Nightshift 26; Room F8

Night again. Lyta had slipped into a routine already. She gathered up her syringes and took a deep breath. The intercom and radio were actually giving potentially useful information tonight.

So down is where we want to go, she thought to herself. Down it was, then. She'd lost a great deal of her fear, after last night. Death wasn't exactly ( Read more... )

The therapy session had shown him nothing; as he might as well have been speaking to a brick wall ( ... )

"We're going down," Lyta said, immediately. She could feel the emotions coming off of him if not the thoughts, and she emphasized. Oh hell, did she emphasize. But she wouldn't let defeat get them down. They weren't going to let this place break them.

Radiating determination, she placed a hand under Envy's chin, fixing him with dark and hardened eyes.

"I'm sick and tired of getting nothing done. We're strong, smart people, and we're going to kick this place's ass tonight. Just you and me. No more waiting, no more arguing, no more dealing with people who don't respect us. We don't need them." The pep talk was as much for her as it was for him. She wasn't going to take this lying down. And she and Envy could handle themselves. As long as she had him....

"I need you, okay? Now let's go."

Surprised as he was at the contact, he felt even more shocked by the motivational words offered. They weren't the subtle weavings of someone who knew exactly what she was doing and had done so for centuries; but they were still authoritative, strong and decisive. He'd worked on more difficult issues for decades before; a few days of defeat wasn't going to make him curl up and die. Though the stretch of wounded skin was uncomfortable, and the brusing on his flesh made constant reminder of how weak he was, he wasn't going to die without fighting like hell.

"Down, it is." He said, pleasantly swinging his new arms-length weapon over his shoulder.

"Alright." Of course, Lyta had no idea how to go down.

"I guess we look for stairs going down. Or..." She sent her mind out, trying to catch a stray thought that could help. Nothing. "Or we look for stairs going down."

She headed out into the hallway, heading towards the main area of the hospital. She wasn't experienced at being a leader - it was a position she'd been thrust into just a few scant years ago - but she was going to live up to the task.

The red headed telepath glanced over her shoulder, giving Envy an unreadable look.

"By the way, thanks for last night."
