Night 19: Exit hallway(s) outside the M blocks

(escaping from the riot here.)

Renji moved as quickly as he could while still keeping his footsteps quiet. There were several more small hallways like the one he'd come from, and two doors. One turned out to be a bathroom. No help there. The second was far more promising - it lead to another, more spacious hallway.

And, more importantly, a quiet ( Read more... )

[ from here ]

Albel noticed there were more hallways like the one he had just come from. Most likely, they led to more rooms. Albel wasn't interested in finding more people so he decided to go with one of the two doors that were left over.

The first on he opened turned out to be...a bathroom. There was nothing useful there.

The warrior opened a new door, and found yet another hallway. He looked left and right. He could see there were doors at both ends, one open, one closed. He slightly hestitated about which direction he should go, since he had no idea which door led to what. A map or at least some directions would come in handy, but he doubted he'd get them any time soon.

Getting more irritated with the situation, he decided to go for the open door.

Renji heard a noise behind him. Given the unknown... everything, he wasn't about to ignore it. He moved to put his back against a wall, then flicked the flashlight's beam up to get a better look at who, or what, it might be.

At first, he didn't recognize who the light revealead at all, but then no, he was pretty certain that he'd caught a glance of him in the mini-riot he'd escaped from. And it had involved a loud voice calling people maggots.

Great.

The guy seemed unarmed, and it was obvious he didn't know anything either. Renji let the light drop back to the floor and started down the hall again. He kept his ears open and everything on edge, just in case 'maggot' guy decided to jump him from behind.

People had tried to attack him from behind a lot, when he was growing up. He knew how to deal with it, if it happened.

Albel froze when the beam was shining straight on him, making him shield his eyes from the blinding light. After a few seconds, the light went back to the floor.

'Someone is in front of me!' Albel thought, unfortunately, the warrior wasn't able to recognize him.

'He must've heard me...' Albel narrowed his eyes. An enemy? He continued moving forward, keeping his footsteps more quietly now - Albel the Wicked could be cautious when he wanted to. He wanted to find out who was in front of him, and wether he would attack him or not. Catching this person off guard was out of the question though.

"Show yourself, you fool!!" Albel called out, holding his own flashlight in front of him. If this person would attack him, he'd deal with it easily. Not being armed didn't mean The Wicked One was completely helpless...

And who knows, perhaps he could get some information out of him while he was at it!

Well, so much for that. Renji considered the wisdom of going back toward the guy and saying, look, you're the one that's a fool if you're going to keep lumbering around and squalling like a wounded bear. But his brain could already supply how that one would go, and it would involve a lot more shouting, and a delay, and possibly a fight that he really didn't need right now.

And while Renji didn't have the ego of someone like, say, Rufus - he really didn't care if no one heard his name and trembled in fear or whatever - he still had enough pride to feel annoyed by this guy's attitude.

He kept walking, his bare feet silent and quick, and came to the end of the hall. Again, a choice - right or left.

Might as well go with the theme. Renji turned right again.
