F10 Hallway (Nightshift 18)

The day hadn't begun very well, and it wasn't getting any better. The announcement of the storm had taken her off guard, as did the return to their rooms. She remembered the last storm that this place had had. There had been no safety measures then. And then... then the damned doctor and his gleeful torment. She was starting to hate that man ( Read more... )

A light caught Scholar Ling's eyes; something brighter than the light of lanterns, nearly as bright as the eyes of an elder demon. It belonged, as the scholar could see after a brief moment to let her eyes adjust, to a woman with fine features and hard eyes and an interesting weapon on her fingers.

There was but one thing to do, for a follower of the Way.

"Are you going forth to kill?" The question had no tone of accusation or guilt; rather a mere curiosity, as though asking about the weather or the plans for a flower arrangement.

Lust turned on her heel, pivoting smoothly as she heard the voice. She titled her head, eyes sweeping over the woman who had called out to her in the dark hallway. It was no one familiar, and Lust simply nodded a tight nod. She hadn't missed the second intercom announcement. More patients. More poor blind fools unleashed into this god forsaken place, needing so much from those who had been there longer.

"I am," she replied, lowering her flashlight so as not to blind the other woman. "I haven't seen you here before."

Just when things had become something like routine... Haruhi sighed, tearing up her map from before and throwing the scraps away. Lust might have been right after all, but that wouldn't stop her from doing it again. She tore out more pages from her journal and stuffed them in a pocket along with a pen. Then with radio secure on a cord around her neck and flashlight in hand, she stepped once more out into the darkness of Landels' night.

And saw Lust at the end of the hallway. Haruhi kept her flashlight off for now, following the hall with her hand on the wall.

"Hello," she said, not wanting to be in the way, but not wanting to be accidentally attacked on account of anyone's hightened nerves.

The newcomer didn't merit a glance from Scholar Ling; her attention was on Lust, and a faint smile appeared on her delicate features. Ah hah... no matter where she went, struggle and the need for her powers were sure to be found.

She wasn't surprised, nor was she disoriented in any real way. There were things to be explained, a great many, and there were questions to be answered, even more, but Ling was strong enough that she knew they would all come in time.

For now, she gracefully gestured down the way Lust had been going, a faint breeze breathing through the hallway to accentuate Ling's desire to go. "Nor I, you. But why waste time with idle words? Come, tell me of your conflict as we walk."

Once again, Landels had shifted... Naminé was glad the shift wasn't as violent as the last one, where the floors were moving yet they were not and the terrible laughter of Marluxia in the background. But she knew her shift had been for the worst when she peeked her head outside of her room ( ... )
