Day 29: Rec Field (2nd Shift)

Jan 11, 2008 13:17

[OOC: Waiting for Kenren, I think...? Daddy!?!]It was the second time she'd needed to be sedated since being dumped in this awful place. The fight hadn't even really been a fight either, just a refusal to move or do anything that the nurses wanted her to do after "Tyki" had left. It was just the adamant resistance that had gotten her injected and ( Read more... )

Zabuza was NOT a team player, but he needed to exercise. He felt trapped and it pissed him off. The courtyard was way too much of a phony "tranquil" place for him, so he took to the Rec Field. He wasn't going to play soccer, but he could do his own exercises. He moved away from the soccer field and took his own space to do just that, enjoying the feel of his body move its muscles under the sun.

[For Rhode]

Kenren managed to mostly hold his composure until he made it outside. Oh, don't get him wrong, he wanted to fight and rage and kill. Wanted to hurt the staff of this place until they damn well gave him back!, but damn his years in the Heavens, but he knew that that would do him no good in the long run ( ... )

[Why you late little.... I mean YAY!!]It was a red ball as she was soon able to notice as she stared at and rolled it. Things were getting less hazy, and her mind was letting her register things like colors. Not that the color of the ball mattered. It made her think of blood and that spilling some might make her happy, but was there any point in doing so now ( ... )

Kenren pulled his hand back and examined his knuckles carefully for a moment, watching the blood trickle down over his skin. At least that exertion had cleared his mind a little, although his rage and hurt was still boiling beneath the surface. It was difficult to force it down. He just had to hope that something gave him a decent distraction that night.

Something collided with his feet and he looked down, seeing a red football lying there. He stooped to pick it up and then looked around for the culprit. There was a girl sitting nearby looking at it mournfully. Huh, he'd talked to her a couple of days ago, hadn't he?

He held the ball under his arm and went over to her, holding it out with a faint smile on his face. "Hey kiddo. I think you dropped this."

When the person came closer, she was able to recognize him as... someone. She'd seen him before, talked with him, and even gotten his name. She knew what that name was, but trying to pin it down and match it with his face was proving difficult. Started with a "K". Ke... vin? No, that wasn't right.

"Hmmmm?" she looked up, studying his face in an attempt to get the name to surface. Oh, right the ball. Technically she had "dropped" it so far as having lost hold, but she really hadn't cared for it in the first place.

Kon-something? No, Ken was right prefix, but there was more. Her mind slurred over a mess of suffixes before it finally sparked. "Kenren!" a weak, but triumphant announcement. This was pathetic!

"Okay," Hokuto said, leading Kyon to an unoccupied spot. "Normally, we'd start by learning a single punch or kick and just practice those until you've got it down, but considering where we are, first lesson is how to take someone down any way you can. I don't know how much good it'll do against most monsters, but it's something. How familiar are you with pressure points and weak spots?"

The sky was clearer today than it had been on the field trip--figured. The sun was starting to descend, but it was still reasonably warm; she glanced up briefly, thinking that she really did miss going outside whenever she wanted. She wasn't much of a nature girl, but the field was certainly prettier than the inside of the Institute...

Kyon went along with Hokuto as she drug him outside. Really, he was so used to being pulled around by others, it felt like a part of home. The only thing that was a missing was the tie. And while he was also glad for a bit of fresh air, it wasn't but a few moments after he was out in the sun for him to feel its warmth on him.

Doyleton had sun, but it was fairly cloudy and cold the whole time. Kyon had barely felt it. This time it was considerably different. Maybe it was because he'd finally had blood the night before? Was he starting to become more and more like a vampire?

Stop thinking about that!

He needed to pay attention! He was about to get his ass kicked by this girl if he didn't.

After snapping back to reality, he shrugged at Hokuto. "Not a whole lot, just the stuff I learned from playing video games."

...well, it was better than nothing, right? "The main thing those get right is the 'ready' stance, from what I've seen," Hokuto said, dropping into it: right fist and left leg forward, left fist and right leg back. "Some of the kicks and punches are okay, too, but I wouldn't try them without getting a real person to show how they're done, first." Pixels didn't have to worry about strained or sprained muscles ( ... )

Kyon blinked when Hokuto was suddenly behind him, holding him in a lock. Damn, she was fast! She really knew what she was doing. Now, hopefully this wouldn't end in him getting his ass completely kicked.

He paused at her words, though. She really wanted him to fight back? Something in his head told him, 'Hey! You're not supposed to hit a lady!' but the rational part of his brain added, 'But only if they're about to knock you silly! Remember Asakura?'

Kyon bit his lip before swinging his free arm behind in hopes of actually hitting her. Though, some part of him was hesitant about it. He didn't want to hurt her on accident or something, even if she was sure she could defend herself.

Kairi was cute and so full of laughter--it came down to the concept of focussing on something else for a time, when another problem became too frustrating. And going outside, even this late in the day? Definitely frustrating. To see that stupid kid standing under the full force of the sun, having a... sparring session with a girl, yet.

It made want to slap himself in the forehead. If there were some kind of merciful deity out there, surely it could strike Kyon down where he stood and save the world from his idiocy (and menace ( ... )

“We had plenty of other things to do than stay inside and play video games.” Kairi let out a laugh and moved to sit down next to her new friend, her eyes lifting up to watch the sky overhead. “We had been planning on making a raft to try and sail to different worlds, so that was what we spent most of our time doing ( ... )

Sounds so... rustic. And not in a good way. Aidou passed the back of his hand across his cheek--it was too hot. He needed a nap, needed to find his cousin, needed to feed... Everything was such a burden, and the whole other world business was just insanely illogical ( ... )

“Oh,” Kairi said in a soft tone, a frown crossing her lips. “Well … they locked me in a room. It was like a jail cell, actually. I was to be used as a bait for my friend.” Pulling her knees up to her chest, she wrapped her arms around herself, her head resting on her knees. “I know they were going to use me to hurt him, so … I guess you could say they did some bad … things.”

Lifting her head up to laugh, Kairi turned towards Aidou and smiled. “I guess it’s true. I’d love to see where you were from. Visiting other worlds was always a dream of mine, and it’s just really interesting to see all the different places. Though …” letting her head fall back down to rest upon her knees, the girl shut her eyes and let out a sigh. “I guess my favorite place to be is still home, in my bed.”
