Nightshift 28: Main Hallway, 1-Center

Allen struggled to keep Sanji from falling over as they walked further into the institute. The halls were so dark without the portable lanterns, it was difficult to see much going on in front of them. He didn't like it, but there wasn't much he could do about it for the time being.

"Whatever is close I guess," Allen replied to Sanji ( Read more... )

It was with a bit more caution that Allen made his way back toward the entrance to the institute. He still didn't have his portable lantern, but perhaps that was alright, since his eyes were beginning to adjust to the darkness.

But where was Renji going? He'd seen a flash of red go into the Sun Room. Wasn't Renji going back to check on the others too? The doors slammed shut with a strange finality. He cast a worried look upon the door, torn between curiosity and the need to go find the others.

Renji probably knew where he was going, maybe... he reasoned. Rinali and the others were the ones who needed help. It was that and the thought of Renji yelling at him for following that kept him from entering.

With just a moment's hesitation, he ran on, back toward the buses.

Pushing through the door, the Star Dragon Sword glanced up and down the hallway. Nothing he was seeing looked familiar, and with the lights out, it was making it more difficult to judge exactly which way the resting rooms were within this building.

Looking back over his shoulder the sword grumbled. “I don’t suppose that you know the way back to our quarters?”

Scar took a moment to glance at his new surroundings, noting the double doors opposite of the hallway.

"I suspect these to lead to the Sun room, but I am not too sure." he eventually replied, gesturing to the doors in question. He had only ventured twice to that area (though the first time he hadn't been paying much attention to the directions -- his new form had kept him occupied enough already), and that had been during the day.

"My ability to see in the dark appears to have lessened." he admitted, not bothering to hide the irritation in his voice. His lack of sight made it more difficult to decide on a direction. How terribly inconvenient.

Navigating on a savannah was so much easier, since it at least has distinguishable landmarks. He couldn't exactly say the same thing about this hospital, as all these doors looked practically the same to him. Nighttime only made matters worse in that regard.

His eyebrows twitched at the mention of the Sun room, and the Night Rune incarnation fought down the urge to growl as he was reminded of that other blasted rock. What was so good about the Sun anyway? It was only ever far too flashy and bright for his likings. Frowning deeply, the Star Dragon Sword glared up towards his companion when he realised his thoughts were going off track.

“Unfortunately my vision isn’t what it once was either.” He muttered before pointing his short arm out towards the left, “but if memory serves me correct - our destination lies that way.”

Well… at least he thought it did. It was the direction he remembered from the previous day, and so the sword hoped.

"I see." Scar replied, already beginning to move left along with the necessary near-collapses. Shifting his balance was still difficult to him, but thanks to his practice he had at least made a little progress.

His feline gaze eventually caught a collection of small platforms that eventually lead to a higher area. It somehow reminded him of conveniently placed rock formations, except for the fact that it clearly wasn't made of rock. Or conveniently placed there. If his hind legs were anything to go by, Scar figured these humans weren't incredible jumpers. That these platforms would aid humans in reaching higher areas was only a logical conclusion ( ... )

She stepped quietly out into the main corridor outside of the entrance hall, looking both ways through the darkness to try and spot any approaching creatures, but thankfully saw nothing. She doubted it, but maybe even this place considered it too cruel to attack as soon as they reached safety.

Momo glanced quickly to the left before heading to the right. She used the light from the flashlight Hokuto had found in Artemis' room to light her way. She tilted her head as she moved. It seemed Rangiku was up ahead somewhere.

Jack leaned on Fai as they headed into the main hallway, following Sousuke. It wasn't so much needing the man to bear his weight, as needing the man to keep him walking in a relatively straight line.

As they entered the hall, he squinted at the closed sun room doors. He was starting to develop a headache, which was rather distressing. He'd liked it better when he'd just felt loopy. It was like being drunk without the constant need to pee on every lamppost they passed. Not that there were any lampposts nearby.

"Oh damn," he muttered. "I was supposed to meet someone, too." He doubted Gin would mind. They were all getting their plans screwed up.

To be truthful, Rukia didn't think she knew where the clinic was, either. She was pretty sure she had seen its location on the bulletin board at some point, but in all the confusion, she just couldn't remember. Thankfully, the young man she'd just healed seemed to know where it was. Speaking of which ( ... )
