Considering they were up against a scorpion, this wasn't the way he would have expected to be attacked. Getting stung over and over again until he died would have made sense, but he had not been prepared for the pincer...
His Keyblade had done next to nothing and he soon lost the circulation to even hold the thing, it falling out of his grasp and then dissipating once it hit the floor. He placed his hands on the over-sized pincer with the false hope that he could pry it open and get away.
Before he had much time to even try, however, he was dropped. He wasn't able to break his fall this time, landing so hard on his back that the wind was knocked out of him. He gasped for breath, but he was already passing out...

So when the scorpion finally gave it's all, the redhead practically slid from the appendage like it was slick with grease, landing a few feet away from the unconscious brunet. His head hit the floor with a crack, and his vision immediately became disoriented from the blow. And as much as Axel tried to get up, focus his eyes, do anything his body just wouldn't comply.
Finally, the darkness settled in and his eyes rolled behind his head before the Nobody passed out completely.
