Akabane had been expecting a challenger, or perhaps a guardian of some sort. But... rolling boulders? It was enough to surprise even Dr. Jackal. On the far side of the room, he could see another door. So the objective was to get past the boulders, then. But the rocks seemed to lack any sort of pattern, suddenly tumbling out of

Standing beside Akabane, Schuldig simply stared at the room for a few long moments - part of his mind was already trying to discern any sort of pattern in the boulders' movements, in order to set up a timed dash through - before he processed Akabane's mental question enough to think of answering it. "You're asking like I would know," he replied irritably. "I told you, I don't know what's down here because no other patient's made it this far yet. Anyway, presumably the big secret of the basement is whatever this obstacle course is trying to keep us away from rather than the obstacle course itself, don't you think?" He'd have added "Don't act ( ... )

Goddamn rocks.
Kimbley stared at the interior of the room, watching as massive boulders dropped from the ceiling at random and rolled about. All physical impossibilities aside (how the fuck do they make giant boulders drop from a ceiling that's supposed to be connected to a goddamn mental institution?!), he could only wonder what the fuck this was supposed to result in. Running across the room and hoping you didn't get crushed, and then ... ?
There weren't even any enemies. Both a good and a bad thing, but he would have expected something more ... violent for a place like this. Then again, tonight had been nothing but big goddamn surprises.
"Bullshit," he muttered, unrelated to anybody else's comments, and stalked forward a few steps to try and see any secret paths, any ways to the end without damage. Nope ... nothing.

"Schuldig's right," she said, staring levelly at the other door. "The Head Doctor wouldn't put a maze down for us little mice to run through without some sort of reward at the end to make sure we keep playing his games."
Speaking of games, this looked an awful lot like a few video games she'd played in her time. But like Schuldig, she couldn't see a pattern - just a bunch of rocks obeying gravity. She didn't have to think very hard to know that here, with her powers limited like this, she wouldn't be able to find the room's kernel and mess with the local gravity. Nita was more adept at that sort of thing, but Dairine had studied the mechanics of kernel manipulation. No such luck here, though - they had to get through it by wits alone, and maybe a wizardly shield that would survive one solid hit.
