It was well into the night when the radios in the institute finally clicked on, spilling static and muted music over their speakers. Soon followed the smoke and whiskey voice of the nighttime DJ.
Hello? Is there anybody out there? Can you hear me?
My, my, my. What a night. What a fright. Are you hearts pounding? Is your breath quickened? Your blood boiling? I know mine is. Nothing like a good scare to get the old ticker going, is there? And my, the winged monstrosities are roused tonight. Innocence is not a blessing in this place. The pure are hunted. Rid yourself of vitrue’s curse if you wish to journey outside without fear of death from above.
I hope today opened your eyes. Did you enjoy your little surprise? Now you know what’s beyond these walls, at least a little ways. But don’t let the big bad boogie man fool you - that place isn’t his. His power only extends so far. Remember there are realms I call my own. Remember his power is not absolute.
If you survived your welcome home, maybe you’re ready to delve into the depths after all. Are you afraid of the dark? You better overcome it. What about the cold? Wasteland begets wasteland. Death is cold as ice - if you seek the bowels of hell, seek frozen caskets and chilled tombs. You’ll find your way there.
I had gifts for you today, gifts of leisure I know you want. But such a pity, only a handful of you found them. Always keep your eyes open, hope that you see between the lines. You never know when friendly face might be just around the corner.
It’s been a busy day. There are plans in motion. Bide your time, pace your stride, and don’t get overeager. The veil will rip soon enough. Be on your toes, Martin. You're in for a treat. I've got something special, just for you.
Jack out.
The radios turned off as one, leaving silence in their speakers.
