[ Coming from here.]Sliding the door open, Daemon paused to listen in the darkened stairwell for a long moment before he moved into the enclosed space, waiting for Lucivar and Saetan to catch up as he put his step up on the first step and aimed his flashlight beam upwards to make sure there was nothing waiting to drop in on them. Until they found ( Read more... )

Lucivar finally felt a sense of rightness as they began exploring. With a goal in mind he was able to use his anger and his rage to do what he did best. He looked around, his guard always up as he covered Daemon's back, almost waiting to be ambushed. "Everything clear?" he asked softly.

Not hurrying but not lagging, Saetan brought up the rear. Guarding their backs was yet another matter he took seriously. (Even if he hated stairs.) He didn't speak, knowing that his sons would know he was there, and he instead made sure to keep an ear out behind them as they ascended.

"From what I can tell," Daemon answered, his own voice solemn and hushed as he glanced over his shoulder and nodded at the other two Warlord Princes. "Stick close, though. I'm not sure how close this will let us out in regards to the emergency from earlier."

"Even without weapons I'm eager for someone to attempt to stop us," Lucivar growled with a smile. He looked back at his father and gave him a wink. Lucivar had to admit, he was curious to see them all in action. The fight during the day was over much too early.

Momo started up the stairs and then stopped about halfway up. She titled her head a little and looked back down the stairs, past Hokuto and Archer. Did she just feel...?

She narrowed her eyes a little and scolded herself for letting her hopes suddenly jump like they did. She was on a mission and she needed to focus on that. The shinigami turned and started back up the stairs.

"What is it?" Hokuto asked in a low voice. If this wasn't the time, okay, but Momo had noticed something and she hadn't. Since they really had no way of knowing what was important and what wasn't, keeping her and Archer informed seemed like a good idea.

Hokuto was as alert as she could be; keeping her mind clear and still was nearly effortless in this kind of situation, and every bit of her attention was on her surroundings. However, she couldn't sense much of anything, leaving her at a distinct disadvantage.

Archer noticed Momo's hesitation and turned to glance in the same direction for a moment, trying to see through the cover of darkness. He couldn't make out anything significant, and his magical senses weren't even half of what they should have been.

Suddenly, static burst out of the radio, which Archer had picked up on the way out of his room. It was a good thing he had set the volume low, otherwise they might have attracted some unwanted attention. Now, he raised the volume just enough so they could hear the enigmatic voice on the radio.

The room where there is almost always sound other than talking during the day? Could it be...

"Do you think she's referring to the Music Room?" Archer suggested quietly but confidently, despite his limited knowledge of the institute. He didn't really know if the voice on the radio was trustworthy, but it sounded a lot more interesting than just rescuing patients.

Momo shook her head at Hokuto. "Nothing. I just thought I felt something familiar," she answered quietly.

The radio broadcast was noted and the shinigami nodded to Archer. "Most likely. The previous radio personality hid this in that room," she said with a gesture to her katana. "I hope someone can wrest it from whatever monster is guarding it."

She kept on up the stairs and turned down the hall at the top of the stairs.

Assassins were trained in moving through crowds and past other without being noticed. Ex-assassins never lost that knowledge. Rena was a quick learner, the Bride thought, as the two crept silently up the stairs, skirting past the others.
