to put up with anyone, at any rate.

Asch took a seat on an empty couch, although it wasn't long before he laid down completely, his arms underneath his head. Night would be falling soon, so resting for the moment seemed the best idea.

The halls were as bland as the ceiling had been, and there was a distinct feeling that this place was set up to handle all sorts of strange cases of people. There were patients in similar outfits as he had wandering after nurses, so it seemed to be expected that a guide was necessary. The place was spotless, which was impressive given the meandering of patients and staff about the halls as he was directed to the Sun Room ( ... )

Something about the older guy peering at the bulletin board caught Farfarello's attention. He was probably new, since Farfarello hadn't seen him before, so maybe it was his attitude that was so curious--he seemed more interested than angry, fearful or confused. He might be able to keep Farfarello entertained until the shift ended, even. "Hey, new guy."

His list of items to research and look into was quite a bit longer than he had originally anticipated. That was no matter, since research was one of this activities he was naturally good at. Besides, it gave him something to be social about, instead of losing himself in reminscing... though, he did like his memories. So many to go through.

Pulling his head up slowly at the call, he turned his head to regard the person greeting him and managed a pleasant smile. "Hello," he replied and scribbled down a few more notes before pulling himself free of the many slips of paper. He had to pick a few off and replace them on the board. "Yes, I do believe that I'm new here to this... interesting concept. Is there something that I can help you with?"

Farfarello laughed and shook his head. "I knew it. You're a real odd duck, old man. Most new people are either furious or scared shitless. And usually it's them wanting help, not offering it."

[waiting to get pwnt by Shion]

Naminé chose to retreat into the Sun Room, preferring to relax before the night came. She supposed she should have looked around for people to recruit for their little adventure to the basement, but Alita sounded like she already had choice people in mind. Naminé didn't know anyone to ask anyway. Most people already had plans for the night.

So the girl simply sat on the couch, debating on what she should do. Maybe she should ask for details on the Bulletin Board, since it sounded like quite a few people had already visited the basement. Then at the very least, they wouldn't be going in blindly.

That sounded like a good idea. Naminé stood up and wandered over, pen in hand and ready to write her inquiry.

Well, this room sure was bright. Shion was surprised to see a few people wandering around here and there, but other than that, there really wasn’t anything of interest to the teen. Something that looked like a bulletin board hung on one wall … but other than that? A pretty boring room.

Sighing to herself, Shion moved towards said bulletin to look at what was written, and if there was anything she could use. Perhaps a bit more information about the place. Anything would be helpful to her, really. Was this place really like a waiting room for another life? Another chance? So far, it just looked like a big load of dull! The teenager pouted to herself as her head whipped around back and forth to check her surroundings, for some sign of anything ( ... )

The sudden collision into another person made Naminé almost tumble to the ground, only saved by a nearby chair that she was able to grab. She gasped at the shriek she heard though; the other person looked like they suffered quite a nasty spill.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I should have been more careful," The witch apologized, leaning forward to offer her hand to help the green-haired girl. What a pretty color!

"Thank goodness, you're alright!"

She seemed to have overestimated exactly how tall the girl was, because Naminé's hand made contact with her emerald hair, patting it slightly. The green tresses tickled and Naminé started to pull her hand away.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I meant to..."

Thank goodness you’re all right.Every inch of Shion’s body was screaming at those words, and the sudden touch to her hair only made it worse. She had felt the same touch, heard the same words … she had heard and felt them both before, from a much more important person. How could this sniveling, unimportant child have known exactly what to say? Exactly what to do ( ... )
