Maybe it was a test, he reasoned as he walked down the dark hallway and toward the other boy's room.  That was why they let everyone out at night.  And maybe the monsters really were just a part of his imagination.  He tried to convince himself that it was true, but his body couldn't forget the creature that had torn into his shoulder

The boy thought he had heard some voices far off as he passed through the door, but he couldn't be certain which direction it was coming from. Perhaps if he continued further down...

Saetan threw the door open into the long corridor between the men's blocks. It still seemed fairly quiet, for which he was grateful. He kept running, since he knew the female block was just to the south. He also knew he'd be paying for this physically later, but he had to get there as fast as possible.
