NIghtshift 26: 2nd Floor Hallway near Railed Area

Aug 24, 2007 10:28

[From here.]It was around that time when Jade's pace slowed considerably, almost to that of a snail's. Even though it involved a woman of some sort, he was certain that he'd have more than enough time to dwell between the halls while still making it back before his Majesty reached his own destination. He walked the halls with more ease than he held ( Read more... )

[Having come up from the stairs and hurried over to here]

Ah, here they were! Front row seats to some asses being kicked.

Kasady's eyes filmed over a little, as the symbiote merged over in that area. The Sun Room below lightened up immediately as the night vision set in. Couches and chairs and a wide enough space. Not much of the really nicely heavy stuff to throw around - a tank or a bus full of passengers would've been more entertaining - nor the space to websling or anything. Not their ideal battleground, but it wasn't their ass on the line right now.

The serial killer leaned over, hands on the rail, to watch.

[Brock stalking in from here]

If anything, he should have been watching his back, not the show a story below.

Brock mounted the stairs, licking his lips and running his tongue over his fangs. They were as sharp as ever. His claws were already out, but it was a damn shame they couldn't fully become Venom. There was a kind of freedom to being Venom, to really being that which goes bump in the night, and it was the true extent of Parker's - and the symbiote's power. As true as it could get without being actually bonded to their Spider anymore ( ... )

Kasady heard the snarl and shift of his weight, and managed to duck sloppily to the side, the claws and fangs coming out. They whirled, eyes landing on Venom.

How the hell--?!

Even the symbiote was stunned. Neither of them could figure out how the Old Timer had snuck up on them like that. But whatever the case, Pops looked pissed.

Kasady leered. They flexed their claws. "Sure you want to go startin' something with us? Thought you'd know better than to pick on someone bigger and better than you, Dad."

They'd be happy to finish it, right here and now. Maybe Kasady hadn't intended to go offing Venom just yet, but why the hell not? He wanted to play rough, they could play that way too. And if he was going to die anyway, no point in delaying it!

A miss!

Brock landed a few yards away from Kasady, sure that another few inches and they would've made contact. He got to his feet, ignoring the upstart's attempt at baiting them - they wouldn't just blindly rush at the other symbiote now that they'd missed the initial strike - and instead bared his fangs.

"We've warned you to stay away from the Spider, brat," they hissed, the double-voices starting to come out now.

Kasady's body language was easy to read. The claw flexings, the baring of his own set of nasty fangs, the way he was moving around all pointed to a symbiote as ready to fight as they were. Brock intended to give this hick and his newborn symbiote from Nowheresville a good, thorough ass-kicking, NY-style. While the symbiote knew how to battle other symbiotes, and other Hosts, Brock had both his memories of being a human and Parker's to compliment that to help his symbiote in figuring out how to dismantle a human host this time around. Humans weren't much different from the other species the symbiote had run into, other ( ... )

Bad luck. Allen seemed to have the worst of it. He'd brought the girls right up into the thick of a battle between the two Akuma he'd seen a day earlier. He'd known there was something about them that didn't sit right. Allen stayed in front, putting himself between the girls and the dangerous Akuma. Rhode would likely be just fine, but Emily?

He cursed quietly under his breath. It was difficult for them to sneak quietly past when his eye was lighting up half his face in a vibrant red. He could only hope the two would be more interested in their personal battle than in the humans that were creeping past.

Rhode had gotten all but drug up the stairs due to her refusal to release her hold of Allen. Her hand was instinctively keeping it's grip in response to the unemotional one's presence. Rhode didn't actually understand the feeling that was jealousy as she'd never had to deal with it - everything she had ever wanted the Earl had given her, and whatever it was remained hers. Not knowing jealousy, but feeling it nonetheless, only added to her desire not to share what she deemed as hers. Allen Walker she would share with no one!

Especially not with some unemotional woman who Rhode felt threatened by. ... no, there was no threatening about it! Rhode just didn't like her! Or at least, that's what Rhode tried to convince herself of. She didn't need or have the desire to feel like a weak human again, and, with part of her abilities now back, she was no longer Catherine Grace; she was Rhode Camelot ( ... )

As expected, resuming their pace had brought the earlier conversation to well-timed end, at least for now. They walked up the stairs to the second floor. Upon arrival, however, it seemed that something was keeping them from going forward. Allen and Rhode had noticed it, and so did Larxene.

Two men, fighting each other, one of which she recognized.

It would be bad if Eddie saw her and spoiled everything. Although he seemed to be pretty focused on his opponent, the risk was still there.

“What should we do…?” she asked. “Should we make a run for it?”

She appeared in the distance; the tattoos made her a strange shape in the darkness, softening the edge of where she ended and the night began.

bare feet on the boards, so quiet, so quiet, where's Aname, aren't we to meet tonight and we'll speak of my lost star, my home

She caught the sound of voices. Half lost in memory, half filled with rage that the world was going on when hers had stopped, she moved toward them.

As soon as Chase could clearly see the railing around the opening to the sun room, he stopped. There were two fights - at least - going on nearby. One with two patients (or monsters? They could have been either) snarling at each other, and one with a small group staring at a strangely pale woman walking toward them.

He stilled and narrowed his eyes. That woman ... she was long since dead. He could tell. Hatred and sorrow absolutely pulsed where she walked.

Quickly, Chase slipped along the wall and headed for the not-so-far-off double doors that lead into the chapel. He could remember this path, having taken it once before. Swiftly avoiding getting caught in either crossfire and not pausing to glance down at the carnage in the sun room, Chase made his way to the chapel's doors.

Ichigo looked around the next hall, saw nothing of real interest, and continued to move on. This was where that girl and the child had showed up, but he was determined to move on. There was noise coming further down the hallway, but he ignored it and went up to the hallway that they were going to explore last night.

"Ugh, damnit," Keigo was really getting tired of this running around. He didn't have the energy to be chasing after that idiot!

...

Wonder where that came from, Keigo blinked at his own thoughts, realizing that perhaps he had something welled up for a while. Whatever. He didn't care about that at the moment.

He continued.
