Allen followed, though his childish face was set in a firm line. Clark couldn't be that much older than him, why was he being treated like a little child while Clark was leading the group? He pushed his bruised pride aside. It probably didn't help that he wasn't exactly the picture of health either. Still, he kept an eye out for

By the time they reached the second floor, she didn't see Renji or the others anywhere. Without question, she was lost. It was up to the others to lead the way...which was fine. She mentally followed their steps so that she could get here again if she needed in the future.
As they stepped into the hall, however, Allen somehow looked worse. He was shaking! The obdurate anger that she was feeling before gave way to a sincere and deep concern for her friend. She still wasn't happy with him, but she couldn't sit idly by while he was feeling that way. As they walked, she put a hand lightly on his shoulder. There wasn't need for words.

Hold up, he thought to himself, my ears don't twitch properly anymore. He prodded one with his pink fleshy finger, sadly. The lack of a tail had been so traumatic that he hadn't really noticed the ears before. He'd noticed the nose only a little. It was pretty much the same. He had to point it upwards a little and sniff. It worked. So did the mouth. But his ears didn't move unless he played with them. That was terrible. No wonder it was uncommon for these creatures to fight young. It must take so long training their senses. Stubbly little noses, no fangs, pointless ears, strange tail-less balancing acts ( ... )

When Noah made for the stairs, Edgar glanced over towards the beast, then at Celes and Larsa. Then he nodded. "Hm. At least they already have help," he muttered, though his voice still held a moment of uncertainty. He couldn't help it; after all, kingship meant it was his duty to protect everyone, didn't it? But it also meant he had to be rational, and Edgar was nothing if not a rational man. Sometimes. Even if he didn't like it.
He was quiet as he followed Noah up the stairs, listening to the echo of his own steps. When he stepped into the hall, he flashed his torch carefully, inspecting the dark corridor. Luckily, it seemed this part of the building was less eventful than the one they'd just left.

For a moment, they were at least guarded by the weak metal. Anyway, with the rotted cat behind them, back to the matter at hand. She'd not been to the second floor, but there was tell of stronger monsters. Or so she'd read, and wondered if it was simply that the people who had run into them were weaker than a usual person. "Shall we go left, or right?" she asked the back of Larsa and Noah's heads as the child and the man came closer to the door.

"But there would appear to be some kind of lounge for doctors in the second hall to the left. My map was not as detailed when pertaining to the second floor, but that would be the most likely area where a kitchen would reside."

Stopping upon entering the hallway from the stairs, Cloud flexed his grip on the weapons that he was carrying before looking back. He stepped to the side to allow Barret and Cid to come up, more comfortable following. He needed to learn where things were before he wanted to take the pulge ahead towards their mission.
The last thing they needed at this point was to have him get them lost. He was certain it was something he would not live down, especially if Rufus suffered more damage because of a turn around.

Making it upstairs was one thing, but now there was the minor issue of where to go. Not the right - that led to the chapel and the pharmacy and whatnot, all of which Reno had come across the last time he'd gone up here with Schuldig.
Forward, then, seemed to be their best option.
"Up head, likely," he said.

The ninja waited for both Turks to head up the stairs before following after them, refusing to be stuck with one at her back and one at her front. She reached the upper landing just in time to hear Reno's comment about their destination.
"You'd better not get us lost," she muttered, hanging her free hand off the waistband of her jeans.

He spun around, although his glare was mostly directed at Yuffie. The end of the pipe slammed into the wall. "Enough. Holy fuck. You don't wanna be here, walk. Otherwise, shut the hell up."
He headed down the hall without bothering to wait for a response. Too dark to tell if he dented anything with that minor outburst. Probably. Whatever.

"Okay. It'll probably just be a little bit longer."
Clark wasn't sure he agreed that all Kyon needed was to go back to his own room, but he probably wouldn't like being brought against his will to the other room and handled like luggage. It wasn't that picking him up and carting him over would be hard, but he had to respect Kyon's decision and that pretty much included not dragging him anywhere he didn't want to go. Clark bit his lip, frowning as he led the way back down toward the stairs.
He was careful to keep it slow for Kyon, chewing over all this silently for a moment. What if Kyon really was a vampire? And if this, uh, thing wasn't temporary? He couldn't let Kyon help himself to the other people here, even if he couldn't help it and didn't mean to hurt anyone.
And maybe you're getting ahead of yourself, Clark thought, annoyed. So far Kyon hadn't done anything wrong.
He glanced over at Kyon. "If you feel like you need a rest, just tell me, okay?"

Haruhi was going to find this hilarious, he bet. If she was still going to talk to him after what happened earlier in the day.
He did his best to pick up the pace a little, so that Clark didn't have to take it so slow for him. He looked around a bit and realized that didn't recognize the area they were in at all.
"Where ...are we exactly, anyway?" He didn't mention that he could see almost perfectly in the dark now, he had yet to realize this himself.

"I'm guessing near the stairs," Clark replied. That was the plan, assuming they didn't get themselves turned around on the way back. "I think," he said, feeling like it'd be a lot better to admit he wasn't sure rather than lie. "I haven't been up here before. What about you?"
It was pretty quiet now. Kyon seemed to be improving a little - he was actually walking on his own and not looking as much like death warmed over, which Clark took to be a good sign.

"I've never been up here, before. I've only been here for ...two days? Yeah, two days." Though it seemed like so much longer than that. It felt like it had been forever. Kyon knew he couldn't think like that. Even though he was separated from the people who usually came to his rescue, he wasn't about to give up. He'd get back home without them.
Somehow.
"How long have you been here?"
